Time for the MFC to develop a twenty to fifty year plan that sees it relocate to Casey with a intermediate (ten year) CBD option. Uber sky transport will take the latte sipping players out there in a few minutes in not that many years.

The Docklands has two big issues... First is the cost of land.. sure we get it as a gift but the tendency for training facilities these days is exclusive other than invitees (Essendon and their disabled athletes alignment for example). If the land is gifted it is very hard for an argument that it be exclusive and not public parkland. Second is the community benefit argument. Hard to get much sympathy for the Docklands community if there is one. (They are mainly wealthy retirees, airbnbs, overseas landlords or cheap student lets if the stories are to be believed.)

We left the control of the MCC because we were an afterthought in their eyes. Whether it would have made a difference to our power base if we had left earlier is hard to say. The MCC isn't the way forward unless we want to be a big second in the relationship

not disgraced... kicked a good goal and was prominent around the many packs. Sat near the dugout for a quarter or two and it was almost comical listening to the players trying to run the interchanges without a runner. Lots of name screaming.. it was like old fashioned tag. PS: just noticed he had 27 possessions but like Lewis' possessions they were not memorably damaging. (Not to say that Lewis did not have a good game but other than once when he took a courageous mark that in the end was called out of bound the possessions were mainly of a link up nature. At one stage I noticed him in at a centre bounce which I thought strange.)

Hard to get a handle on VFL form as the game was so congested and scrappy. Preuss dominated with pack marks in the first half but went out of the game from a marking viewpoint in the second half. The number of behinds suggest we dominated but I never got that feeling. More it was one of comfortable superiority with Coburg nipping at our heels. Spargo tried but couldn't break free. Much the same with JKH and KK. The day can best be described as hard ball get... handball to nearby player who gets caught trying to break free. Lewis is a good example of a known factor in the salary cap spreadsheet. His salary will be well and truly marked for elsewhere. Where it becomes difficult is dealing with the outliers which Frost could become. Brayshaw was a perfect example of such a player who went from a struggling possible trade/delist to a match winner in the space of 10-15 games and quite properly commanded a large but comparatively unexpected rise. Tom Mac Donald was not too dissimilar. That is what I meant by saying we are not having much luck with our contract renewal windows. Anyway it's a good problem to have.

Fair enough.. averages are skewed by the highs and lows whereas a median is the figure around which the greatest number of players are based. The best figure would probably be median of players in the same game range. I take the salary cap stories with a grain of salt. Every club has to pay a very high percentage of the salary cap so there is never that much room. It's more about front and back loading. In theory we should have been front loading the plus 25 years of age players in anticipation of needing room to pay the emerging stars.. which please please we have. My comment re Garlett was that if unplanned money needs to be found that is a source. The money men would have factored in a reasonable renewal salary for Jeffy. The other unknown in the salary cap component is where Jones fits in for 2020.

we don't have much luck when it comes to the signing window... the spreadsheet boys would have had him in at base plus say $100-150k giving around $250k at most. Another three or four decent games and you can probably add another $100k per annum. Ironically it could seal Garlett's fate.
