The saints are overpaying like 6 B graders because they have nothing to offer but money. I’d rather go to Essendon than st Kilda.

Not to mention Judd would probably be in the top 10 of this draft if not the top 5, it’s a really good get for freo but I just can’t see them caring what’s fair

If west coast didn’t I suspect we’d have a PSD selection before freo. Maybe we could re draft him? Haha

A lot of players in this years draft are tied to academy picks so basically clubs will bid on them and the host club matches and the next picks are pushed back 1 each time so even the suns pick 6 might end up being pick 8 or 9 it’s also seen as a very shallow draft pool this year so the top end talent drops off quite quickly so even that pick 11 might not be that valuable

Essentially why I bring it up is this If Fremantle low ball us, we can threaten to send him through the pre season draft where he potentially ends up at west coast. This gives us some leverage in a situation where we otherwise have none. If we don’t get a decent offer I’d just send him to the draft to essentially send a message we won’t be walked all over

If an out of contract player requests a trade and the two teams can’t negotiate a trade the player can nominate for the drafts, west coast hold pick 1 and would be a really strong chance to take Judd Mcvee

Yep. First round pick or he goes into the draft. The message to the comp that we are prepared to PSD players I think could be more valuable than a pick 35 in a weak draft

I think this is genuinely one where maybe sending him through the PSD gains us more then just accepting a nothing pick for a good young player

That pick 11 will probably end up being 16 ish anyways which I’d say feels not too far off the mark. But agreed it’s not exactly exciting . I hope we’d at least call up doggas management with a monster long term offer.

I’m assuming west coast have the first pre season draft pick so potentially that’s some leverage If Freo are annoying about the trade? I’m sure they’d pick him

Oh yeah well. Now it’s 1 year. Cop that Judd.- Farewell Judd McVee
He’s not an easy player to value trade wise. I feel like pick 11 is overs but pick 29 is under. Maybe pick 11 drifting out to more like pick 15-17 post academy picks and such is better? Perhaps a later pick swap as well- Trade Targets
Every off season always has 1-2 total surprise trades that the media doesn’t know about until late. It does feel like we’re probably cooking something up- Farewell Judd McVee

Just want to say that your contribution on demonland is incredibly highly valued, don’t listen to anyone saying otherwise or having a crack at you over this. I suspect some posters think there should only be one gender allowed to speak.- Farewell Judd McVee
Mcvee and the spargo compo for pick 11?- Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
It's why i was really encouraged by what King said about just bringing balance to our game plan rather than us over indexing on contest and defense, they're a weapons but we've had nothing else since 2021. If we can elevate our scoring, forward 50 efficiency and transition games and retain our contest and defensive strengths we can bounce back really quickly. MUCH harder to do if we trade off Petracca for a couple of picks in the 20s in a weak draft though.- Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
of course Key forwards are always valuable, but consistently we see in big grand finals that the key forwards do struggle to dominate the game, and the inside bulls generally need to play well for you to win. Brisbane scored 122 points and i believe only 1 goal came from a key forward despite Stewart not being there for the cats, it does show that it's more about pressure and the smaller crumbing players and the mids being able to break stoppages and kick goals. I believe this is largely by virtue of the fact you don't make a grand final without a strong defensive set up, and so it really becomes a midfield arm wrestle that's often decided by contest dominance and forward half x factor.- Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
they got on top in the second inside but once they added Neale it was just all over. The cats didn’t want to do the in and under hard stuff and Ashcroft and Neale destroyed them. It’s funny what works in home and away can easily get exposed in big finals where the value of key forwards drops and inside mids skyrockets- "I hope this doesn't sound like sour grapes" - Chris Scott
If you listen to his press confrence from 2021 when we smacked them in the prelim it's so similar "There are lots of reasons and challenges i won't share publicly about how this happened" then immediately after the story did the rounds the cats were riddles with the flu. I would love Chris Scott to coach Melbourne, he's clearly an all time great but at times he does get a little bit "Sour grapesy" in my opinion- Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
Then his twin Brother who a lot of people think might become even better. and they've got another Jet coming through the Academy this year as well.- Welcome to Demonland: Steven King
Tell you what though, pre-injury before the season started McAdam looked set for a massive year, it's just a bit of bad luck for him i reckon- Welcome to Demonland: Steven King
Windsor, Kozzie, Rivers. we want the ball winners to flick it out so they can use their speed and break lines for us. Lindsay and Langford are beautiful ball users - Farewell Judd McVee
