  1. Live ladder showing a drop of 5% in Lions % We are now within 2% https://www.liveladders.com/AFL/
  2. AFL rules allow for payouts due to long term injury. The amount included in the salary cap is agreed with the AFL. It's not 100% by any means. Commonly used for retirements due to concussion. Where it becomes tough is the so called "Buddy Principle". When Sydney offered Buddy a contract going beyond his seemingly useful playing days the AFL said they would not allow the injury payout rule to be used if the the injury was age related wear and tear
  3. Regulation first quarters in both games. Hopefully same for us tomorrow PS..........that didn't age well Come on Cats
  4. This was mentioned in the media a few weeks back. If correct sounds like some sloppy paper work. Not quite as bad as the Dogs and Pies with Treloar but up there. Hopefully they covered off the scenario plus others such as smoothing out his contract. As salary dumps become more common it's perhaps time that the agreements became less opaque
  5. A 4 goal haul and some good one on one body work tomorrow, might see a Schache call up against North
  6. Another loss to NZ coming up... Union is an example of a sport that went from high profile to unseen. (Lesson...never put your premium product behind a niche paywall)
  7. Like most I worry about the ever changing forward structure but understand that this is what 2023 has dealt us. If you had told me at the start of the season that we would be sweating on the performance of Chandler and Melksham my eyes would have rolled. Oliver out and now Sparrow adds to the concern. Looking forward to a regulation 30 point win but...................
  8. You can win but your percentage goes down as it did last week. It's not just margins but relative scores. Numerator/denominator.... both move A 25 point win of say 100 to 75 sees our percentage remain relatively unchanged. Agree that it's largely academic but in the context of resting players four games out of season's end it's a factor
  9. If we win this weekend by a decent margin.. say 24 points.. thus protecting our percentage I can see room for rotations. Howe being injured has removed one player from the rotation stakes but I imagine that Laurie and Dunstan would be in the mix. At VFL level there are not exactly a surplus of KPP's available for a rotation
  10. Too early Chandler for example.. needs to have a good run of form Will Fritsch be fit? Melksham could have say 3 games of 3 goals or more... is he dropped Smith?? Jordon? both possibles depending on form JVR.... needs to show a little more in the next 5 games
  11. Agree At least he signed the standard 2 year extension like everyone except that guy now playing for Freo Looking forward to seeing him debut post bye 2024
  12. A key player for the near future Good luck Matt
  13. No more small forwards For that matter.... no more small players please
  14. None of those teams play the exclusive corridor game so I expect our gameplan to dominate. Hawthorn should be another good test of our ability to counter the corridor style. North in Tasmania... I have no idea
  15. Out of interest how has Reid fared in his games for Carlton reserves ? Duursma had a few very good moments for Casey without starring against a lowly Coburg.
  16. Could be correct OD Maybe consider resting Max over one of the next two matches and rucking Grundy. As I recall the Tiger's main ruck is out The bus is certainly not firing on all cylinders and there's not many matches left to tune up all the parts
  17. 2/3 weeks away unfortunately plus a game or two to reach top form
  18. Need Petracca back in the midfield.
  19. That's the Collingwood system adopted by most clubs these days.... the half back line is the absolute key to defending against it. You also need to be ready to rebound through the corridor and not via the wing which is our go to play
  20. It's kid's round Let them enjoy and remember
  21. Agree but letting them kick 7:2 in that last quarter was abysmal
  22. As they used to say in the school report card.... Could do Better
  23. Some will say this was a gutsy win but.............
  24. Can we ever breakaway !!!
  25. needless to say .. now is the time for one or two more PS.... too soon
