Just a straight swap between Dogs and us with nominal picks (if required). They're going to be on similar money next contract. Dogs desperate for defence. JUH a little light bodied as a Petty forward replacement but an exceptional prospect. Doesn't address the Petty go home factor but in my imaginary world if clubs could trade players it makes sense
-
Can someone remind me of the usual number of players taken in a draft. IIRC it's between 50 and 60 but I could be wrong. Pick 44 if so is at the wrong end of the barrel especially when it's around 49 allowing for concessions
-
Out of interest would you trade Petty for JUH at the Bulldogs? Makes sense for both clubs
-
Oh great Another year of will he or won't he
-
Why does an uncontracted 36 year old (surely a free agent) attract a draft pick. $750k... you have to be kidding.. $450 plus incentives taking it to $600k for a 40 goal year

Collingwood managed without a ruckman for around six weeks. They won 5 IIRC Rucks can be covered

It allows us at the very least to frontload a few guys thus allowing some cap space going forward

The 2023 Draft and Trade Targets Thread

Confirmed in the Age Fremantle small forward Lachie Schultz has asked for a move to Collingwood. The Docker, who kicked 33 goals this season and 30 goals in 2022, informed the Dockers on Monday that he wants to move to Victoria. -
I could see Hawkins doing a Buddy and rarely training. At the right price a one year deal is not that silly. I don't think we'll get anything out of TMac and probably little out of BBB
-
The problem with Petty as a forward is price. He'll probably command a 30% premium as a forward over what he would be worth down back. Hopefully they lock up a contract extension earlier rather than later
-
Deserves a bump PF

Could go out with a bit of a bang though

Is McAdam another small forward? We're awash with them

Wait a minute I thought this guy was Fritsch like and now..............

Interesting from an Age article today. Five clubs have interviewed him. MFC not one of them. If the Eagles are not convinced Reid will stay, they can trade away pick one for multiple picks, presumably to use on West Australian top-five prospect Daniel Curtin. In a sign of who else might be interested, Reid said the Eagles, North Melbourne, Hawthorn, Gold Coast and Greater Western Sydney have all interviewed him. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/the-no-1-question-being-asked-of-this-year-s-top-pick-harley-reid-20231007-p5eah9.html Just noticed he played for Tongala. Was that in our old zone around Shepparton?

Think of it as a picnic. Bring your own chair and picnic rug. Walk from the car to the gate is 2 minutes max -
It's the next leg of the journey to being a bigger club. The other thing we will lose if we stop going to Alice is maybe 5-10k of memberships as these deals are often partly paid by the Govt taking out memberships which allows them to give out free tickets

This year was not a great one for the alliance. Mind you it wasn't that good for the VFL comp. Hard to see it getting worse so I look forward to more "connection" next year Thanks KC for your tireless efforts.

Naughton signing for $10M for 8 years makes JUH's contract negotiations next year interesting. Some pundits rate JUH above Naughton

Assuming Oliver stays the process has been interesting in looking at how clubs value draft picks over proven players. No matter how you look at it Oliver is in the top fifteen of present players and at 26 has another say 7 years to give. The fact that presumably neither Eagles or North were willing to float picks 1 or 2 plus a sweetener intrigues me. The same happened last year with Jackson where we got 2 pick 13's (by a fluke the future 13 morphed into 5) for a pick 3 proven key position player. To the uninitiated the market seems skewed and if that be the market compensatory draft picks, Academy and father-son picks are incredibly valuable
