  1. Pleased that JVR is our best first year play. But how does he get there if he hasn't played a senior game?

  6. Correct. Robinson is just making it worse and causing Petty's family more distress. He should just leave it alone as Harrison requested. He is no better than Zorko using Petty's family as click bait. Low blow even for Robinson.
  7. Correct Jimmy. We could play the loser of Geelong/Collingwood if they win their Second semi vs the winner of Freo/Bulldogs.
  8. Thanks for the reminder. I figured to play on the Thursday Sydney will have an 11 day break and they will probably kick up a fuss having finished top 4. Wouldn't be surprised to see one of the EF on the Thursday night.
  9. Whenever we play we will have an extra two days rest on Sydney. Given that Sydney played today, I doubt our QF will be on the Thursday night. It could even be Saturday afternoon to give Syd the chance to get back to Sydney that night in case they play the following week. Finishing top 4 gives them that right. But more likely the two QF will be Fri and Sat nights. That was an ordinary performance by Sydney. Whenever it is we should win!!
  10. EF: Freo vs Bulldogs @ Optus EF: Lions vs Tigers @ Gabba QF: Geelong vs Pies @ MCG QF Dees vs Swans @ MCG The road to back-to-back for us is: Win the QF and go straight to a PF where we will play one of: Geelong, Collingwood, Freo, Bulldogs at the G. Lose the QF and we play the winner of Lions/Tigers EF at the G. Win that we then face one of Geelong or Collingwood in a PF at the G. We can avoid whoever wins the Geelong vs Coll QF until the GF if we beat the Swans next week. And it looks like we don't leave the G. See you at the G folks. ps hope I have the sequence right. 😐
  11. Please God, no. We play Collingwood in the QF... After that performance I desperately want to play Sydney in the QF.
  12. On a positive note both Richmond and Bulldogs have interstate finals. Probably: Lions vs Tigers at the Gabba. Freo vs Bulldogs at Optus
  13. The club has created the Hub on its website: https://www.melbournefc.com.au/finals Not all tabs have details yet but worth keeping an eye out. It will have info on tickets, merchandising etc etc. I really like this one: "Attend open training" so in due course there should be training times/locations.
  14. I have a different view as to why we were outscored in the second half than those presented in the last few pages. I reckon we were practicing some new tactics to take into the finals. I would need to watch the game again to see what they might be. Trying new tactics when well in front was openly discussed by the club when we were heading towards 10-0. I mentioned in another thread how we on Friday night we had a different approach in our ball movement fwd of centre and i50 hence our improved accuracy. Very similar to how we played the GF.
  15. Both teams rolling the dice with players not fully fit. Collingwood: De Goey, Ginnivan Carlton: Williams It should be a 'fight to the death' type game. Just as well there is a two week break until the first final. I'm tipping Carlton.
  16. Other improvements were we went to the pocket less and when we did the player often looked for an option closer to goal instead of taking the shot. The result was many of our scores came from shots closer to and at good angles to goal. Hence our vastly improved accuracy. Friday night's positions for shots at goal were very similar to how we played the GF, especially the second half. I reckon it was a rehearsal for how our ball movement happens in our fwd half and i50 in the finals. Teams preparing for us to play down the line and into the pocket will not be ready.
  17. No I don't. But the only way Arnsworth could have been charged is if the MRO obtained it from ch7. And it must have been more than a tummy tap for it to be graded: intentional, medium impact, to the body and therefore get a one week suspension. That it was behind play wouldn't help his cause. Very poor that ch7 didn't show it at any stage or even refer to it.
  18. And what is it with Scott's obsession with late changes when the change is to manage a player, this time Menengola. If they were going to manage him surely they would have known on Thursday night as Scott has often said they plan their player management a long time in advance. Maybe they are just trying to hide an injury... Either way it isn't in the spirit of integrity of team selection.
  19. One has to wonder about Geelong's obsession with resting players especially this late in the season when they have a fortnight off. The polar opposite of our approach to build physical resilience and keep players on the ground. I wouldn't be surprised if they will be underdone in the finals with all the resting and the easy run they have had for the last few months. More so if they win their first final and go through to a PF with barely a physical or scoreboard challenge for three months.
  20. Good to see that ch7 found the vision of Arnsworth's strike on Neal-Bullen. Awful behind play strike. Just so frustrating that ch7 didn't play the vision for the world to see what was going on.
  21. They often start the finals on the Thursday. If so there probably won't be a Sunday afternoon game so your Father's Day should be ok. But that could depend on who plays and where the Home games are. The fixture will probably be out within 24 hours of the last game tomorrow.
  22. Sydney have won a lot of games this year by 8 - 10 goals: +61 v Eagles (Optus) +58 v Ess (SCG) +51 v Saints (SCG) +53 v WBD (SCG) +73 v GWS (SCG) So they will back themselves in to get the score needed for 2nd spot and a Home final. However, this game is at Marvel Stadium where their results this year were: -11 v WBD -15 v Carlton St Kilda's Marvel Stadium record this year is: +33 v Richmond +26 v GCS +10 Cats +53 v North -35 v Ess +15 v Carlton -41 v Freo -28 v WBD +12 v Hawks While their second half form isn't as good as the first there have bee no blow out losses; the biggest being nearly 7 goals. Conclusion: Sydney will not blow Saints out of the park by 8-10 goals.
  23. The Geelong vs Eagles will be the biggest snore fest of all time. Firstly, because it will be a training run for Geelong. Secondly, it is Dangerfield's 300th game and the endless commentary and fawning will be 🤮
  24. I was so willing Hunt's after the siren torp to go through. Fond memories of the after the siren torp for a goal in the NT a few years ago. He also had an excellent game.
  25. Excellent game by Rivers. A distinct difference to his past games was that he had so much time and space. He has really worked on his 'composure' with the ball (lessons from Salem perhaps) and is so much more effective. He went to Casey to improve his kicking. He has and so much more.
