  1. In Old dees defence it does seem that this season has been going for months. Heard a great comment yesterday...."Well one good thing is that the year is now officially half over."
  2. what was the Bears average crowd? How have Brisbane fared post their premierships. What is the average crowd for the Titans? It's a sporting desert and always will be
  3. If they were on minimum money I'm ok with these. All clubs have their journeymen... if you think about it we have 6 or 7. Unfortunately we haven't uncovered a gem but few clubs do these days. I'm more concerned about the stagnation/deterioration of our better players. FWIW if we have to keep Goodwin I'd try and get a replacement for Mahoney particularly if we are say 3-5 at Round 8.
  4. And their biggest crowd will be 10k unless a big Melbourne team is playing during school holidays. Total waste of money and talent
  5. Looks like all the Melbourne clubs can go to NSW for 2 weeks play matches and then they can move on to Qld etc. If so places like Wagga might see a match with crowds. No need for them all to go to Sydney
  6. I used to read the injury reports and dream of what if. Now I watch the matches and wonder why bother
  7. I think the game style is doing that by itself... I watched one half of football last week when usually I would watch 2.5. That's the million dollar question ... The answer in NSW is yes but the other states... who knows. You would of course need to give the stadium a deep clean after we used it. There is the added question of what if a player came from one of hot spot postcodes.
  8. I see the AFL are talking of the Melbourne teams being based in an interstate hub for 4-5 weeks. Very optimistic, especially when you add in the two weeks quarantine needed to commence the process. 10-12 weeks with 7 being the optimists view. Like many my care factor for this season is fast diminishing
  9. Quite likely and what's the bet we stink up our one big TV appearance.... just seems to be our lot.
  10. Must say I chuckled when I read about his suspension.
  11. Strange times... does anyone know if the Swans "reserves" play GWS each week or do they fly around as well?
  12. The other States offer crowds now whereas they are two months at minimum in Melbourne. NT will pay money as would Tasmania for a few games in each Sate/Territory. Gil has won the lottery if you think about it.
  13. You could leave the Sydney teams where they are and locate one or two of the Melbourne teams there. The relative good news for MFC is that we would not be an obvious candidate for the WA hub.
  14. it's relatively easy now that you have three capital cities that allow crowds. The only variable is how many teams you locate in WA given the travel requirements. Start packing Goody
  15. I can see the comp being moved out of Melbourne for this season or at least for the next 6 odd weeks. Would mean another two weeks of byes to accommodate quarantine. The advantages of travel between non virus States plus crowds is very attractive.
  16. Weideman in for either Melksham or Vandenberg. Smith out for O Mac (Lever and Smith should not be played in the same backline) Perhaps Jetta for Lockhart Bennell ??
  17. we all know why we lost
  18. I think he may already have done it
  19. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-06-25/how-adelaide-crows-went-from-afl-top-to-bottom-in-three-years/12387620?section=sport Good analysis
  20. The only way we win is if we kick straight and they don't. 54-34 score
  21. Essendon's two wins have been by less than a goal
  22. Early days but a battle of the jail bars looking a possible GF
  23. Article from the Guardian written by Lumumba well argued and worth a read 'On Monday I was notified that Collingwood would be conducting an “internal investigation” into my claims, in order to discover the “truth”. Many are wondering why I will not participate in this process. It is an insult to suggest that I have done anything less than tell the “truth” for the last six years. I have expressed this truth directly to the AFL via board members of Collingwood and the Melbourne Football Club, administrators and players at both clubs, the AFL Players’ Association, AFL club-affiliated psychologists and psychiatrists, and the Australian public via a feature-length documentary and interviews with almost every major media outlet in the country. I have no desire to sit down with the same organisation who have worked to publicly discredit my truth, so that they can decide on its value." https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2020/jun/25/i-foundracism-runs-through-the-afl-it-has-failed-to-uphold-the-rights-and-safety-of-black-players
  24. If Gus doesn't perform this year that would be a sensible trade but I doubt Essendon would go for it. Sounds like he wants decent money and with no increase in the salary cap could be a hard fit.We have some high value re-signings in 2021 IIRC.
