TRAINING: Monday 19th August 2024
I reckon it shows the power of forgiveness, Trac had the guts to get up and talk to the players, i'm sure it's gone an enormous way with a lot of them and it's really nice to hear that even though we can't make finals the players are happy and energised. time for a big pre season and a big bounce back in 2025.

Christian Petracca
Anyone able to post the article?

I agree, and Max has basically said as much, he's gone with the teams blessing. i feel like whoever is feeding Tom Morris information is only giving part of the story.

Ignore that, already posted haha

2 firsts and Nate Caddy might be the best i've seen. I can't see Carlton doing any deal that involves McKay/ Curnow, if they would do that i think we'd consider it if we had to.

What are the odds an angry MFC re-release the Tom Morris recordings on twitter as revenge for this

I reckon Essendon are the smokey in all of this, big vic club with money and resources, they were sitting top 4 for a lot of the year and still have a lot of young players, plus would likely have the assets to do a deal if they needed to. everyone seems to be writing them off, but i think their list is better placed long term than Collingwood With Trac they'd almost certainly play finals and win a final next season

In two years time the Pies will be in a re-set mode similar to us, they've sold out their future for flags now which makes sense, but when the cliff comes they're going to fall hard, and it could be as soon as next season.

The thing that gets me is that little grin on his face that he has while he reports this stuff, it still blows my mind this guy can be a behave the way he did and basically come back into the fold 5 minutes later with all forgiven.

Look, i am a reasonable guy, if they give us Weitering, Walsh, Cripps, Curnow and Mckay, plus pay their salary for us and agree to take Lachie Hunter as well, they can have Trac. Oh and 2 first round picks.

Max Gawn Re-Signs Until 2027
Binman sacked him, he's on the lookout for a new PA if you wanna apply ;)

I would be staggered if this didn't happen, the players would also be in multiple group chats and have constant communication. I would speculate that the reality is closer to, the players are frustrated with their club being dragged through the mud by a player having some sort of tantrum, and that players general attitude being horrible, and it's been spun to make it sound like the club is again dysfunctional and the player is a victim.

Where are his management in all of this? Are they actually on board with a strategy that serves to only damage relations with the club he's almost certainly going to have to return to in 2025?

It's pretty clear Tom Morris has a direct line to Tracs management and is getting one side of the story. it seems much more likely the only frustrations Trac and his team care about are those relating to him going to Noosa, but i guarantee the players would be filthy that the club has been thrown into the fire by the media getting hold of this information. I can't see any way a trade even gets close to done, one because why would we? and two because of the very few teams he might actually want to go to, none of them could afford him, and or get close to satisfying us in a trade. I think it would be in everyones best interersts from Trac, his management, the club, and the players to get used to the idea of Trac being at Melbourne long term, get your arms around him and welcome him back and work together to get the MFC back to grand final day in 2025.

Max Gawn Re-Signs Until 2027
No like from Goody, guessing he is off to North.

Max Gawn Re-Signs Until 2027
Not only is your take on this absolute garbage, it's delusional to think a contract extension is negotiated with someone like Max since the Petracca drama started 5 minutes ago, they would have been talking about this for weeks. I would happily pay max til he's 40 for what he's done for this club, not just lifting the cup, but dragging us from a mediocre nothing club to 3 consecutive top 4 finishes.

Max Gawn Re-Signs Until 2027
Given Max is very likely to be the All Australian ruckman this year i really don't see any issue with him signing on for 3 years.
- PREGAME: Rd 24 vs Collingwood
- PREGAME: Rd 24 vs Collingwood
- POSTGAME: Rd 23 vs Gold Coast

That'd be a twist in the tale that he goes to the team that overlooks him, also pretty handy if we had picks 5,6,7 23 and a future first from them

NON-MFC: Round 23
Footy act, he will get off. Oh he doesn't play for Collingwood... yeah he's having a holiday
-
Christian Petracca
Plus where does he expect to go? there are maybe 2-3 teams in the entire competition that could both afford him and have any sort of hope of satisfying us in what would probably be the biggest trade return in AFL history. i'm guessing he doesn't want to go to North, RIchmond or West Coast

Jack Viney Extends Contract Until 2028
Honestly, the chances of us pulling Clarko out of North to coach the Dees are higher than Jack Viney leaving the Dees to go to Norf.

An external review of the Melbourne Football Club is required!
Geez, what is the down side to having some experts from the footy industry come in, have a look at how we're doing things and giving us some recommendations on how we can improve? Why not go out and pick 4-5 of the best footy people we can, Brendan Gale, Peter Jackson, Luke Hodge, Joel Selwood, whoever it is and say, can you take a look at our structure, give us some insight into how your great clubs have done it and help us bounce back in 2025 and win another flag. Honestly this would be a very reasonable step to take given the smoke around the club for the better part of 18 months now with several concerning incidents. Noone at the club should be immune from the review, all positions looked at and we make sure we have things right to the best of our ability heading into 2025.
