Preuss misses from 30 after his second possession for the match

Round 11 Non MFC games
Did a bit of research on it last year. It is in fact a trade mission with various Australian companies and governments using the game and the lead up as marketing opportunities. In that sense fine but it has nothing to do with football and is a questionable use of around $2M of AFL money. And don't get me started on this being an away game for Port !!!

Round 11 Non MFC games
Didn't realise the Shanghai jolly is on this weekend. Apparently a few Saints players down with "food poisoning". Having eaten street food all over the world I have to laugh a little. Peter Gordon (chairman of the Billdogs) was asked why the AFL pumped money into this game and he admitted that he was lost as there was no business case to show that it delivered any benefit.

Umpires hate Melbourne
amazing over reaction https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/afl-2019-afl-bans-richmond-cheer-squad-member-for-green-maggot-umpire-slur/news-story/b22e4161225bbdf77b9f007892039030 “The football field is the umpire’s place of work and it is seen that any abuse directed towards them or any on-field official is deemed as workplace bullying and will not be tolerated,’’ the memo said. The ban comes after the AFL sent Carlton a “please explain” afters is cheer squad called an umpire a “w***er”.

Round 11 Non MFC games
well for those who still believe in Santa Claus a Kangas win could be a good one for the MFC. Must say Brown is expert at playing for frees and I mean that in a technical way.

Round 11 Non MFC games
One has to ask sometimes if the AFL has it's match ticketing/promotions right. North home game tonight against a team that claims 100,000 members (perhaps 200,000 plus supporters) but there is barely half a stadium full (25,000). A team like North could make big money by promoting itself to the Tiges fans as a cheap way to see your team etc etc. Then again the cynic in me tells me that these membership numbers are perhaps flakey to say the least.

Round 11 Non MFC games
Has to be one of the most lacklustre rounds of football from a match up viewpoint. Hard to get excited about any of the matches but in keeping with the impossible dream the following results are probably in our interest. Richmond Collingwood Giants Geelong Lions v Hawks... draw Saints Carlton' Eagles

Demons Grand Plan for Yarra Park Training HQ
ah... a glitch of the system... I was quoting Razer but used his quote that was embedded in your post... I suppose I am now a purveyor of fake news !!

Demons Grand Plan for Yarra Park Training HQ
Have you considered Pastafarianism and the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. I am particularly enamoured with their theory that global warming is due to the reduction in the number of pirates plying our high seas.

T Boyd for Werribee = Tom Boyd but not "the" Tom Boyd

PREGAME: Rd 11 vs Adelaide
Is being flummoxed the equivalent of being in a state of flux?

PREGAME: Rd 11 vs Adelaide
hasn't exactly "dominated" but they were okay The absence of Preuss amazes me ... should be included if only to relieve Max in the bathroom heat of Darwin

Is play-on at all costs still the way to go?
Interesting thread. GWS as the table shows is the best at the play on game. I have seen them live being beaten on three occasions in the last twelve months and it is always by hard tackling teams who prevent the quick handball release from the pack. One of those occasions was of course the MFC win in round 23 last year. Most would agree that GWS are incredibly talented and perhaps if they cannot pull it off it shows that it is isn't the way to go.

CHANGES: Rd 11 vs Adelaide
Preuss is an automatic selection for Darwin simply on the basis of resting Max during the game. It will not tell us much about playing both but if it even looks like working I would repeat the experiment against Collingwood. Preuss is not instead of Smith or Weideman he's in addition to one of those two. The cost is in one less mid on the bench.

Jordan Lewis suspended for 1 week.
Lewis has been a valuable addition. If both he and Jones don't go into 2020 we need to look at another mature age recruit if we believe we are anywhere near the window. Let me ask... if you had given Lewis a two year contract in 2016 would you have given him another year at the end of 2018?

2019 List Changes
The Jones that we saw on Sunday against GWS doesn't get another year. The level of injuries means we don't have to debate the "Drop" word at present but it's time to begin thinking about the question. How it is handled will be a measure of our maturity as a club.

Jordan Lewis suspended for 1 week.
a new low.... given our form we can afford to have a laugh. I wonder if he gets paid.... there used to be clauses about pay being withheld if suspended but I don't think they have them anymore.

2019 List Changes
It's probably a play off between Stretch and JKH. Assuming Maynard goes we need at least one back up mid. Stretch should get say another 2 games and then JKH can have a run of 5 or 6 games. I'd love to see them both make it but alas .......

CHANGES: Rd 11 vs Adelaide
Agree The stand alone teams are generally stronger across the board than the aligned teams where the aligned team has more than say 6 players injured. They also have the benefit of training as a team whereas the Casey listed players rarely train with the AFL squad.

Looking Forward 2020 & Beyond
Perhaps the easiest thing is to look towards the next six to eight weeks and ask what improvement we would like to see win lose or draw. For me it's relatively easy... I want to see improvement in the form of Brayshaw and Viney plus I want Tom Mac to improve his marking skills and his interaction with one or two of our small forwards. The drop off in the form of Jones is alarming and was highlighted against GWS. Did he win any one on ones? To me the finding of form by the senior players is far more important than discovering a young gem. (BTW there probably isn't one). I'll be happy with thirteenth place and eight odd wins plus some close losses. As to the wins I want to see some high scoring thrashings.... not the five odd point fall over the line wins we have achieved so far.
