2021 Off season targets
Whitfield is contracted until 2027 but one salivates at a swap of Brayshaw for Whitfield way too many dollars though Baker does not look as though he will make it so the other wing is up for grabs.

NON MFC: Rd 09 2021
Does anyone know the crowd figure for Richmond v GWS. Docklands looked half empty on TV. I see that level 4 is mostly closed again for our game.

looking like today at Casey could rival the North Sea winds.

Thursday Night Footy to Return in Round 13
watching Eddie last night he was saying that the only thing holding Thursday night football back was the FTA channels commitment to existing programming. Suspect the same applies to Monday night football. Others on the panel said players didn't mind a 5 day break as long as it was limited to once or twice a season

CASEY: Rd 05 vs Geelong
Yep I bet those wetlands on the outer side attract the Tiger snakes in summer. Once saw a large group of racing land yachts near the carpark. Life's not dull at Casey

Harsh but true unfortunately Most of those 5 behinds weren't hard at that level

Thursday Night Footy to Return in Round 13
very few have been in the prime time slot though Macca Saturday night is a shared time slot with an interstate game thus preventing national coverage and Sunday 3:20 is just ok Thursday and Friday nights are where the big boys play

CHANGES: Rd 09 vs Carlton
must say I thought the same but it was an 8 day break the pins are falling ... we really need to win the next two games (they're the easy ones)

NON MFC: Rd 09 2021
Have now assumed we will be top 4 (well why not) Optimist says you want the interstate teams at 3 and 4. (Home ground advantage) Pessimist says you want to maximise the number of Vic teams in top 4 (avoids an interstate game) mmm I'll have to think on it but a Geelong loss would be nice either way

One morereason to dislike the Pies....... Rigging mark of the week.... “We imagine it’ll be pretty hard for Checkers to beat Shai Bolton... Give it your all, Magpie Army,” the Magpies tweeted on Monday. The move proved a success, with the Magpies’ forward prevailing with just over half the fan vote. “Shoutout to the Magpie Army, you’ve done it,” Collingwood tweeted. The surprise voting result caused a storm of discussion on social media. “With all due respect to Brody, this wasn’t mark of the week. I reckon he would even agree with that,” Richmond great Matthew Richardson tweeted. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2021/may/14/shai-bolton-overlooked-after-magpies-fans-hijack-afl-mark-of-the-year-vote

Clubs Walking a Few Metres in Our Shoes
but how many real members... maybe 5k of three game Tasmania members, a stack of kids and of course a big load of contra members through their Tassie sponsorhip. My guess is 40k full adult members and tbh after the last 30 plus years of success I can understand why they're not turning up to watch an ageing team go through its paces

Lets remove the Norm Smith Curse
there's mileage in this. First there's no copyright on the tune (big issue) The lyrics could easily be changed to "O Jimmy Boy the MCG is calling" etc. You could add other greats and eras. Perhaps even a verse in an Indigenous language It's relatively easy to sing While having an Irish connection the original lyrics were written by a London lawyer which fits the MFC suit and tie background.

MFCSS is changing
MFCSS is very much alive. Each year brings a reminder. Last year it was Cairns and this year until the ten minute mark of the last quarter it could have been North Melbourne. Even if we go through the season relatively undefeated one just cannot help but think we'll stuff up the finals. MFCSS = Lowering one's expectations and thus preventing disappointment

CASEY: Rd 05 vs Geelong
I see that like Casey, Geelong are undefeated at VFL level. Will be a good test https://www.scoreboard.com/au/afl/australia/vfl/standings/

CASEY: Rd 05 vs Geelong
agree take away the sub plus one emergency and Casey start to look vulnerable. PS Jones definitely out with a hamstring for one to two weeks

CASEY: Rd 05 vs Geelong
Looking wet and windy for Saturday Not exactly the most welcoming environment for visiting the windswept plains of Casey central.

2021 Injury List
it's only one factor but it's real for WA. The sun and surf are very real. As a hypothetical... end 2022 Eagles offer 5 years at $750k plus bonuses plus a job plus endorsement opportunitities. (All up a base of $1M) Hard to match Play in front of a capacity crowd every second week. Regular finals appearances etc etc Let's hope Eagles fall into a hole in the next eighteen months... after all Kennedy, Natanui and Darling are getting on. In the meantime let's enjoy a very good talent and you can rest assured we'll get one or two first round picks for him.

2021 Injury List
LJ is a salary cap manager's nightmare. He projects the three worries: Go home factor A club prepared to pay overs to get him (Eagles) Hitting very good form about one year in advance of anticipation Hopefully the desire to play in a successful team is a counterbalance. His contract will also come up for renewal at a time (next year) when there is little certainty in future salary cap levels. Frankly a one year extension to end 2023 could be considered a win PS IMO Weid has nothing to do with Jackson... two very different players. One of Weid or TMac will go at season's end simply for salary cap reasons.
