  1. Realistically .......none Sparrow has the best chance perhaps
  2. A barometer player Not sure however if we are heading for storms in 2023 though
  3. After the Bradtke experiment it's hard to get excited. The funny thing is I thought Bradtke was starting to show green shoots when delisted
  4. Not sure how you arrive at that view. Practice games play an essential part in the pre season build up. They give exposure to fringe players by using extended benches and allow older players to ease into the season. Playing for points removes all of these benefits
  5. SA Premier needs to up his bid. Crowd attendances are irrelevant to the AFL as the whole thing is paid for by the "winning State" I suppose the fact that it's an extra round softens the usual screaming by clubs about losing a home game. Going by the Shanghai fiasco competing clubs were asking for $1M plus expenses to be Port Adelaide's dance partner/bunny. TBH I hate this idea but as usual... anything for the money
  6. Much cheaper than USA OD but more expensive than what I'm used to in Asia... Beer is cheap though One funny thing is that they think I'm American and expect massive tips. A few grumbles when I don't tip (locals only leave a little loose change) Heading up to the US in just over a week. California has sales tax, (8%) employee health levies (5%) and tips(20% minimum) added to the already exorbitant listed prices. AU$ decline does not help either
  7. Thought he might have gone to another club over the last few years but surprisingly no interest. VFL form was always steady but just lacked that final piece of luck. Debuted before Petty IIRC
  8. did you know OD that in the north of Vietnam (Hanoi) Ban Mhi is served warm by putting the roll in a steamer whereas down south it's cold like we see in Melbourne Presently in Mexico. Hard to really crack the street food scene here without Spanish but I'm trying. I've been to some out of the way countries and never had a problem by using observation and hand signs. Everything here involves multiple choice to make up a combo which complicates life. I'll keep at it!!
  9. We revived the massive Jesse Hogan thread a couple of months back. This one might have another lease of life in the future. Even Voldemort got a brief re-opening PS.. well well....300 pages !!!
  10. That's not a great deal. It's the one every club rejected when it was floated over a month ago
  11. Little doubt that MacDonald going down and Weid not stepping up spooked the coaching panel. Surprised we did so little this trade period to rectify the problem. I assume Gunston was too expensive or the contract too long
  12. No other club saw value in the deal... even to the extent they got into discussions/negotiations Anyway let's hope it works
  13. How many $$$$ is the question ????
  14. Says a little about Freo if they don't let Meek go. It seems an unwritten rule that if a player cannot get a regular game at a club and is offered an opportunity at another everything reasonable is done to facilitate the move. Witness what we are doing with Weid. There's no upside for us in letting him go a year early but it's happening
  15. Almost non existent is my guess About ten years ago when we were playing twice a year up there I was at the MCG. Near me was a group of boys from NT who had come down to play in an under 16 carnival. I asked them if MFC had much of a following in NT. They looked at me as if I was an alien. No one in the group plus their friends followed Melbourne
  16. well I think you've answered the question All the Grundy related deals will be embargoed so they can have their TV event
  17. Funny because there is a news feed called Mint(Live Mint from India) ... very busy during the time of the pandemic and vaccine production
  18. The only minor positive I can draw from this debacle is that the MFC was spared the difficulty of matching the mega salary offer made by Freo. Will it prove a wise decision by Freo .. who knows. History tells us that mega offers made to younger players fail as often as they succeed
  19. O Doggies......how did you not goal Loved the big smile on the Bulldogs player when she pulled down the packmark A decent crowd by the look of things
  20. Motoring along now Some impressive corridor play
  21. Good to see that the 26 point zone of indecision has not affected the women's team. Percentage is all important in this competition... need to score a few more and not let them goal
  22. You must like a good walk
  23. What is the rationale for Geelong trading around pick 60 to GCS? Is it part of the required trade process for them to give something in exchange. Thanks
  24. Ellison is interesting Has now been in the VFL system for four years. Badly impacted by the covid closures of 2020 and 2021. Certainly a very consistent performer at VFL level in 2022. Overlooked in the mid season draft
  25. Has an amazing ability at VFL level to find space in the forward line to take a relatively easy mark (think Gunston). Unfortunately he couldn't bring that skill to AFL level
