The media still seem to be discussing this through the prism of “what’s fair” rather than “what Melbourne can justify letting trac to for” We’d have a massive egg on our Face if we let trac go for an average pick in an average draft.

Hypotheticals on Tasmania entry concessions
Player related but I feel like jack billing’s would be a great target for them for the VFL. Lots of experience and character

I mean realistically she would have to move interstate as well so it’s fair enough that it’s a joint decision, but I agree with you that it’s a bit unusual, just not something you usually see with this stuff

I’m amazed that Essendon and Carlton are even considering trading those guys! If they even are! It’s bloody hard to tell. i get it with us and trac but Merrett and curnow would be absolutely nuts to trade unless they got an outrageous deal- The List Manager Tim Lamb
They might well be looking at a few surprises especially with a weak draft pool, but I suspect they look far and wide every year anyways so it’s hard to know how much it means. I’m keen to see what our forwards can do with a new game plan and faster ball movement.- Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
I feel like the suns should be a fairly obvious choice. Their talent on paper is just ridiculous and Trac wouldn’t actually need to be a superstar for them to win a flag next year and beyond. I feel like the crows need him to be at his absolute best to get value where as the suns he’s more of the icing on the cake.- 2025 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee
Who?- Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
I get the idea, he’d be great but I feel like the suns are more likely to give us Ben king than Humphrey and even that isn’t very likely. I don’t think we should accept just anything in a deal but if we aren’t going to accept something realistic we are better off just telling him he’s staying now imo.- 2025 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem
Man I love salo! Ripping bloke and a great Melbourne person. I have a feeling Steven king will slightly change his role- The List Manager Tim Lamb
I thought lamb spoke really well. He’s on a hiding to nothing in a lot of ways because we aren’t the most attractive we’ve ever been so he probably cops it if we don’t sign anyone, and we probably don’t have great options so if he does sign 1-2 of them and they’re busts he probably cops it as well.- Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
I think you're right, i wonder if 23, the Spargo compensation and maybe later selections can get us closer points wise. I know the MFC would like the optics of the 2 top 10 picks thing, that's easier to sell to the members and sponsors than pick 15 or whatever the Crom have.- Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
any chance Trac and 23 could get 6 and 7 back from the Suns? maybe we have to add little pieces to it, but 2 more top 10 prospects into our young list would be exciting!- Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
Jesus, did they send him a snap chat as they got off the plane?- Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
Correct. though i am sure he'll be hoping Melbourne and the Suns/Crows are close on his value as his fresh start depends on it.- Welcome to Demonland: Brody Mihocek
I think this will be announced right after their BNF- Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
I definitely agree that it won't be Bailey Humphrey, but i think we'll find a way to get a deal done involving some combo of picks and young players that we like. I am still really hopefully it'll be pick 6 and Sam Flanders for Trac essentially.- Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
Correct. this is why a unified direction is what seperates successful and unsuccessful clubs. Richmond know this so what have they done, won 3 flags, then bottomed out hard and gotten as many high end picks as possible. We've bought in 4 top 12 picks in the last 2 years. Regeneration comes from top 12-15 picks and getting a whole group of them to bring through, then once that ground is in the 50-70 games range and you're starting to see the wheel turn you hit free agency and plug the gaps to complete the puzzle. the challenge teams like the Saints, Dogs, Blues and co have is they sort of exist in that middle space where they don't fully embrace pain, so they never properly build in a way that allows success.- Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
It's so funny to hear people who don't think the draft is an effective way of building a premiership list. of the 2021 flag. Petracca, Oliver, Viney, Salem, Harmes, Fritsch, Kozzie, Jackson, Gawn, McDonald, Bowey, Rivers, Neal-Bullen, Spargo, Jordan, Sparrow, Brayshaw, Petty All drafted by the MFC. that means that our 2021 flag was 18/23 players that we drafted and developed ourselves. Not only is the draft the most effective way of building a premiership team, it's the backbone of ANY successful list build where it fails is when teams draft poorly, don't develop players and have terrible leadership and culture in the lockerroom- THANK YOU FROM DEMONLAND
An amazing community we have, nice to have such a great bunch to ride the highs and lows with! your hard work to make this possible doesn't go unnoticed!- Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
It's so funny to me how badly some fans and the AFL media want to paint the MFC as a basket case. Clearly we haven't been perfect and we've made mistakes but in the last 5 years we've had 3 top 4 finishes, an AFL premiership, a VFL premiership, an AFLW premiership a McLelland trophy, we've signed most of our required players long term, we're on the verge of securing our long term home base. We're not perfect but it's hardly basket case level stuff, we've been pretty good on and off the field if you actually peer through the media noise. How does this relate to Trac? it's difficult to say, we'll probably know where the blame mostly lays with this but it's definitely not just one party, both sides have got huge elements of this wrong, and that's what can unfortunately happen in a messy break up.- Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
I would happily go on record and say i 100% believe either Trac or someone within his circle is likely passing info to Tom Morris, of course i don't have proof of this, but it's fairly obvious isn't it? Go and find me one single story or article from Tom Morris relating to Trac in the last two years that isn't heavily skewed to pro Trac and anti MFC. the theme has been identical including today where the magical story of the MFC pushing Trac out when he didn't want to leave has come up 24 hours after the club released a statement saying Trac was driving it. This sort of thing isn't unusual, and is a tactic to put pressure on the club, but it's a really bad look for Trac in my opinion, I don't think anyone seriously thinks we're going to push Trac out given we don't even have a good replacement lined up. We're pushing Trac out because we desperately want the Crows pick 14 in a heavily compromised draft?- Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
Yep. Shock horror 24 hours after the club releases a statement putting in on Trac, a friendly Journo runs with a story that the club was mean to poor Trac and he had no choice but to seek a trade to a premiership contender.- Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
It's about the most outrageous claim Tom Morris has ever made, which is saying something and i don't blame him because it's not him on his own pushing this. Trac could have declared his love for the club at the best and fairest and this conversation wouldn't happen the MFC not getting on their hands and knees and begging him to stay publicly isn't the same as pushing him out.- Sam Flanders
You’d have to think we’d appeal more than Essendon surely. Haha - Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
