  1. Yes but his main job is to kick goals which he hasn't (please don't give me the 'ball doesn't get down there enough' routine)
  2. WOW! He can mark and tackle and kick goals and run both ways and play on and doesn't move the ball backwards!! No wonder Roos likes him!
  3. Looks like HL is going to focus on just football. From the HS: Melbourne coach Paul Roos yesterday told the Herald Sun that Lumumba wanted to finish his career in a blaze of glory, not as a polarising publicity machine. At the Demons he won’t do media interviews, has already shut down his twitter site and will this week also close his facebook page. Looks very promising. Roos works his player management magic again
  4. I wonder who Adelaide wanted at pick 8? I wonder whether they would want to trade up to pick 3 given the new lie-of-the-land post the Boyd deal and the subsequent draft pick changes by GWS StK. Adel give us pick 8 and a B++ potential A player in return for 3. I hope our team were not so focused on landing the proven star that we lost sight of other options.
  5. The wild card was Griffen! As soon as he jumped ship GWS lost all interest in a deal with us and focused on the WB then StK for #1. As I said yesterday Griffen dealt us out of that card game and those clubs would do the deals that needed to be done. The music stopped and no place for us!!
  6. You know, I'm ok with that. If in 12 mnths Jack can play give him a contract 1/2/3 yrs whatever. If he can't play I'm sure Jack will want to get on with his life (perhaps outside football) and he won't want a contract. If we choose our rookies wisely, if need be Jack can go onto the LTI list in 2015 and a rookie be promoted. I feel, nothing is lost by emotionally supporting him in 2015. Then que sera sera
  7. So we should send our very own 'Demoneyes' to talk turkey with Clark then!
  8. Mahoney must reassure Jack about his future with the Dees because: The Kid deserves it! He: stood by the club in dark times, accepted co-cap, played injured, endured ordinary coaches, accepted demotion from co-cap with good grace, accepted loss of leadership role when injured with good grace and now reluctantly accepted that he would be traded. He is 22 FGS! If he was your son how much do you want him to endure!!! It will be tough enough in rehab. Let him recover physically with contract anxiety added to his woes. Jack will know by the end of next year if he can play footy again. That is the time to talk about his future post 2015 not now. He must stay on our list this year. We owe him.
  9. With Frawley and Mitch gone, Trengove's front-ended contract tapering off and having to pay min % of sal cap we might as well use it to payout players! Uggg! I can't believe I wrote that! What a terrible position for us to have to do that.
  10. Anyone for a last minute deal that looks like this: Our pick 3 and 23 to Adelaide/Gold Coast for their pick 8/9 + A grade player? We still get the DL faves of Brayshaw and Lever but a ready-to-go-now player (instead of drafting for #23) Glad I'm out for the day rather than refreshing DL every five min.!
  11. Had a closer look at possible use for pick 23. Swans and Hawk first live pick is 58 and 43/59 respectively. Earlier picks gone on F/S and O'Rourke. Swans have sal cap to manage and Hawks want to get back earlier picks (they have put some players up for trade to do this but it appears none that interest us). Would imagine our recruiters have been working the phones since Trengove deal fell thru so maybe Swans or Hawks are the best chance of getting a good trade for a B++ on-baller. Or! Port may be looking for a low 2nd round pick to get Ryder deal over the line and that may release one of their on-ballers. A B++ player from any of those 3 teams would be a good get I would think.
  12. Our most likely scenario is we take pick 2 and 3 to the draft and trade pick 23 for the best 23-26 yo, experienced on-baller we can get. That will give us a better balance in terms of age and experience. 23 is not a bad pick given the no of F/S before it so good chance of an excellent 'slider' to be picked up.
  13. We have gone from 'all players are tradeable' 4 weeks ago to zero players being traded out 1.5 days from trade cut-off. No talk of any happening either (excl Clarke). Even if we land a big fish no-one at MFC could be happy with the trade outcome and the list that results,
  14. If that is the case it will be hard to get to a deal: - Sydney can't take a player - Our other live pick is 23, our 2nd round. (3rd round is for stretch) - its getting late in the day to try and trade in another high pick eg from Gold Coast/Adelaide I so desperately hope we don't give in if for no other reason that our recruiters will be seen as soft and that if we get desperate enough we will give in to unreasonable demands.
  15. Syd pick 39? So we couldn't even get Sydney's 1st rounder back!! WOW we look desperate! And if the other player doesn't come from Sydney what sort of player are we going to get for # 39.
  16. We probably have to give extra picks because the AFL won't let Syd take players...if we pay overs we can blame the AFL !! He who giveth, taketh away. We get pp 3 and may end up having to 'give' it away.
  17. Yes, they have offered pick 21 for Stanley!! No way will they give us their 1st round especially if Stanley is on their radar. Perhaps Geelong has word that Varcoe is hesitating so can't be bothered trying to make the Mitch deal work and Stanley is a better risk/reward bet. Be prepared to be 'stuck' with Mitch. Maybe we should have played harder, earlier but we now seem to have got ourselves piggy backing on other trades and losing control of the Mitch/HL/Frost trades. Motto: never, ever trade with Collingwood...if they had accepted Geelongs 2nd round 30+++ pick (for HL) in the first place the deal would have been done on day !
  18. Hey Riddle, I really hope there is something behind this because I am rapidly losing faith of getting anything/anyone from this trade period. Even Frost is starting to look a bit doubtful. HL isn't over the line either. If you are just amusing yourself, it is time to stop! Otherwise, it will be another hope-killer thread and I will be overcome by the MFCSS all over again. I suspect many other DL's also will. No more games please folks. Hope MFC still has a few cards up its sleeve...please....
  19. Agree it doesn't have to be 3 way deal. However, Cats offered pick 21 for Stanley so that is gone. Their next pick is 30+++. If Varcoe refuses to go to Pies it gets complicated. Do we: - accept Geelongs pick 30+++, - give pies our pick 23 for HL and delist MItch (for zip) - trade Mitch to Coll for HL - dont take HL and delist Micht (for zip) This actually puts us right back at where we were 2 weeks ago. As I said no good options for us if Varcoe doesn't go to Pies so as per earlier post I would trade Mitch to coll for HL...we tried
  20. Varcoe dragging his feet about going to Pies. Complicates 3-way Mitch/HL deal. Not good options for us if Mitch to Geelong deal falls thru. Guess we just trade him to Coll for HL regardless of what MC wants...we tried!
  21. Without pick 12 for Chook/GNF elite type deals, lets hope we can still do a Tyson-type trade. While, GWS is our best bet they have their hands full trying to sort out the Griffen/Boyd battle and/or trying to get pick 1 from the saints. I feel we have been dealt out of that card game. GWS, Saints and Bulldogs will do the deals that need to be done. Looks like it is time for Plan B, otherwise the risk is when the trading music stops @ 2pm Thurs we are left 'empty-handed' so to speak.
  22. If you can't name the person why give this clue. A cursory glance at an AFL club's website, out that way shows who it is. Better not to give too much away, even if by accident.
  23. Hird had that Shane Carter guy helping him...yeah, the one who sourced TB4 for Danks from China. Trenners would be best served staying as far away as HIrd as possible!!!
  24. He is so professional he possibly went too hard when Richmond put him thru his paces. Jack probably needed to get back to full fitness on a gradual training program, rather than face a full-on fitness test which is probably at 'playing fitness' level. Whatever footy holds for you, you will always be a champion guy for how you carried yourself at MFC under terrible conditions. Good Luck young man.
