I definitely agree that it won't be Bailey Humphrey, but i think we'll find a way to get a deal done involving some combo of picks and young players that we like. I am still really hopefully it'll be pick 6 and Sam Flanders for Trac essentially.

Correct. this is why a unified direction is what seperates successful and unsuccessful clubs. Richmond know this so what have they done, won 3 flags, then bottomed out hard and gotten as many high end picks as possible. We've bought in 4 top 12 picks in the last 2 years. Regeneration comes from top 12-15 picks and getting a whole group of them to bring through, then once that ground is in the 50-70 games range and you're starting to see the wheel turn you hit free agency and plug the gaps to complete the puzzle. the challenge teams like the Saints, Dogs, Blues and co have is they sort of exist in that middle space where they don't fully embrace pain, so they never properly build in a way that allows success.

It's so funny to hear people who don't think the draft is an effective way of building a premiership list. of the 2021 flag. Petracca, Oliver, Viney, Salem, Harmes, Fritsch, Kozzie, Jackson, Gawn, McDonald, Bowey, Rivers, Neal-Bullen, Spargo, Jordan, Sparrow, Brayshaw, Petty All drafted by the MFC. that means that our 2021 flag was 18/23 players that we drafted and developed ourselves. Not only is the draft the most effective way of building a premiership team, it's the backbone of ANY successful list build where it fails is when teams draft poorly, don't develop players and have terrible leadership and culture in the lockerroom

It's so funny to me how badly some fans and the AFL media want to paint the MFC as a basket case. Clearly we haven't been perfect and we've made mistakes but in the last 5 years we've had 3 top 4 finishes, an AFL premiership, a VFL premiership, an AFLW premiership a McLelland trophy, we've signed most of our required players long term, we're on the verge of securing our long term home base. We're not perfect but it's hardly basket case level stuff, we've been pretty good on and off the field if you actually peer through the media noise. How does this relate to Trac? it's difficult to say, we'll probably know where the blame mostly lays with this but it's definitely not just one party, both sides have got huge elements of this wrong, and that's what can unfortunately happen in a messy break up.

I would happily go on record and say i 100% believe either Trac or someone within his circle is likely passing info to Tom Morris, of course i don't have proof of this, but it's fairly obvious isn't it? Go and find me one single story or article from Tom Morris relating to Trac in the last two years that isn't heavily skewed to pro Trac and anti MFC. the theme has been identical including today where the magical story of the MFC pushing Trac out when he didn't want to leave has come up 24 hours after the club released a statement saying Trac was driving it. This sort of thing isn't unusual, and is a tactic to put pressure on the club, but it's a really bad look for Trac in my opinion, I don't think anyone seriously thinks we're going to push Trac out given we don't even have a good replacement lined up. We're pushing Trac out because we desperately want the Crows pick 14 in a heavily compromised draft?

Yep. Shock horror 24 hours after the club releases a statement putting in on Trac, a friendly Journo runs with a story that the club was mean to poor Trac and he had no choice but to seek a trade to a premiership contender.

It's about the most outrageous claim Tom Morris has ever made, which is saying something and i don't blame him because it's not him on his own pushing this. Trac could have declared his love for the club at the best and fairest and this conversation wouldn't happen the MFC not getting on their hands and knees and begging him to stay publicly isn't the same as pushing him out.

Sam Flanders
You’d have to think we’d appeal more than Essendon surely. Haha

For the love of god don’t tell me the barista has signed a lease and isn’t going anywhere! I’ve been hurt too much this week.

I’d appreciate if we could address him as “future captain disco turner” from now on.

I think to do anything other than look deeply into why one of the best players the club has ever had is desperate to leave would be ridiculous to be honest This is the sort of situation that needs to be fully reviewed and understood to make sure we prevent it in the future. You can’t become a destination club without understanding and admitting why you aren’t one, unfortunately just saying well he’s a selfish dog doesn’t help anyone.

I’d be really curious to know what changes trac actually demanded within the football club that were driving his unhappiness or if it’s simply we aren’t in a position to contend and that’s what he wants to do. It feels like things have just gone downhill since Gus retired for the MFC. That felt like the beginning of the end sadly

His constant attempts to escape the club paint a pretty clear picture.

Steven May
I reckon i'd feel more confident with Steven May at full back than Griffen Logue, especially given the pressure will be right on if they don't improve. May is an experienced premiership player who immediately makes them better and would come for free essentially. it's an odd one.

Hang on!? Freo is in the mix now as well? How on earth do they have 1.3 million spare?

Steven May
I am puzzled as to why North wouldn't be keen on Steven May.

I feel our three biggest issues have been Toxic culture and player behavior - This is being addressed, players leaving, moving on, refreshed coaching panel Low crowd attendances - I believe this is part of why Goodwin was let go, we needed a new coach to generate excitement and play an attacking brand to get bums in seats Home base - This is as close as it's ever been in the time i've been following the club It might be sad to say goodbye to some players and we might go backwards before we go forwards but all the changes i can see seem to suggest to me the club has accurately identified the issues and they've set about correcting them properly, with hard decisions, good strategic moves and no shortcuts or fairytales

Sam Flanders
Even if Ned Flanders nominates us and Trac nominates Adelaide it probably opens up a path to a three way deal where a deal right now with the Crows looks very difficult

Paul Guerra made it pretty clear on the radio it'll take a pretty special deal to get Trac to another club, i don't think there is any chance we'll be accepting average picks or paying any of his salary. he said "it's still our strong preference Christian stays at Melbourne"

Hardest job in footy managing a list when your ability to attract talent is critically hamstrung by talk of off field issues, no home base and poor crowd attendances. Thankfully it looks like the club is finally on the way to addressing all 3

I would just put a pin in the Trac trade idea if Flanders doesn't nominate us, i don't see a net win for the MFC unless it includes Flanders.

Given Goodwin, Jordan and Grundy are all at the Swans, they'd have plenty of intel into Trac as a person, so it'll be interesting to see if they emerge as an option. I reckon they're probably more interested in Curnow for the moment and will see how that plays out
