  1. Not one goal from any of our talls including Gawn and Jackson Amazing
  2. 1 goal since half time !!
  3. you can feel it slipping away
  4. Always thought we should play Weid down back in VFL occasionally just for a game like this
  5. could have had a better start to this quarter
  6. Just watching the May injury. Hopefully no damage done by Lever when he came down on the back of May's knee https://www.afl.com.au/video/769640/big-blow-as-may-subbed-off-after-this-injury?videoId=769640&modal=true&type=video&publishFrom=1653722297001
  7. Much better quarter but once again inaccurate kicking. Ideally we need goals and behinds at a ratio of 2:1 not 1:1 or worse Strong third quarter and ease through the fourth
  8. Wow we have shifted a gear
  9. Not much input from Trac so far
  10. Hope May is ok. T Mac down back not an option today
  11. Anybody awake there
  12. Lions coming back strongly but it would be nice.......... Amazingly accurate kicking from both sides......14.2 for the quarter
  13. Agree it's smoke and mirrors Going forward for example is it a rent free maintained clean stadium similar to Kardinia Park. What happens when the State Govt funding expires in ten years Who funds the travel costs of the visiting teams At least it has a bit more meat than the NT (me too) puff piece
  14. For those considering a trip, Frankston is a lovely ground with glimpses of the bay through tall pine trees. On a Sunday nearby parking is easy and they used to have a delightful sausage sizzle. Suggest you go over to the far side from the entrance as many of the locals who congregate on the entrance side were quite well lubricated and vocal when I was last there
  15. Decent game Makes the 8 interesting especially if the Pies beat Carlton
  16. Tigers ahead with accurate kicking... 5 goals straight It's a simple equation
  17. TMac had a very strong game last week.
  18. I strongly object to a 19th team if it means a rolling bye. Assuming 22 games each team will need two byes and if my mathematics is correct three teams will get their second bye in the last three weeks of the season. The ladder is integral to our game and a rolling bye will make a mockery of the concept. Twenty teams.... where is the money coming from? TV rights? Do the sums ....no pay TV model can work in Australia unless it is a loss leader. There are 8 million households. Assume market penetration of 25% gives you 2 million. Assume $50 a month subscription for 6 months and you get $600M. The present rights are around $500M a year. The market penetration level I have used would be impossible to achieve for a service providing one sport only. If you use a foxtel cable model and put sport on top of a basic entertainment service you need to charge at least $70 a month. At that price market penetration drops again. The other traditional revenue source was free to air advertising. This source has been savaged by digital advertising which can be delivered to targeted markets far more effectively than FTA TV ads. The pandemic showed us that the players aren't interested in pay cuts so where do the cuts come from.Community football has got less each year. Plus we have the increasing commitment to and cost of the AFLW. Growing the pie is a wonderful model but in reality at some stage the pie is all gristle and no meat. Perhaps the 20th team could come from New Zealand !!! 😎
  19. Would have been a good game for Salem to have one or two quarters Used to really like the VFL but it's going backwards
  20. Just curious why would he be playing this year for the Northern Knights and not for a VFL side.
  21. they used to joke about the NT Government saying that if you got one side of a street offside you could lose your seat. Interesting dilemna though in the sense that we are demanding that the State governments of Tasmania and NT fund new teams while the competition itself fully funds GCS and GWS
  22. A Sunday game at Frankston. A lovely ground but the local crowd can be lively to say the least. A great sausage sizzle as I recall
  23. NT should fund a summer comp with altered rules. Perhaps 14 a side and 15 minute quarters and triple headers. Build it off the local indigenous leagues and allow each team $X to have two or three "marquee" players. And most importantly get cheap and frequent flights to Darwin
