  1. Typically sponsorship agreements have all the triggers you speak about plus of course a base level. The triggers are limited only by your imagination and negotiating skills. Finals are an obvious kicker. Ash Barty would be interesting. Her agreements would almost certainly include kickers for being number 1 in the rankings. As rankings were suspended for 2020 and she didn't play was she paid? Years ago I saw a number 1 golfer's deal and the kickers went for many pages. I suspect that the Formula 1 deals would be volume like. PS the world of digital platforms has of course widened measurement of "success goals" greatly. On a related note I would like to know to see some discussion of clubs assuming full control of their own websites.
  2. And let's open level 4 to allow the crowds to spread out !!
  3. I was surprised by the 7 day lockdown extension. I thought it would be until Sunday night with an announcement on Saturday. If today and tomorrows figures are low we might see some easing. For the QB game I would take the bye and then play the game the following week. Jaded's suggestion of Saturday night sounds sensible
  4. I read that players were able to specify a minimum 2 season deal in place of the usual 6 months. Any idea of the length of contract for these two draftees.
  5. the clubs get paid a little for each finals match. Basically enough to make the additional match payments due to players and staff as I understand it. There was a move to icrease the GF prize money years ago but it came to nothing as it went against the equalisation policy. Where clubs make money is with merchandising. $100 to get a picture of yourself holding the Premiership cup etc etc. The additional revenue to a big club such as Richmond dwarfs that which say the Bulldogs received
  6. only if they guarantee the gate WA are equally if not more desperate
  7. Heard a snippet on radio about their (Collingwood) football jumpers etc needing to be bagged into PPE type bags before leaving the stadium. Talk about being treated as untouchables. Anyone for a pizza ?
  8. okay ... time for a bidding match between Perth and Adelaide. Throw in Sydney and Brisbane if you wish Let's be sensible we have a product to sell and no ground gives us an advantage/ disadvantage Optus gives you higher crowd numbers but I would be asking the States to underwrite a minimum gate figure
  9. now suggesting in the Age that the extension will be longer than a week My guess is the Monday night of QB
  10. "we are being guided by medical advice" Couldn't help but chuckle that Queensland Ana and her health advisor had not been vaccinated and then when they were publicly pressured they decided to get the flu vaccine first
  11. interesting comment and perhaps very correct In the latest CNBC deal for the A League they are suggesting half is in contra
  12. money deal from the Gabba/Qld govt perhaps Qld just paid $8M for the NRL State of Origin that was to be held in Melbourne
  13. another poster suggested that he work on coming in sideways to avaoid being oushed under the ball so often. Has some merit.
  14. Easy.. he's too far forward in the marking competition that doesn't allow him to protect the space or to get the crucial second grab How to fix it... no idea
  15. Playing Collingwood at the SCG might get us a few dollars. I'd assume we're doing the sums
  16. contracts are full of boiler plate clauses. One of them is force majeure. If it applied (very complex) it would help NT and not us. Otherwise the contract will simply say "we turn up and we get paid". I've seen some contracts that seek to include sovereign risk (the government interfering with the contract by third party laws) but they are rare. Wouldn't surprise me though if the F1 contract has one in it which means Vic Govt will pay if we don't let them in.
  17. So I assume no VFL effectively for four weeks assuming Casey doesn't play during the MFC bye
  18. correct I suggested that the 2021 blockbuster games should have been a shared gate game before the season started. While I didn't anticipate zero crowds everyone knew there would quite likely be compromised figures. How both our blockbuster home games came to be in the same year is a worry from a financial viewpoint. To also lose the NT game is just the proverbial cherry on top
  19. I think that's close to reality significant closures until after QB and then slow removal of restriction over a minimum of 4 weeks. So in simple terms a minimum of 6 weeks from now
  20. Hopefully not but TBH I would feel rather flat.
  21. don't forget.... consultation with stakeholders
  22. TBH I've moved on from the venue for this game to thinking about how we can solve the massive loss from the QB fixture. A bye and moving by one week is a good start but even then the crowds will be limited. We can't seem to take a trick when it comes to finances.
  23. He'd walk into any other side in the competition. 40 goal forwards don't grow on trees
  24. like it a lot
