  1. so this game is going to finish over an hour before the main game. So much for curtain raisers
  2. Swans winning the ground battles this quarter
  3. Multiple wasted chances from Casey and then a goal to the Swans
  4. Having big problems establishing a decent stream
  5. Hadn't thought of that but makes sense
  6. Eagles cannot be as bad as they are performing. Almost makes one wish we had relegation to keep some honesty in the competition
  7. Assuming T Mac is out I would be rethinking the medi sub. Ideally a flexible back/forward. Any ideas? Not sure Majak fits the bill but perhaps
  8. It allows them to close large sections of the ground thus reducing staff numbers, cleaning costs etc. Unfortunately I see it continuing Perhaps they will have small general admission areas but they will be limited and of course you will need to pre-purchase on line
  9. Excellent article.... https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/beating-the-dees-what-can-other-teams-take-out-of-dockers-playbook-20220602-p5aqka.html You play keepings off, it plays into their hands,” Burke said. “We saw St Kilda do it in the first half, which, speaking with Brett Ratten afterwards, wasn’t their game plan. “If you can be really good at the contest and take the ball forward they can be exploited,” Burke said. “When you’re unsure that’s when the Melbourne way can damage you. You have to be brave, bold and take them on.”
  10. Geelong is funded by the Vic Govt in the form of a free stadium. It has a local population base bigger than Hobart and has an existing supporter base near equal to the whole of Tasmania's population. The better comparisons are Saints, North and even ourselves. Hopefully the clubs demand to see a full business case that encompasses various alternatives including folding one of GWS or GCS and replacing it with a team from Tasmania. Placing KPI's on the continuation of the licence is a ploy. What Commission would throw them out after ten years when the odds are that four or five of the core clubs aren't meeting the same KPI's
  11. Must agree OD it surprised me. These days however with closed training sessions we see little of what is happening. There is also the problem that the VFL standard is so low it does little to hone the skills. Trust the Force Luke !!
  12. This is a relatively easy selection week. Next week with Salem to return is the harder one. Salem will play in the VFL this weekend. Hibberd didn't play a full game against Frankston so he has another VFL round this week. Outs: May, Melksham Weideman Bedford Ins Tomlinson, Harmes McDonald Langdon Medi sub... probably Bedford Caveat: I'm not sure Petty is 100%
  13. Seems like the FTA people have woken up to the missing elephant in the anti-siphoning rules namely that streaming is excluded. Seven West Media boss James Warburton has urged the Albanese government to swiftly close a loophole in federal ‘anti-siphoning’ laws to prevent subscription-based streaming services from capturing rights to popular sporting competitions such as the AFL. The comments, made just hours after new Communications Minister Michelle Rowland was sworn into the ministry, come as longtime AFL broadcaster Seven jostles with US streaming giants Amazon and Paramount in the league’s next rights deal https://www.theage.com.au/business/companies/seven-boss-wants-streaming-loophole-closed-as-us-giants-vie-for-afl-rights-20220601-p5aq6w.html
  14. Need a chest marking leading forward like a Gunston. Our forwards are all overhead markers. Balance is nqr Hunt showed that trait in 2019?
  15. The Tribe have Spoken
  16. TBH Playing the curtain raiser is not that great. It's not like the old days The medi sub and maybe two other players don't get a match. Also the time between the VFL finishing and the main match starting is such that few fans will actually see the last quarter
  17. Hardly crossed the centre for Casey. Frankston finally goal and it's 13 points the difference
  18. Hibberd on late in the quarter
  19. Old Dee's favourite Corey Ellison takes a strong mark and goals
  20. good discussion point We had two "easy games"
  21. JVR not playing for Casey so there goes that dream. IMO it will be the expected changes given injuries
  22. To use the Eurovision system Oliver... Quatre points The Rest... Nul Points
  23. Did they include kick outs
  24. Somewhat unsurprised by the loss given recent form but the last quarter performance was worrying
  25. Haven't fired a shot Probably a better outcome than an honourable loss Big test next week
