  1. I think you'll find that while North Melbourne would love not to give up those picks, they more than likely will give up one of them. i know there is a lot of wishful thinking from the Dees fans on this for obvious reasons, but unless we offered up Van Rooyen or Rivers with our pick 6, i don't think we are any chance of trumping North Melbourne as it stands. Even Hawthorn arguably could put together a strong package that we'd struggle to top. with that in mind, i personally would consider trading Van Rooyen to get in pick 1, i understand he's ultra talented, but i rate Harley Reid as someone who's likely to be a long term top 3 in the comp player, and Van Rooyen is still someone who has a strong pull home and could easily leave in 2025. I know a lot of people won't agree and will be shocked by the suggestion, but i think we need a mini re-set as a club and getting Harley Reid in could make or break future premiership tilts
  2. North Melbourne has 2, 3, 13, 17, 18 and early second rounders plus their future first, a 24 end of first round pick If they want Harley Reid, they will get him
  3. @dazzledavey36 Do you still have a bit to do the the Bushies? What do you think of O'Sullivan and Wilson? are they good lads?
  4. It's just about impossible to see how we get this deal done without offering a player up now.
  5. I think it might be the bloke that wears number 2 that they're looking to offer a large extension to
  6. Would you pay Harry Petty who is currently recovering from a very serious foot injury 800-900k a year? I rate the kid, but no way in the world i'd be spending that sort of money on him
  7. If Harry Petty is being offered money like that i'd expect a formal trade request very soon
  8. I think we kind of knew that though, the reality was to sign anyone close to A grade we would need someone contracted to decide they wanted out, and the club to be willing to do the trade. I do think we're building up a war chest of cap space for next year however and that's when we will be looking to make a splash
  9. I'd like to see us play hard ball, set a price and just refuse to sign off on any other deal. Grundy and 27 for pick 11 or no deal,
  10. i'd do that deal, as much as i rate Harry Petty, always risks coming back from the injury he's got and he did have a few injuries this year, that's a BIG return
  11. i'm absolutely certain we would have asked the question but i think this is a bit like Clayton Oliver to the Blues, you introduce another club as a potential threat to get a better offer.
  12. I think it would be perfectly reasonable to allow a player to nominate a state, but then the team is free to negotiate with all teams of that state for the best deal as long as they meet contractual requirements.
  13. Huge yes, especially if the Saints are chipping in some of his wage, costs nothing and has played some really strong footy at times The Saints sadly haven't been able to develop a lot of the good players they've had come through, JB is one i still think can become a really solid AFL player
  14. A good run with injury and finding our best form at the right time we were a lot closer to the mark in 2023 than we realise and i suspect the FD realises that. we lost, rathar than being beaten
  15. I wonder if you could talk the Giants into a similar deal with bowes. If they upgrade our pick 13 to pick 6, and we take on his Salary given we're opening up some nice cap space I think this could be a smart move given we're clearly not planning a big signing in the next 12 months, he would at the very least provide some experience and depth and we could take on the 1.2 million or whatever it is for next year which would appeal to the Giants we could then dangle 5, 6 and our future first under the Eagles nose and see if we can still prize Harley Reid out of the Eagles
  16. and Trent Rivers in the 30's who could well end up one of the best players out of that draft. his record is incredible especially with later picks
  17. Realistically only about 3 teams have the currency to get this done, it would be one of the biggest trades of all time. i kind of want it to happen just to see a deal on that scale. I'd be wanting a top 5 pick and a player, or a top 5 pick and a top 10 pick to even start the conversation
  18. The only way there is anything to the McKay trade rumours is if Carlton have decided they need that money off their books, which is possible, but i'd say unlikely. they'll think they can win the flag next year.
  19. It's outside the box but i'd be using Joel Smith as our second string ruck/forward, his marking around the ground would be a weapon, he gives us another midfielder at ground level and is just tall enough that with his leap he can compete in the ruck
  20. I wonder if we'd offer something like 5, 24 and Charlie Spargo to trade up with North for pick 3. North have an abundance of mids and we could really use Colby McKercher. they could grab their boy Riley Sanders with pick 5, plus a premiership role player and a second rounder as a bonus
  21. I wonder if we'd have a look at Ladhams? he's more of a forward ruck and likely falling down the pecking order at the Swans
  22. I really hope so. we've got an opportunity to bring in 3-4 top 25 players and really refresh the list. unless you could sign Oscar Allen or Nick Larkey, better off going to the draft, looking for opportunities to upgrade picks and keeping the cap space open to replace May/Max.
  23. Also Melbourne won't sign off on a trade until they have an answer on this and simply there is no benefit in paying him to play for another premiership contender. if dees have to pay for him, keep him as backup for Gawn
  24. Watch North send all 3 of their special assistance picks to the Suns for pick 4, end up with 3 picks in the top 5 and basically get it for nothing. No wonder the entire league is absolutely fuming,
  25. I reckon McQualter had quite a bit to do with Richmonds success and would be an asset.
