  1. not so much this year but opposition coaches know we struggle with that tactic. The trick is to limit the rebound (which we are getting better at) and it will stop Geelong will undoubtedly crowd our forward line it but they will rebound slowly. Will be interesting tactically.
  2. What is Sparrow's role? Cannot say I noticed him at all. Not meant as a criticism. Jetta... it's an opponent issue. Geelong aren't particularly quick in the forward line so perhaps he survives by virtue of his smarts. TMac's form is still key to the next 3 weeks Thought Jones was solid last night
  3. Good win and very impressed by the contribution of some players who have had a question mark... Brayshaw, Hunt Fritsch Pickett was very good to say the least. He will probably get some close attention from Geelong next week. Would like to think that the coaching team has access to good footage of Oliver in the first half. He needs to get better at dealing with those situations or it will become a tactic against him. A win against Geelong may see me unscrewing the lid slightly. Interesting that because GWS kicked only 2 behinds we didn't get to use our kick out tactics which have much improved this year. Next Sunday's weather is 17 and fine. Perfect football weather. Go Dees
  4. 6.Pickett 5.Brayshaw 4.Langdon 3.Gawn 2.Hunt 1. Fritsch Apologies to Viney
  5. cometh the hour cometh Spartacus
  6. Oliver has not had one possession
  7. 6 inside 50' for 1 scoring shot v 4 inside 50's for 3 goals Nothing changes
  8. do a speed test... do you have 20mbs
  9. out of interest are you using the app or the website
  10. one of those no win games whhich we often lose Hopefully a regulation injury free 30 point win... wouldn't that be nice for a change
  11. mmmm Bombers doing what we should have done last week
  12. Interesting
  13. Just searched GA tickets for Tigers v Swans match out of curiosity. Only availability is top deck Ponsford stand and one section on the Southern stand wing where you could buy single tickets Will be interested to see final crowd numbers
  14. something strange went on with North late last year. Shaw's unfortunate departure seemed to unleash a rash of barely understandable delistings. Rebuilds just don't work anymore simply because the draft is so compromised and drafting itself is so imprecise. Logically the only way out is Tassie and a load of priority picks...not even sure that path is still open. Even as a merger for another team they offer very little
  15. 3-5 was the latest
  16. I'd forgotten that. I always remember them interviewing the ground manager who proudly told the world we would have to get used to going to the footy only if we pre-booked a ticket. He was right eventually but I think they sacked him after about 6 weeks Then there is the often empty Medallion club that seems to escape scrutiny and analysis... not to mention the fools that built an apartment block on the concourse
  17. Yep those Egyptians weren't bad at it either
  18. absolutely beautiful day in Melbourne and the Docklands roof is closed. We all know the reason but seriously who builds a stadium on a greenfields site without getting the sun alignment correct.
  19. Interesting... Singapore has a token system for covid registration for those people who do not wish to use a mobile phone app. I'm at a loss anyway as to why you can't print the ticket and use that for entry as in the past. (Could it be that the ticket coy needs to pay a royalty for that process.) Then you just use a paper reg system in place of the covid app if needed
  20. was hoping for a Pies victory as it might have made that fourth spot in the four just that little easier for a team such as ourselves. Not too late and hopefully GCS can take the two derbies away from them. Nice to see a Pies loss but I think most of their supporters know they are jst making up those 6-10 numbers.
  21. agree but in 2018 that is how we beat them. Crowd the ball carrier, cause a fumble and we took it away. It was the one of those times when an opposition team didn't get the handball out to the running player. GWS at their best were exquisite at getting the overlap going. In 2020 many teams were successful against them by forcing them to the boundary line and protecting the area say 15 metre in from the line. Who will we play on Toby G I wonder?
  22. Agree.... it's a good problem to have and if all 3 perfrom one of TMac or Weid will be traded at the end of the year which will further strengthen the team. What are the odds of both TMac annd the Weid performing.... not that great... but one can hope
  23. He's always lead to the pocket and I think that is a strength. Needs to increase his goal kicking accuarcy by around 15% to 1.5 goals average per game. The mistake we make is in thinking he can be a 70 goal forward
  24. VFL has never started before Round 2 and in most cases round 3. It has always had multiple byes. It's a cheap practice comp... integrity disappeared around ten years ago. Remind me which year it was when MFC effectively pulled its players out of the VFL finals series.
  25. cost recovery for a community football oval... let's call it for what it is.... wedge politics
