Wow. The AFL can enjoy the mega law suits they've just opened themselves up to! -

My goodness this whole situation is ridiculous. how does an attempted smother result in someone bracing and making head high contact with one of the oppositions best players early on in a final Not buying it at all -
Stuff drafting a kid, poach a key forward.

I actually really rate the combination of Petty and Van Rooyen with Jefferson developing. i don't think we're in a horrible spot if we can improve our entries. I'd be looking at a Key back. -
It really is a sign of how much of a mess West Coast is that they aren't doing cartwheels at the idea of bringing in a talent like Harley Reid. For the record i think they'll end up with Curtin one way or another.
-
It'll be Tmac for Melksham in my opinion and Tmac will be told to get on his bike and be the link up player
-
To be fair, Flanders also struggled to break into the same team, when he got in he went BANG though haha
-
It's a strange one. Goodwin, Fagan and McRae have taken top 4 lists to the top 4 so about par Ross Lyon has done well with an awful list, Kingsley has exceeded expectations Michael Voss has a ferarri and just worked out how to put it into gear after almost driving it off a cliff
-
We aren't getting Harley Reid, West Coast are more likely to take Curtin pick 1 than they are to trade that pick and miss out on a gun, W.A prospect like that. I think we are far more likely to push hard for the Suns first round pick with our picks 15, 24,36 and potentially a future first and hope we can somehow snag a combinaion of Duursma and Watson who would immediately add some incredible talent and X factor to our team. but that's just my opinion

Tmac is moving bloody well, best he has for a long time. it'll be him that comes in

Ross Lyon from St Kilda - Fremantle i believe was similar to this i believe? -
Pick your favourite Demons side of all time

No Nathan Brown is a shame! one of the most underrated defenders i can remember -
He's got the ability to play inside/outside but has mainly played outside given the Swans inside quality. i expect he'd do something similar with us

What are they saying at Glenferrie Road
Ted Lasso replied to DeelightfulPlay's topic in Melbourne Demons
Statement game from the MFC, not just because it would be winning a game we're expected to win, but i expect us to be absolutely ruthless all over the ground and really grind the Hawks into the dirt. we'll be looking for a win that sends a message and reflects a team hitting absolute top form. -
I hope we're having a serious look at Dylan stephens, classy mid, former top 5 pick, could immediately add something to our side. given the Swans interest in Brodie Grundy i wouldn't be against a swap occuring there.

I think sometimes we misread these things. none of the players you mentioned are elite pressure players. potentially Carlton can't reach the levels of pressure they did last night with those guys in. It's a totally different game, but 253 as a pressure rating is off the charts, if you bring that you're not going to lose very many games and the fact we probably should have won despite it only reenforces our flag credentials.

At the end of the day 9/10 times when Salem roles inside 50 with Space he nails the goal and we're singing a very different tune. we withstood an amazing amount, fought back, took control and just didn't quite nail our chances. great win by Carlton, but hardly a disaster for us
-
Nope, Brisbane can't defend well enough to withstand 20 inside 50's in a quarter and pressure above 250 for sustained period. if that was even Brisbane or Collingwood i suspect Carlton hit quarter time with a 6-7 goal lead and the game is nearly cooked. I don't think we are, or will get enough credit for withstanding that type of momentum. i've never seen a better defensive effort on a football field. if we are just a tiny bit cleaner we win that game by 3-4 goals which is remarkable because i don't think anyone else could have beaten Carlton playing like that.
-
2 best teams in the competition going head to head in an absolute 18 round belter. bloody loved the game, hated the result. there was SOOOOOO much to like about our performance and i am more confident we can win it all. No team outside of the two that played tonight is capable of playing at that level. and the scary part is neither were at our best.

Significant news. it really is incredible to think back to 2012 when the club was in legitimate trouble and think just 11 years later we'd be around the 70k member mark, had won a flag, look a big chance to win another, on the verge of securing a facility upgrade. all the wonderful people involved have done a remarkable job.
-
I stopped taking you seriously the moment you suggested Viney of 2023 was "no more than an equal of steele"
-
Smith goes forward, Hibberd covers down back. the Blues don't have quite as many talls as we usually might so we can afford to go a little smaller down there. Smith has shown the capacity to clunk a mark up forward
-
This is really going to be a midfield battle. the Saints contained the Blues pretty well but didn't have the talent in the middle to maintain their dominance, i suspect we have more midfield talent than the Blues so they'll be relying on pressure to cause mistakes. Without McKay/SOS i think they'll struggle to kick 100 points against us, and as long as we don't just bomb it to Weitering over and over again we should be fairly dangerous in attack. I don't see a natural match up for Petracca in their side.
-
Right now we are a top 4 team based on talent, our system isn't top 4, teams have figured it out, and our hunger isn't what it was in 2021. I suspect the club needs to do a review and make some tweaks for us to really contend this year, the talent is there, but i don't think we're any better than the team that went out in straight sets right now
-
That's where he and James Jordan will be playing in 24 i suspect. maybe Tommo as well.

I'm shocked. i can't even wrap my head around the logic that leads to this conclusion
