Was it great for the first ten rounds though. It gave in the main wins by 16 points. The only team that adopted the run against us was Port who couldn't hit the barn door that day. Collingwood has now outplayed us in three straight games for example. Geelong is now smashing us.The list goes on. Anyway we seem to be stuck with what I term the Python Play (squeezing your opponent to death) so we will see how next year goes

The move smacks of desperation frankly. I suppose they thought at end of 2021 season Jackson would cover the Gawn issues with a break glass type ruck at Casey (Majak etc). Jackson clearly leaving from mid season spooked them. The gameplan is slow and cumbersome to say the least. The chance was there against North and West Coast to begin the management process and the coaching staff ignored it. From there it went downhill. It's a balance and that's what they are hired for.. I think Weideman's bad form spooked them and with McDonald injured it started to fall away. The AFL report says the deal he is on is "heavily backended" so I suspect the remaining 2 years must be over 750k to justify pick 7. Good deal for North, WCE etc who are looking to rebuild via buying Pick 7. For the MFC.. would you let Hunt go (saves $450 approx) pay $300k for two years for Bowes and enter the draft at pick 7 for an outside mid....Perhaps

It's no different to NT paying for two matches to be played at grounds that hold only 10k or Victoria paying the Bulldogs to play at Ballarat except that a State forks out for 9 games on a weekend. WA would jump at a game for Bunbury or Port Headland is my guess Does Kalgoorlie have an oval? Then there are the suburban grounds. Each State has its Events Dept and it's very big money The loser would be the MCG as Victoria would be unlikely to bid big as it already often has five games on a weekend

Have watched Toby closely in the last 5 or 6 VFL games. In a few games I commented as to how he had a nearly great game in the sense that with one faster step, one jag to the left or one less slip his disposal would be perfect. Another time a team mate handballed to him while he was on a brilliant breaking run but the handball didn't quite connect. Just not sure

Late 2nd and Pies to pay $400k per year for 5 years assuming he is on $1M per year I'd start at $450k and that's still generous The simple reality is that Grundy is massively overpaid at $1M x 5. If that contract were negotiated today he would get 4 x 700k at best

All the more reason to drive a very hard bargain over Grundy
