  1. when we all look back at these border restrictions and wonder how we got to such a situation I wonder what will stand out as the silliest. Seems to me that that the SA response to visiting footballers is way up there as a single instance. Mind you the masks while driving which I think was WA was also close. I'm fast giving up on any form of reason or nuance being used in this area.
  2. watch the Geelong tactics against the Port kick out. Have not noticed this one before Geelong using two players on the mark to prevent the Port kicker from playing on. Excellent tactic against teams that like to kick deep such as ourselves
  3. Interesting... On that scenario Geelong would play its first final at Kardinia Park... Geelong v WC Could also result in no matches at all in Vic in the second round of the finals Bulldogs to lose only one match going forward (presumably against us) is an interesting prediction. You may also have underestimated Brisbane by a game or two. Fascinating though and thanks
  4. Depends how optimistic you are re the rest of the MFC season If you're into insurance mode you want the interstate teams to lose thus minimising the chance of a first final interstate. A counter thought to this theory is which team is more likely to overtake us. Very difficult as all three of Geelong, Brisbane and Port are on 32 points at present. Port..simply because the Geelong inclusions may not be match fit and Eagles for the fun of it.
  5. Just announced... masks outside for another week in Metro Melbourne the fun continues Going to be a long winter
  6. Anna P aka the Saviour of the AFL....amazing Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk received the Pfizer vaccine in Brisbane on Monday, after criticism she had been left behind by other state leaders who already had their jabs. Despite being in the recommended age group for the AstraZeneca vaccine - people aged 50 or older - Ms Palaszczuk received the Pfizer jab due to her coming overseas travel plans. https://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/national/queensland/queensland-premier-gets-pfizer-covid-vaccine-in-brisbane-20210607-p57yng.html
  7. The famous AFL seating algorithm also known as saving money
  8. Out of interest were they mixing in a bit of "canned crowd noise" on Friday night. The background murmuring etc just sounded fake at times. The scoring reactions sounded accurate.
  9. 6 is the highest. Have a go. It's fun. I do it after watching the replay and don't look at how others have voted until I've posted. I find most agree on the top 2 (if in a different order) but from there on in it can be interesting.

  11. yep... we are now being run by Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs aka the Premiers and Chief Minister of the NT (yes I know I didn't count the ACT but who does)
  12. I sit here planning alternative routes between Pakistan and Egypt. All of them seem to go via the various city States of the Middle East. This trip will be the most researched I've ever done if I ever do it. Like you vaccinated four weeks ago. My free travel tip is Moscow...inexpensive and drop dead tourist stuff with great easy to use public transport. People are great (Dubai- Moscow for a week- Western Europe.. London/Paris etc)
  13. Does it get better OD ... Today's case includes a teacher from the school where a child from the Jervis Bay travellers went to. Linked but a potentially wide vector from a spread viewpoint.
  14. By the time he is eligible to play it will be around 8 weeks without match practice. I tend towards one game in the VFL. If it had only been 2-3 weeks out a definite yes.
  15. Serious analysis required of the relative benefits to the MFC of a Bulldogs loss/win today against Freo. On balance (but only just) I tend towards the wingman theory where it is safer having the Dogs play interference against Brisbane in the top two stakes. For those who think we will remain ladder leaders having Brisbane second when commencing the finals series is not a bad outcome perhaps So enjoyable being on top of the ladder on merit but the permutations are such unchartered waters for me at least.
  16. western fizzer so far FI Qualifying in Azerbijan looking like the evening's entertainment
  17. Does not look like a great crowd at the Swans game Thought they would be getting more these days
  18. needs to switch it up to give then some hope Always thought thay would beat us if they kicked with reasonable accuracy. The challenge is to keep it as a "close loss"
  19. you know why AFL jam packed policy
  20. a related question... how many teams in the current top ten do we play in the remaining 11 rounds of the season. (undercurrent MFCSS here)
  21. sounds like the old sell the one section trick that has become an AFL artform this year
  22. Brisbane supporters are Northern skiers. Most only turn up when the team is winning. Given how badly the Broncos are performing this year and last I suspect the Lions are getting decent media coverage in Brisbane.
  23. if only... Bulldogs made it relatively easy for us last week by playing the switch and boundary line game in an effort to deny Lever and May the easy ball. Not sure Lions will make the same mistake. If they can run it quickly and go over Lever we are vulnerable. Player for player they have a more reliable forward line. My guess is that it will come down to goal accuracy.
  24. all comes down to the total revenue/stadium deal. Geelong reportedly make more from playing at Kardinia Park in front of 35k than playing at the MCG with a crowd of 55k. Peggy O'Neil (Richmond President) said on ABC radio that Essendon were very happy with the financial result of playing at Optus this weekend. Perhaps time for the MCG Trust to get into the bidding war.
  25. Ah yes... the old Ponsford variant Eddie wasn't dumb
