  1. Yep. Guessing they’d have taken the 3 standouts which sound like it was Buckley, Kelly and lade. If Buckley was the favourite he may have been offered the role and decline which is odd. Why go through all this only to say no?
  2. Conflict of interest largely. I mean if your long term best interests revolve around a different club being successful, naturally your bias kicks in and maybe you start trying to subtly recruit people. This can easily derail a club before a final. it’s just more simple and clean to cut the cord and the club be aware you’re applying so plans are in place.
  3. I think they should definitely be able to pursue any position they like inside or outside the football industry but if you take up a role as a senior coach of an opposition team your tenure at the current club ends the moment you accept that job.
  4. This is very very odd.
  5. Mate I was just thinking this! Every time dazzle posts I open this expecting to see a twitter story saying “ dees have chosen Nathan Buckley and called a press conference”
  6. Granted it could be optics. The club saying “look at us conducting interviews, this isn’t a boat race” probably the benefit for the assistants in question is it does raise their profile to get a podium finish
  7. Keep an eye out for the announcement!
  8. The panel also wouldn’t tell them they’re great. But if a prospective senior coach lets out talk they were amazing then the future job they go for they’ll have a leg up potentially. Especially helpful if in this case they never had a legitimate shot at the role anyways. At least they get something beyond experience It’s like artificial momentum
  9. It’s almost certainly the coaches and managers leaking this rather than the panel.
  10. The entire cats culture has been built around respecting opposition, being yourself and being selfless on and off the field. I think a Kelly/bartel double has the potential to transform the club. It would be a risk, especially if Buckley is keen. But if we make that call I won’t be unhappy
  11. Kelly, king as senior assistant and Bartel as head of strategy as suggested would be a good starting point. Combined with Chaplin, jones and maybe we can find a food forwards coach like Caracalla to come on board
  12. My strong preference is still Buckley but I can’t help but be intrigued by James Kelly. I’ve got a feeling he’s going to be a very good coach when he does get a gig with us or someone else
  13. It blows my mind that anyone at Essendon would be more annoyed at Sam Mitchell than themselves for pushing so many players to want to leave with pure incompetence. Merrett, Ridley, Draper and I’m sure more we don’t know about yet. It’s not Sam Mitchell it’s Essendon being a mess
  14. Remember in his youth where clarry went off at the muppet blues fan in the crowd with the 784 chins and rough lid? I still laugh when I think of that
  15. Maybe some special sauce perks like Goodwin and brayshaws salaries secretly popping outside of the soft cap and salary cap as well to smooth it over even further
  16. Offt. James Kelly then? Or Bucks is genuinely a chance to knock the whole machine back? Im amazed goody isn’t the new target. He’s got a better record than bucks and wants to coaxh
  17. I’m guessing Buckley has been offered the role, if he knocks it back it’ll be James Kelly and we will hunt for a senior assistant to support him.
  18. Ah Neeldy. It was a special time. the one time all of Demonland agreed on something, with that something being that we’d made a big blue in coach selection.
  19. Sounds like the club said we might offer you a contract depending on the trade period and JB said he’d rather look elsewhere
  20. No clue mate, I’d guess Nathan Buckley would be one, otherwise I’d imagine he’d have left the race if he felt it didn’t go well. so maybe Buckley, Kelly and lade/gian/king makes you wonder if we have a plan A, B and C if option A would be now considering a job offer and we’re waiting for an answer?
  21. There was a report on here from twitter that James Kelly was one who blew us away
  22. Correct. He’s building a very nice little rap sheet of unsavoury incidents in his first year that the cats seemingly have been totally unwilling and unable to actually prevent or respond to.
  23. If Geelong are as serious an organisation as every says they are, smith is going to face a fairly significant response for this. you can’t be abusing a photographer doing her job at an open training in front of kids and families
  24. The million dollar question is “is everyone besides Nathan Buckley also 20 lengths back with no running room?”
