NON-MFC: Round 03
Apparently a little wet underfoot at the Gabba with 50mm yesterday and 35mm the day before. Less rain today and tomorrow

Tasmanian AFL Team
The Tassie solution was easy but no one wanted it. North plays ten games in Melbourne which were designated home games and 10 games in Tasmania. After 5 years the team and its admin is moved to Hobart but still continues its 10 games in Melbourne. Sure it gives North a leg up financially and a continual home ground advantage but it is better than propping up two teams... North with AFL money and Tasmania with Government money As to NT getting a team why not Ballarat or Bendigo.. it makes as much sense if not more. Anyway good luck to the Devils... they may need it $4M odd penalty every year that the stadium is not built is a lot for someone to find

Tasmanian AFL Team
To have a 20th team just for the sake of it does make you question the whole Tasmanian effort. It's not as if both teams in any of the interstate cities are playing before sell out crowds. TV wise very few people watch more than 3 games a weekend I would have thought Tourism wise Hobart/Launceston are constrained by the number of flights. Let's say 2000 (10 planes) per match from interstate for 11 home games. It will take a long time to pay off that stadium.

2024 Experts Predictions
Was thinking this yesterday. How easily the wave/corridor game has been countered. I really thought the Hawks would come at us in the last quarter but they continued the chip around which Collingwood have been reduced to. The same with Adelaide. The only successful proponent of the art is GWS Interesting to see how it develops over the next 4-6 weeks

Sydney complaining about Essendon tactics off the ball...
Runs a company called Zooz which uses a computer program to identify and manage "talent". Not to be confused with Zooz in USA who seem to be a home automation business There's some youtube videos from 2021. Not sure how successful it is but good luck to him

Sydney complaining about Essendon tactics off the ball...
Ironic... there's more money in business analytic tools than the businesses they analyse

TRAINING: Monday 25th March, 2024
A few days at an upmarket hotel in Elizabeth training at the home of the Bulldogs would be wonderful preparation.

PREGAME: Rd 03 vs Port Adelaide
Now that the sun has risen and the injury position a little clearer it seems to me only one change... Tomlinson in for May Play Petty forward BBB holds his place but I can't see his body holding up for the Adelaide game. A pity McAdam is not available. Fullarton is the possibility. Of course you could reverse it and play BBB in the Adelaide game if it makes more sense tactically.

Sydney complaining about Essendon tactics off the ball...
Off topic but on the subject of reviews the IPL is now allowing a review of wides. Madness. Some of the reviews from this weekend were madness

Sydney complaining about Essendon tactics off the ball...
This tactic could easily be eliminated by a post match review. If found to be a persistent tactic a fine against the team escalating gradually to points reduction. The commentators live in a "tough blokey" bygone world. Like faking it in soccer time to deal with these issues.

2024 Injury List
As was pointed out on the Casey thread, Add in Brayshaw and Smith and we now have 12 players on the injured list. It's getting tough

CASEY: Rd 01 vs Box Hill
I believe it's from the Gippsland League

2024 Injury List
If that's right I'd be thinking 4-6 weeks and possibly post mid season bye
-
CASEY: Rd 01 vs Box Hill
9 players on the injured list (not counting Lever and May) But then again Hawthorn had 8 injured on their list
-
CASEY: Rd 01 vs Box Hill
The two players who probably had the most to play for were Fullarton and Tomlinson. Neither did well but Tomlinson was passable. Fullarton... I'll give him a few more weeks Does the VFL play next week or is it a bye

CASEY: Rd 01 vs Box Hill
O Tomlinson Are we seeing the gentle closing of the window

CASEY: Rd 01 vs Box Hill
Lose to Coburg who went 0-18 last year and you kind of know we weren't going well
-
CASEY: Rd 01 vs Box Hill
The continual dump kicks out of our defensive 50 are amusing

CASEY: Rd 01 vs Box Hill
A painful watch Need to apply a lot of optimism to find a promising player
-
CASEY: Rd 01 vs Box Hill
We're six odd AFL players down due to injury which is relevant and we have little up forward.

CASEY: Rd 01 vs Box Hill
Was thinking Casey might have a downer this year but it could be a big one

CASEY: Rd 01 vs Box Hill
Post above suggests new guidelines. Pre pandemic dogs were very welcome. I can recall Neville Jetta and his family having a lovely little dog at Coburg. Went to Box Hill immediately post pandemic and certainly lots of dogs... all well behaved
