  1. Perhaps CS would call each of them into his office to critique his new blazer designs?

  3. This is a really good point. I think that Neeld's role was much bigger than coaching because of the magnitude of change. He lacked the support of a Head of FD or CEO with the right experience that could support and help drive the change at an organisation level. I dont think we will ever know if he can coach or not. I also think a decision had to be made because of the need to sell hope to uncontracted players like Silvia, Gawn and Watts, and supporters. We must land a credentialed premiership coach - Roos, Williams, Matthews.
  4. Knights may have been good at developing the list to a stage that golden boy could take over.
  5. Re the recruitment v development argument our problems have been: 1. Picking the wrong players in the context of our list. E.g. recruiting the most talented players without adequate consideration of the player's heart, work ethic and character. 2. Letting go of players with qualities the group was lacking, e.g. James MacDonald should have been retained for his leadership and character regardless of how many games he would be fit to play.
  6. By the end of this year Pedo might turn out to be a really good pickup - he's been solid down back in the VFL and building form and confidence at AFL level. Could cement a place ahead of Dunn/Seller by season end and become a key part of our defence.
  7. Good post Choke. The reality is that we at a similar development stage to GWS and are performing to this level. The things that will see us improve: 1. Getting our best team on the park (add Grimes, Clark, Frawley, Viney, Byrnes) and take out Mckenzie, Fitzy, Rodan, Dunn and Tapscott. 2. Putting another season or two into young/inexperienced players - Evans, Viney, Toumpas, Gawn, Strauss, M jones and Terlich. 3. Consolidating fringe/development players to make room for a couple of A grade mids and new dratt picks - decide on Magner/Couch, Sellar/Pedo/Davis/Gillies, Dunn/Strauss/Tynan, Nicholson/Jetta/Bail, Spencer/Fitzy and Rodan 4. Bring in a couple of A grade mids and development players 5. Most importantly, get the team playig the style we want to play so that as the majority of our team that are on the park reach AFL standar, the game plan is already instilled into the players. This year we will be lucky to win 3-4 games and will be competing with GWS for the spoon, however not doing things like putting Davey behind the ball (as we did under Bailey, which teams realised and tagged him out of the game) is necessary to getting all 18 fielded players to play a role and be accountable. We could play to the players strengths and compensate for the weaknesses and might win a few extra games and end up with a better percentage, but if we do this will only ever be an average football team. Or we could feel some pain now and develop a side that is accountable and can stand up to finals footy. Long term no one will care if we were rubbish from 2006 - 2014/15 if we can become a top 4 side and regular finals feature for the next decade or more.
  8. Ablett Jnr is as good as the next two players in the comp combined. Neitz would be up there for MFC.
  9. Many of the GC players have been playig together for 40- 50 odd games. They have some serious talent and will be a real force in a coiple of seasons. The media were calling for Guy Mckenna's head only a couple of month back. Good example of how quickly thigs can turn.
  10. Thanks Dee-eee. This made me smile. Im looking forward to being at the G on Monday.
  11. The only thing we can do to stop this sort of press is to perform on the field. If the team is able to improve and earn respect through playing hard tough footy then this sort of negative press can help to galvanize the team. The media can GAGF!
  12. Warning - I almost had a seizure reading this and this may cause psychosis. It's like reading the Unibomber Manifesto.
  13. Great post! The MFC grows on us in many ways similar to an abusive spouse or stockholm syndrome. In any case Ill be at the MCG on monday - Go Dees!
  14. The errors will fade away as the players get more games playing together
  15. Most people I meet from the UK tell me "I follow the Bombers because I like aeroplanes"
  16. This pisses me off. If the Ox wanted whats best for his club he'd be using his profile to sin up members and encouraging supporters to attend Mondays game. Decisions on the coach should be based on an informed assessment of his ability to perform and implement the plan. Peter Jackson will do this. While passionate the Ox is trying to force Peter Jackson/The Board's hand in removing Neeld. Not cool.
  17. Imagine if one of Neelds KPIs was the degree to which he divides opinion on Demonland
  18. So you are saying our problem is the scoreboard and we need to hire an experienced person that will increase our numbers on the scoreboard, in particular under the letters G and T. Very insightful!
  19. I respect the way North have not relied on draft concessions to develop their list. Our way out of this mess is through hard work rather than handouts. We need to earn respect and I think additional salary cap or a priority pick would undermine this. I dont have an issue with equalisation as it allows the AFL to schedule games to maximise profit and distribute these profits in a manner that does not disadvantage weaker clubs.
