  1. His game around the ground not to mention his improvement as an impact forward has put him in the top ten players in the AFL. The season and the premiership was a team effort and Max was captain of a great team. Thanks Max
  2. Hawthorn like bravado already OD... how exciting Remember the saying in Roman Triumphs ... Glory is fleeting But hell... winners are grinners !!
  3. For those without access to Kayo etc the AFL have just put up the full game on the AFL site https://www.afl.com.au/news/684511/drought-breakers-watch-each-quarter-as-demons-destroy-dogs

  5. A tackling machine who is smart and contributes on the scoreboard. Played every game for the season and is definitely now well out of the proverbial bottom six.
  6. Was probably a key to our successful season. More than any other player he allowed Goodwin to build a successful gameplan which at its simplest denied opposing teams the easy rebounding forward entry that plagued us in 2017-2019. While he doesn't have a great kick (lots of up and under type disposals) his decisions under pressure result in so many rebounds. Thanks Jake
  7. Now up to Round 4 (Geelong at the MCG) in my replay watching. (Generally one quarter each day). The improvement skill wise from Round 1 is astonishing not to mention seeing Petracca's game grow in front of your eyes. Of course the goalkicking allowed our opponents to stay in many games. If we can improve that stat across the season by even 25% we could be seriously good.
  8. All three 2019 draftees contributed so much to our 2021 premiership year. From the first time I saw Jackson doing his follow up in the ruck move I knew we had something special. He has also moved from competing round the ground to being a focal point taking crucial marks and kicking key goals. The upside is enormous but the present is so rewarding. Thanks Luke
  9. Masks outside disappear (not compulsory) at 80% double vaxed (around 2 November). Up to 10 people (including dependants) are permitted at your home. Up to 150 fully vaccinated people can dine indoors, and up to 30 can gather in public outside. Indoor community sport open for minimum number required. Masks are only required inside. Pubs, restaurants and cafes can open for seated service only, up to 150 fully vaccinated people inside and 500 outdoors https://www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au/victorias-roadmap#phase-c-80-double-dose
  10. Given our French based posters this extremely large French study is very encouraging. Vaccination reduces the risk of dying or being hospitalised with Covid-19 by 90%, a French study of 22.6 million people over the age of 50 has found. The research published on Monday also found that vaccines appear to protect against the worst effects of the most prevalent virus strain, the Delta variant. “This means that those who are vaccinated are nine times less at risk of being hospitalised or dying from Covid-19 than those who have not been vaccinated,” the epidemiologist Mahmoud Zureik, who oversaw the research, told Agence France-Presse. The study – the largest of its kind so far – was carried out by Epi-Phare a scientific group set up by France’s health system, its national health insurance fund, l’Assurance Maladie (CNAM), and the country’s ANSM medicines agency. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/oct/11/french-study-vaccines-cut-covid-deaths
  11. And now there's a quasi challenge to Chairman Jeff https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/kennett-s-board-facing-challenge-from-former-super-boss-ex-hawk-20211011-p58z1w.html Jeff Kennett’s Hawthorn board is facing a potential challenge from the just-retired head of Australian Super, Ian Silk, and well-known former player and ex-board member Andy Gowers.
  12. Beware the Northern Winter If Europe and the US have a bad covid winter (think 40 year old vaccinated people dying in numbers) with a new variant 2022 may resemble 2021 Hope I am very wrong but this time last year we all thought 2021 would be sunshine and roses.
  13. Gate receipts pure and simple. Geelong makes roughly the same money at Kardinia Park with 30k as it does with 60k at the MCG Traditionally only Collingwood, Essendon, Richmond and in the past Hawthorn deliver that 60k plus number. Come 2022 I would not be surprised if we swap with Hawthorn in the Geelong roadtrip.
  14. Surprised that Baker was not snapped up by another team. He deserves a chance to show that he has what it takes. VFL is not often a game for wingmen. Perhaps because it's often more congested with genuine switching of play etc far less common. Shows how tight the listing situation this year for most clubs.
  15. Was trying to findout the answer to your question and came up with this great link on the MFC website. Makes for fantastic reading.... https://www.melbournefc.com.au/history/premiership-years
  16. Silly Me I thought the blank opening post was a brilliant summary of the 2021 VFL season.
  17. Four More Years !! Thanks Mr May
  18. Richmond is the interesting one. Was last year an aberration or the real thing
  19. You can bet they are considering how best to "monetise" the event. Don't blame them. What about say Feb with usual dinner $X00 a seat, some decent speakers/entertainment and a pay per view stream at say $10 a log on
  20. The two year extension to end 2024 will be done. Won't come cheap. Post 2024 who knows but the offers coming in especially from a post Natanui Eagles could be huge. 2024 will be the year our list managers really earn their money as we could be looking to replace Gawn, Ben Brown and May just to mention a few. In the meantime 2 or 3 more flags would be nice
  21. Interested to hear the lengths of those various extensions. The one that surprises me is Baker. I really thought he would get some solid interest from another club where he was closer to a senior run. Mirrors perhaps the tightness of the various salary caps etc and no one willing to punt on future rises in the cap. Best of luck to them all. If Casey ever gets onto the field we will certainly have a competitive team.
  22. DVD players are still de rigeur for the big screen surround sound home theatre crowd but as you say for the rest of us who just use an Apple TV box or in my case an Nvidia Shield they are an anachronism. On a more general note I see that none of the radio stations have the game coverage available on podcast. Needless to say it's an AFL restriction but it's not great.
  23. Agree Have started rewatching each game and while we had no "lucky" wins there are a few where we were ordinary. I suppose it's all about building but few games gave a hint of what was to be such a dominant finals series. And let's not forget that after the round 19 loss to the Dogs we could easily have finished 5th or worse. A wonderful season that I hope to see repeated before big crowds in 2022
  24. Would we pay say $100k of his contract to move him on. I suspect he is on mid $500's approx...maybe $450k but no less
  25. Do the various radio stations have podcasts of their GF coverage. Would make for nice listening while doing the masked walking thing. Thanks
