  1. Burgess is listed as speaking at the club Forum on Dec 10 so if he is to go it isn't imminent. Clearly Crows want him. They have just recruited Tim Parham (physio) from Arsenal who would have worked there with Burgess for a short while. Apparently, Nicks and Burgess worked at Port at the same time. The closed SA border would not have helped with personal contact with his kids. I'd say the writing is on the wall - just a matter of when. Hopefully after our pre-season is over giving us some time to find a replacement.
  2. Of course clubs have been surveying delisted players for weeks. That is different than what you posted earlier saying a DFA would be locked in before contracting 5 players.
  3. Umm, not sure why you quoted my post which was positive and supportive of Oscar and continuation of his footy career.. For the record I agree with your comments.
  4. Why? The DFA selection period hasn't opened yet. It opens on Thursday. We will only know of DFA's successfully pursued later in the week (or when their is another DFA selection period). Lockhart deserves his promotion. There are other ways to create list spots if that is your reason for not promoting him.
  5. Oscar discussed as one of the 10 best DFA's available: best-delisted-free-agents "A victim of Melbourne’s aggressive recruiting in defence. Just 24 and has a stack of potential if he can put it all together. Managed 60 games from 2016-18 but just 19 since with the arrivals of Steven May and Jake Lever. Again, looks a great option for a side like the Western Bulldogs, who are looking to add more defensive support. However a side like Carlton or even Gold Coast could be just as appropriate. He could play a role at the Suns like that of Rory Thompson, who continues to battle injury in his bid to return to the elite level". Feeling more optimistic for him. I'm a bit surprised Sydney aren't mentioned. Hope he gets another gig.
  6. I interpreted the 2 year guaranteed offer as coming straight onto the list rather than a 'lets see how you go' offer. May have misinterpreted the guarantee. I guess a player could be guaranteed 2 years on the rookie list but there would be a bit of a difference in pay.
  7. It won't be while McLachlan and Goyer are at the helm. They don't want blood on their hands to be part of their legacy.
  8. The Cedric Cox noted above pursuit suggests we are using a list spot for a DFA leaving 2 spots available after Lockhart's promotion. This strengths my hunch we will take 2 new draftees and we will convert our 4 picks (18, 19, 28 and 50) into the best two we can get. Otherwise 28 and 50 are wasted.
  9. It isn't really a big deal. A problem was that a huge number of their players were contracted into 2021 and beyond so couldn't get from 51 to 44 and maintain commitments to players and the draft. They have lost 2 list spots and will lose more in the next few years to reach the same level as other clubs. They still have to work to the same sal cap as everyone else. And they can only field 22 player each week. Not worth worrying about.
  10. If we were to add a player eg Jetta as a DFA it would use up a senior list spot so we could only take 2 picks to the draft.
  11. Yes it is an option but the I think GWS and Coll hold a much stronger hand and will out trump ours for a top 10 pick. What happens to pick 50? Given today's contracts I wouldn't be surprised if we take 2 new draftees plus Lockhart (leaving a senior list spot vacant) and swap the 4 picks we have for the 2 best draft picks we can get.
  12. Lockhart's promotion must be via a draft pick and therefore he is counted as a draftee. Whether we take 2 more or 3 more draftees is the unknown. Depending on that we will have 1 or 2 too many picks (until we swap).
  13. Too bad...I'll change it next time :-)
  14. Excellent work @Gawndog98. Thanks. Just to let you know that with the promotion of Lockhart we will only have 3 senior list spots so cannot use our current pick 50 (ie #47) in your excellent analysis.
  15. While there has been no announcement I am including Bradtke as a rookie giving us a total of 4 rookies. We are allowed 6. We have 2 rookie spots vacant. As I understand the rules we can add a player to the PSSP as a rookie so we don't need to change KK's status. However, changing his status gives us another senior list spot in case we want to add DFA.
  16. Our draft picks are 18, 19, 28 and 50 (89 used to promote Lockhart and he is counted as a draftee pick by the AFL). After the latest contract signings we have 35 senior players (incl Lockhart) We then have a max of 3 vacant spots going into the draft. This means we cannot use pick 50 so it will need to be packaged eg with 28 and swapped for a low 20's pick. Or some other combo depending on how many players we want to draft. It was reported that mfc will take 3 draftees. If it is assumed Lockhart is one of those 3 draftees we aren't planning to use pick 28 at the draft (and will keep a list spot vacant) and it becomes 'surplus'. Some possibilities: package 19 (or 18), 28 and 50 for a mid low teen pick (altho there will be a lot of competition for mid-teen picks). if we can't do that convert 28 and 50 to a 2021 future pick So we aren't finished with pick swaps, yet!
  17. Updates: No more players OOC. Re-contracting of Jackson, Bedford, Jordon, Chandler, Brown Well deserved promotion of Lockhart to the senior list Final List sizes confirmed 'Used' draft pick 89 for Lockhart promotion Heading into the draft we have 35 senior players and 4 rookies (total 39) giving 3 senior and 2 rookie list spots. 3 Draftees will take us to the max allowed 38 senior players. The 2 rookie spots can be used for a PSSP or (multiple) mid-season drafts. And extra senior list spot can be created if we put KK onto a L-T injury list. At this stage it looks like we won't be adding a DFA to the senior list. A DFA will need to come as a rookie via the PSSP. I feel confident there will be a draft pick change that involves pick 50 otherwise it is wasted as we don't have a list spot for it. Reckon it will be #28 + 50 for a pick in the low 20's giving us the 3 picks at the draft. I will update the games played when I do the final list post drafts.
  18. It could be the reduced sal cap and the way the AFL is implementing it. Even renewing those players we have vacant spots on our playing list to add a DFA and a rookie or two (in addition to the 3 draftees we are reportedly to take). Perhaps the club thinks that unless we can afford a player that will be best 30 then we are no worse off keeping the players we have whose strengths and weaknesses are known.
  19. Looks like Roos will be wearing blue and white. ? . He will be mentoring Noble for a year. The North president has certainly got in early with the blow torch on Noble; wanting top 4 finish in the next 2 - 3 years and contending for a flag. noble-embraces-north-top-four-plan No chance. imv that is not helpful from a president. Let the dust settle.
  20. Correct on both points. another-petracca-making-a-name-for-himself-off-the-field His manager is Robbie D’Orazio of Connors Sports Management.
  21. The AFL has issued a new schedule of dates which I've posted in that thread. The answer to your 2nd question: Monday 30 November • List Lodgement 2 • Out of Contract Listed AFL Primary List Players Draft Nomination Form and Player Request for Removal from List Form Lodged with AFL • Final date for Primary List delistings
  22. There seems to be an update: Key dates for the 2020 NAB AFL Draft Period Wednesday 25 November • List Lodgement 1 • Nomination of Draft Eligible Father/Son Players Lodged • Nomination of Draft Eligible Northern & NGA Academy Players Lodged Thursday 26 November • AFL Delisted Player Free Agency Period (1) Commences Sunday 29 November • AFL Delisted Player Free Agency Period (1) Closes Monday 30 November • List Lodgement 2 • Out of Contract Listed AFL Primary List Players Draft Nomination Form and Player Request for Removal from List Form Lodged with AFL • Final date for Primary List delistings Tuesday 1 December • AFL Delisted Player Free Agency Period (2) Commences Wednesday 2 December • AFL Delisted Player Free Agency Period (2) Closes Thursday 3 December • AFL Trade Period Closes – Selections Only • Delisted Primary List Draft Nomination Form Lodgement • Non–Retained Rookie Players Draft Nomination Form Lodgement • Final Draft Nomination Form Lodgement • AFL Father-Son Bidding Nominations lodged with AFL Wednesday December 9 at 7pm AEDT • NAB AFL Draft Thursday December 10 at 12pm AEDT • NAB AFL Pre-Season & Rookie Draft
  23. Yes, they are the OOC players altho I haven't seen an mfc confirmation of M. Browns re-contracting as a rookie. I don't know the cut off date for them to be contracted. I would guess next Friday Nov 27 leaving a few days to nominate for the Draft which close on Nov 30. Could be wrong.
  24. It can change at the drop of a hat regardless of whether it is released in full in February or in 4 week blocs.
  25. A concern of the 'Frenzy footy' over two weeks is if a club is scheduled to play 2-3 of the top teams on 4 or 5 day breaks. At least if the AFL announce the full round by round fixture (without dates and times) it is less open to AFL manipulation. I have the same concern if a club is unduly disadvantaged by a heavy travel schedule during the frenzy time. The AFL showed this year that it was completely unfair in its rostering of travel/breaks. Publish the whole thing (without dates and times) up front is the fairest way to go.
