  1. He is just trying to save face as he started the rumour, propably for his own selfish reasons. As they say 'attack is the best form of defence'. I just don't like how he discredits good people.
  2. True, a list spot is needed which we have. But a draft pick needs to be 'used' albeit as high as 6th or 7th round. That upgrade 'draft selection' counts as one of the 3 minimum players each club needs to draft.
  3. Chandler will be upgraded with our last pick probably #86.
  4. The pick for Bedford is part of the #27 swap. As it will become a pick int he 40's its final value is a lot more than the points it currently has. Just saying we paid a hefty premium for # 27.
  5. I was comparing on a straight points basis of the swap. I'm sure the club has a plan for #27 but I'm surprised to give away such a big premium in a pick swap.
  6. Not necessarily. With 3 F/S and 1 Academy player in the top 20 a lot of mid range bids will be chewed up by matching bids. So a pick in the low 50's will come in to something in the low 40's. Not to be sneezed at.
  7. That is a lop sided trade. We give up picks worth about 1,200 points for one worth about 700 points. I would have thought whoever is getting pick 27 would do better with the picks we swaped Odd.
  8. TPP? They used AFL assistance picks. Not ok?
  9. Not when you consider his contract is for about $350K F2nd and F3rd is all NM have.
  10. Wouldn't NM future second go for Grundy?
  11. I'll update gradually for list and draft pick changes. atm I'm not quite ready to take Hunt off the list. 😢
  12. That needs to be adjusted for the games played. The average votes per game has Petty 7th and Harmes 8th. So yes, Harmes (and Petty) is in good company just behind our 6, out and out champion AA players.
  13. I wonder if the change from giving a 'blessing to look around' then 'shutting it down' was because a target we had hasn't eventuated. Of course we will never know but it was a quick change of heart.
  14. I would be very surprised if the club isn't working with Kozzie and those close to him to understand what he doesn't like about Melbourne, the city. Clubs will go to great lengths to make players happy in all aspects of their life. So unless Kozzie is miserable his unease in Melbourne, the city I reckon it will all get sorted. Even North said they asked JHF's family to move to Melbourne to help him out. The club loves to have a major contract signing announced at the start of the season. Kozzie is a fan super favourite so an announcement in March perhaps... 🙂
  15. Gus spent all of 2021 and about 70% of 2022 as a defender. His scoreboard impact means zip if he hasn't played forward of centre for nearly two years.
  16. We were keen in his draft year. When GCS let him go it was effectively a salary dump for a big contract. Traded for a 4th round future pick. Doubt we could have absorbed his salary. Had TMc or ANB trades eventuated we may night have been able to. Water under the bridge now.
  17. How embarrassing for Cornes. Calling a senior official of a club a liar is very insulting to Lamb and mfc.
  18. Is that confusing the pick (#52) we get for Hunt? Harmes will bring a much better pick. If it is to be Essendon their #41 or better. I would think a pick late in mid second round would be fair.
  19. No need to worry about pick #52. Its fate: We keep it an it becomes a bid in the low-mid 40's after all the second round picks are chewed up with F/S: Ashcroft, Fletcher, Davey and NGA: Mackenzie all top 16 draft estimate. We keep it and use it in a player trade to get a better pick back Use it in a pick swap. It will become more valuable than it looks at face value.
  20. Good Lord! Too much violence and I hate the sight of blood. A genteel brunette from Bayside scrapping it with a 'westie' ranga!! Can't see it.
  21. The Jayden love on here is something to behold. I hope that somehow he comes to know about it. Lots of people have 'outed' themselves as a Jayden fan and I love it! I know in my head that he is gone but I can't bring myself to take him off the list in the 'Contracts' thread 😢 Go well, Jayden.
  22. If JHF gets to Port their pick #8 and future first is gone and with them go the idea that Freo can trade for that pick #8 to use in the Jackson package. They of course can try and trade with other clubs to get that top 10 pick. Otherwise they will have little choice than to include a very good, proven, elite player in lieu of a top 10 pick. They have a few of them - just need to convince one of the Vic lads to come home! And then include this year's pick #14 +/- swaps/sweetener depending on the player. Alternatively, let Jackson go to their arch enemy. Freo: Rock vs Hard Place!
  23. From Fox footy: "Luke Jackson looms as the messiest trade of the off-season, with both West Coast and Fremantle still in play for the young ruck’s services. The Dockers are the overwhelming favourites to snare Jackson, but they can’t come close to meeting Melbourne’s demand of two first round picks as a deal. Freo’s first draft pick is at 13 and then there’s currently nothing until 72. Griffin Logue’s trade to North Melbourne will help the Dockers bolster their draft hand if they do cough up pick 13 and a 2023 first round pick for Jackson. West Coast meantime are open to splitting their pick two – which would become a three should Will Ashcroft go early as predicted. But list boss Rohan O’Brien has confirmed the Eagles won’t be offering that as a trade for Jackson. “There’s an air of confidence that we think we can convince him and hopefully get the deal done,” O’Brien said on SEN. “Opportunities like Luke don’t come along very often.” I like that Eagles are keeping the heat on Freo.
  24. On media reports we rated him very highly and the three year contract has been on the table for a long time. It looks more like we can't give him confidence of getting games whereas other clubs can. I think it has a bit to do with our game plan. Bedford's string of senior games was when we experimented with an extra small fwd and one less medium/tall. That experimented lasted about a month or so then he lost his spot.
