Yep. Shock horror 24 hours after the club releases a statement putting in on Trac, a friendly Journo runs with a story that the club was mean to poor Trac and he had no choice but to seek a trade to a premiership contender.

It's about the most outrageous claim Tom Morris has ever made, which is saying something and i don't blame him because it's not him on his own pushing this. Trac could have declared his love for the club at the best and fairest and this conversation wouldn't happen the MFC not getting on their hands and knees and begging him to stay publicly isn't the same as pushing him out.

You’d have to think we’d appeal more than Essendon surely. Haha

For the love of god don’t tell me the barista has signed a lease and isn’t going anywhere! I’ve been hurt too much this week.

2025 Player Reviews: #10 Daniel Turner
I’d appreciate if we could address him as “future captain disco turner” from now on.

I think to do anything other than look deeply into why one of the best players the club has ever had is desperate to leave would be ridiculous to be honest This is the sort of situation that needs to be fully reviewed and understood to make sure we prevent it in the future. You can’t become a destination club without understanding and admitting why you aren’t one, unfortunately just saying well he’s a selfish dog doesn’t help anyone.

I’d be really curious to know what changes trac actually demanded within the football club that were driving his unhappiness or if it’s simply we aren’t in a position to contend and that’s what he wants to do. It feels like things have just gone downhill since Gus retired for the MFC. That felt like the beginning of the end sadly

His constant attempts to escape the club paint a pretty clear picture.

Hang on!? Freo is in the mix now as well? How on earth do they have 1.3 million spare?

I feel our three biggest issues have been Toxic culture and player behavior - This is being addressed, players leaving, moving on, refreshed coaching panel Low crowd attendances - I believe this is part of why Goodwin was let go, we needed a new coach to generate excitement and play an attacking brand to get bums in seats Home base - This is as close as it's ever been in the time i've been following the club It might be sad to say goodbye to some players and we might go backwards before we go forwards but all the changes i can see seem to suggest to me the club has accurately identified the issues and they've set about correcting them properly, with hard decisions, good strategic moves and no shortcuts or fairytales

Even if Ned Flanders nominates us and Trac nominates Adelaide it probably opens up a path to a three way deal where a deal right now with the Crows looks very difficult

Paul Guerra made it pretty clear on the radio it'll take a pretty special deal to get Trac to another club, i don't think there is any chance we'll be accepting average picks or paying any of his salary. he said "it's still our strong preference Christian stays at Melbourne"

Hardest job in footy managing a list when your ability to attract talent is critically hamstrung by talk of off field issues, no home base and poor crowd attendances. Thankfully it looks like the club is finally on the way to addressing all 3

I would just put a pin in the Trac trade idea if Flanders doesn't nominate us, i don't see a net win for the MFC unless it includes Flanders.

Given Goodwin, Jordan and Grundy are all at the Swans, they'd have plenty of intel into Trac as a person, so it'll be interesting to see if they emerge as an option. I reckon they're probably more interested in Curnow for the moment and will see how that plays out

Farewell Judd McVee
I don't wanna have a crack at McVee but i am just not sure he's going to be an effective attacking half back... he's a gun lock down small defender, someone who could be all australian in that role, but while he's quick, he's not an amazing kick, just solid, i don't think he has the natural game sense others do and just seems to have better defensive than offensive instincts. hats off to freo if they can make it work but my vibe is that Judd got pigeon holed into a role because he was great at it and it was getting the absolute max out of him as a footballer

Both teams just posturing ahead of what is probably going to be a tough negotiation with any deal that does get done coming very late in the trade period. I think our outcome will be dictated entirely by our ability to convince Trac and the Crows we'd hold him to his deal. they need Trac, that's not in question but if they think we want him out, they'll offer what they like be it a couple of picks and just not go much higher. If they think we would, or would rather hold onto Trac i think you'll see a motivated Crows team get active in trying to figure out a deal, or get another team involved.

Legend! I don't even have twitter these days so between watching that on facebook and then jumping on here to post it i lost the link! thanks for searching it up!

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
you're the links master! Tom Morris posted a short video update on Trac via SEN about 10 minutes ago! maybe you can find it and post it?

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
Tom Morris just said on SEN that either the Crows or Suns can and would absorb Tracs contract.

if we did accept the crows picks which are both not going to be very good I think it would be virtually confirmation of off field concerns with trac to our culture. We have no incentive to trade him unless he’s being toxic and causing issues or we get an amazing deal, if we get a couple of early second round picks essentially that would tell me we just want him gone. I don’t think one player makes or breaks a footy club and we shouldn’t be worried about if trac goes but it’d be a horrid outcome if we lose trac for average picks and miss out on Flanders as well
