  1. no problem with moving to digital but how could it be thought it was a good idea to introduce at the same time as you are trying to overcome covid hesitancy. Interesting to see level 4 of the AFL members closed for our Bulldogs game. Another smart move !
  2. Another reason for the Hawks and North to resist the entry of a Tasmanian team is the priority picks that team will receive. Does GCS still have a few priority picks to go as well
  3. In SA the definition is 15 minutes which makes life interesting.
  4. Would have preferred an Adelaide win
  5. The 1000 goal game was a myth this week as we all know but they couldn't stop promoting it. With 4 goals still to go I doubt Buddy will crack it next week either against Geelong (Friday night prime time of course). Perhaps against the Bulldogs at Docklands the following week
  6. Not a great crowd... looks mid 40's perhaps 50k
  7. Most rounds have around 4 meaningful games. It's part of the natural ebb and flow of a season. Let interest grow naturally without attempting the artificial TV hype. It has already cost the MFC about $200k in no away attendees at the GF replay
  8. It might only be round 1 but because of the contrived AFL scheduling they are almost all 8 point games against close rivals. Glad we got our win on Wednesday. Bulldogs are definitely top 8 if not top 4 so that's one big notch. From an MFC perspective it's hard to hypothesize on what could be the better result from today's two interstate games. I'm hoping for a draw between Cats and Essendon. Being a cats home game I had assumed it was at Kardinia park but of course a power house team like Essendon doesn't travel there
  9. All day football today 2pm, 5pm and 8pm TBH my max is 3 games a weekend and even then some are with the fast forward button. Has the AFL over exposed the product with its "big splash" approach. Add to that every game is a 50/50 and I'm feeling slightly manipulated
  10. They have a strange game plan that involves 18 players deep defence (note the two parallell line of players) and then running forward together as a wave with handpasses. Keeping it up will be difficult
  11. On 2 March both Petty and Rivers were listed at 3-4 weeks. The GCS game is 3 weeks 3 days after 2 March I suspect they won't be available but who knows. The sub is interesting at multiple levels. Do you take in a versatile tall (not sure we have one) or a mid such as Dunstan or stick with Bedford Casey play Sandringham at 1pm the day after the GCS game. Interesting logistics there for emergency players given the GCS game at 8pm. First flight out of Gold Coast looks to be 8:30am landing Melbourne 11:40am. Then the drive to Casey of at least an hour. Yet another masterpiece of VFLtiming in evidence (why not a 3pm start)
  12. Very impressed by our performance last night. Not only with four members of the backline absent but also at the demonstrated skill level. For anyone who wants to see a "rusty" team have a look at our Round 1 performance against Freo last year. Now if only we could kick a little straighter
  13. In a round concocted by the AFL to give every team a reasonable chance of winning it's interesting that Carlton v Richmond is the only "pure" match and even that could be described as close. Anyone who picks 9 this weekend certainly has my respect: Richmond Collingwood Geelong Swans Lions Hawks Adelaide Eagles
  14. 6.Petracca 5. Brown 4. Langdon 3. Viney 2. Oliver 1. ANB Note: Had real difficulty from 4 down. Spargo is also vote worthy PS: Having now read the votes given by others it seems that we all had problems after Petracca. I gave Brown 5 because he kept us in touch when needed
  15. amazing dominance given our backline problems Kick straight and we win this by 40/60 On the other hand to see the guys respond is magical
  16. Being beaten on every stat now.. need to get one or two more before half time and then see what the second half brings Is Salem back on the ground
  17. reminiscent of Q1 in the GF almost identical scores and scoring pattern Would have liked another 2 goals instead of the 5 behinds
  18. some decorum please....😂
  19. On TV it was excellent At the ground I could imagine that the event was dwarfed by the size of the ground. Pity it wasn't dark and they could have used spotlights to focus the action
  20. You'd have to be very unlucky as it's only been around since early December and it's generally accepted that you get minimum immunity of 8 weeks. There is some anecdotal evidence that people can catch Omicron twice, and possibly become infected with the new BA.2 Omicron subvariant shortly after catching the original BA.1 strain. But scientists caution that such reinfections appear rare, especially over a short period of time, and may be overestimated as a result of confusion over testing.
  21. None of the vaccines provide great immunity after 60 days but the third dose (especially for those over 55) pretty well guarantees (99%+) that you won't get seriously ill. TBH Omicron for even double dosed under 50 is rather benign
  22. Collingwood have one (Hoskin Elliot) and Hawks have two (un named) players missing due to covid 3AW news Have to remember that the close contact rules for households still apply. If these rules go the numbers absent each week will drop dramatically
  23. that's the interesting addition for me.
  24. Oh well ..... that removes the Hunt or Smith debate for this week at least
