  1. another poster suggested that he work on coming in sideways to avaoid being oushed under the ball so often. Has some merit.
  2. Easy.. he's too far forward in the marking competition that doesn't allow him to protect the space or to get the crucial second grab How to fix it... no idea
  3. Playing Collingwood at the SCG might get us a few dollars. I'd assume we're doing the sums
  4. contracts are full of boiler plate clauses. One of them is force majeure. If it applied (very complex) it would help NT and not us. Otherwise the contract will simply say "we turn up and we get paid". I've seen some contracts that seek to include sovereign risk (the government interfering with the contract by third party laws) but they are rare. Wouldn't surprise me though if the F1 contract has one in it which means Vic Govt will pay if we don't let them in.
  5. So I assume no VFL effectively for four weeks assuming Casey doesn't play during the MFC bye
  6. correct I suggested that the 2021 blockbuster games should have been a shared gate game before the season started. While I didn't anticipate zero crowds everyone knew there would quite likely be compromised figures. How both our blockbuster home games came to be in the same year is a worry from a financial viewpoint. To also lose the NT game is just the proverbial cherry on top
  7. I think that's close to reality significant closures until after QB and then slow removal of restriction over a minimum of 4 weeks. So in simple terms a minimum of 6 weeks from now
  8. Hopefully not but TBH I would feel rather flat.
  9. don't forget.... consultation with stakeholders
  10. TBH I've moved on from the venue for this game to thinking about how we can solve the massive loss from the QB fixture. A bye and moving by one week is a good start but even then the crowds will be limited. We can't seem to take a trick when it comes to finances.
  11. He'd walk into any other side in the competition. 40 goal forwards don't grow on trees
  12. like it a lot
  13. Tired of having our season compromised by finances. We've been doing it for 20 odd years starting with the slae of our home game to Brisbane. Happy to throw in $10-20 to soften the blow. I've learnt to like the Alice game as an exception but NO MORE
  14. Thought Crows were in with a chance there. Will be nice to see Tiges and Bombers play next week over in the safe safe west.
  15. combine that with the sub optimum crowd on Anzac Eve and this season is looking grim money wise when in a normal world we would be raking it in.
  16. Gave 10 votes to the coaching staff in the Demonland poll. The coaching dynamic has clearly changed. In years to come we may know why but in the meantime keep on with whatever they are doing. TBH I was amazed that the Dogs with their supposedly brilliant and quick midfield played into our hands by going wide so often. They have obviously bought into the impassbale MFC backline wall story. On the other hand Adelaide never read the book.
  17. maybe... certainly no other State will let people from Melbourne in for at least two weeks. NSW.. who knows the present rule for NSW is that you can go in but you have to isolate for the period of the Melbourne lockdown. Lot of rules are now based on the premise that your "home rules" travel with you. Would you go to Sydney and be the only one in a mask? This was the rule for Perth people going to non metro Perth during their recent lockdown. If it was school holidays I think you would find Qld being a lot more accomodating. Another missed tourist period would not play well in the Sunshine State.
  18. and Carlton if they manage to knock over the Swans
  19. I have always found organisational politics fascinating. CW was for years the only one who specialised in this area re the AFL. As she winds back it will be interesting to see who assumes the mantle. Don't underestimate the desire of the AFL to completely control the message. And then there's her interactions with Eddie
  20. Agree but there's no reason why Brisbane couldn't relocate to Melbourne for a few weeks.
  21. I assume the problem is that he does not know when he will have the opportunity thus putting the midfield etc at a disadvantage.
  22. Looks like a complete knee jerk response. Play a couple of games interstate for TV revenue and a bye for the rest.
  23. On the theme of predictability I noticed two pleasing unpredictable moves from Gawn on Friday night. First was taking the ball out of the ruck and pivoting with a kick forward. The other was a hit of twenty odd metres along the boundary line.
  24. Wagga is the centre of the Riverina league (Carey's home town ) and has a very good Aussie rules oval. Have not seen the Albury oval but why not. No way will "normal" Victorians be allowed in NT next Friday. Cancelled my flights and accomodation on Thursday
  25. memories of our darkest days when we sold multiple home games to Brisbane. No thanks Even going to Sydney costs us over $500k in lost revenue from the NT. The virus couldn't have hit us at a worse time. I'd prefer Wagga oval tbh
