Farewell Clayton Oliver
To preserve the Charlie FA compensation pick.

Farewell Clayton Oliver
Just using this post as an example: I reckon picks around ND40 will come in a long way this year because the many top rated academy and F/S players will use up lots of picks in the 25 to 40 range. Specifically on Oliver to the Pies they will probably want to do a trade for Mihocek!!!! I put nothing past them! But I hope he goes to GWS as imv he doesn't need the scrutiny that comes with the pies and those fans turning on him if it doesn't go well early on. Also, at GWS I can barrack for him as I do Jesse!

The same goes for the suggested Merrett picks. My astonishment is they think Merrett is worth a player and another first round pick more than Petracca.

So pick 7 and a slide up of a few draft spots for Petracca!!! Yet for Merrett they think: -Essendon receives Henry Hustwaite, Pick 8, Pick 29, 2026 first-round pick -Hawthorn receives Zach Merrett, 2026 second-round pick Setting aside the pick swaps they reckon Merrett is worth a top 10 pick plus another first round pick plus a player. Yet Merrett is the same age and other than being captain of a craap team and 6 BnF because the team is craap there is no way the two trade scenarios make sense. He has also gone scorched earth on his club. I have no idea what those guys are on!

Farewell Charlie Spargo
My guess is if Mihocek comes as an FA it would wipe out or dilulte the Charlie FA pick. If he comes as a trade then we keep the Charlie pick. Once the BM 'trade' is decided we will know the compensation pick for Charlie.

. Its a bit 'smoke and mirrors'. There has been a small reduction in the points needed to match a bid. The discount on those points is now 10% not 20% (why they give any discount is beyond me!) The points attached to draft picks ends at end of round 3 (nominally 54) whereas it was end of round 5 (nominally) 72. Imv it isn't that much fairer as clubs will still trade out their top picks and will stock pile picks to match bids ie picks in 20'w and 30's rather than previously 40+. This will be much easier with future trading of 2026 and 2027 picks. Again, imv the AFL should revert to the system where a club could not hold more picks than list spots. Without that limitation it is just another free kick for such clubs. For more detailed info: the-example-that-shows-how-matching-bids-will-be-harder-in-2025 Where it might help other clubs is that picks in the 30's and low 40's will come in a long

@Demonland Would you like to lock the joint thread to avoid lots of repetition with these and their respective player review threads.

Best reason I've heard so far for Trac choosing only interstate clubs! And I would say very close to the truth especially for the eldest son a family with Italian heritage and married to a 'foreigner'.

I assume you mean the 2024 Brownlow?

Last year it was reported (who knows if correct) that he was willing to forgo $ if traded. I guess a farm in Geelong would compensate any $ loss.

How would Trac know? More likely his manager! Don't think we can blame every thing we don't like on Trac.

Maybe but why didn't Richardson and Lamb say 'bad luck mate; we will wait till King is on board in a few days days'. Surely, they are competent enough to manage a player and critical trade discussions!

I'm ok with all that. It is the vitriol on DL that surrounds those points that imv is abhorrent and unnecessary.

King interview on SEN “On our terms”: Melbourne coach reveals Petracca planExclusive: Steven King has set the record straight on Christian Petracca.Interesting that the meeting with Trac about exploring options was last week and King wasn't there in person nor by phone/video. And they haven't met in person. “Those discussions might have happened in Grand Final week, so I wasn’t actually privy to any of those meetings,” he said further. I would have thought whoever organised the meeting would wait a few days till King was available. This might be more spin by the club to protect his trade value: “I’ve got his back around walking back into the club and playing great footy, and I’ll back him in.” But I'll give King the benefit of the doubt and believe him. Maybe King and Petracca should meet and have a heart to heart. ...and posters cool their jets for a while.

This thread has turned very ugly. The bile being dished out based on assumptions, opinions, perceptions, 'vibes' presented as 'facts' is abhorrent. Such vitriol and accusations would rarely be used in one's private life so why do people feel free to abuse a player, his wife, his manager, his life etc. The frenzy is such that if this was medieval England there would be gallows in the main street with many lining up to pull the rope, cheered on by the lynch mob. It is sad to say what is being dished up in this thread says more about the posters than any of the targets. Its a game. He goes, he goes. Be disappointed, hurt but let's keep a bit of dignity among ourselves.

Farewell Judd McVee
Freo are probably still salty that we tried to lure TJ back. Remember the comment from their CEO: "I think Melbourne should take our players' names out of their mouths," Garlick said on SEN radio. So they will probably try a silly offer. While 'feather in my cap' Bell is gone, I'm not sure this lot are any easier to deal with. Note: Clearly they didn't heed their own advice, above in luring McVee. Hypocrites !!! Yes, I know spin is the second language in the AFL ... just venting as I'm still hurting Judd is leaving🥹

Is that me? If it is I'm not sure what I 'get' but I'm taking it as a compliment 😄

Farewell Judd McVee
I would be less angry if he just responded to fans and others: Don't know what will happen at the end of the year; homesick at times. Would be disappointed, he would always be a fave ala Hunt and I would wish him well. Clearly, I don't deal well with deception!!!

No reason for Lily to pay the price for McVee's deception. That he held back info from the club is one thing but that he clearly lied to Ghosty and to @Dannyz 's contacts says he cannot be trusted. She should dump him!!

Farewell Judd McVee
In time I can accept his move but that he consistently and without compunction lied to our dear Ghosty @Ghostwriter is beyond the pail! Not sure he will be on my favourite list much longer ... methinks it is time to find a new avatar.

2025 Grand Final
I took perverse pleasure particularly in one aspect of the Cat's loss.. After they beat us at GMHA this year, Holmes mockingly said "we didn't know how to tag" !!!! Well, those chickens came home to roost yesterday when Scott tagged Mc Cluggage and Rayner. It didn't work and let Lions lose. Eventually, removing the tag from McCluggage but alas too late !!!
