  1. I have edited my post to make it clear the rumour has been refuted.
  2. As noted I was referencing a prior post where the poster clearly said 'allegedly'. Good that you clarified the situation.
  3. It was mentioned as 'alleged' in the third para of the post I quoted and I qualified my comment with 'if'.
  4. I noted elsewhere in this thread why Goodwin lost me after last night. I agree this is not the time to change. It would be a knee-jerk reaction and look like optics management. The Board would make better use of their time asking why the FD review implementation has gone off the rails. imv it is imperative we get a CEO before acting on the coach. We just can't afford to have our total management chain in caretaker mode. I think we should ride the storm until then which hopefully is before the bye. Then the CEO can act on the coach. btw, poor form if Bickely (premiership teammate of Goodwin) relayed a private conversation. Edit: the rumour about what Bickley said has been refuted in posts below.
  5. I'll also be there, Jane.
  6. That is how I heard it: looking after himself. And he said (paraphrasing): it isn't about me, it is about the club, these players. If he has gone into self-protect mode is it any wonder the players are doing the same on the field. Oh! My kingdom for a CEO!
  7. @Demonland I just noticed this feature is back. Thanks!
  8. Until last night I was in Goodwin's camp. But not after these: At half time he said: Petty is going forward as we need the aerial presence. NSS!!!!! That was obvious on Thursday night. In his PR several times he put it all on the players: not enough fight. "...but we need to show more fight than what we showed. “We did it for a quarter, that’s all I’ll say. We did it for a quarter.” Sure they didn't perform to the level required but no need to rub it in or publicly shame them. In his PR he said: it isn't about me... King rightly took issue with that. I have this sick feeling Goodwin has gone into self-protect mode. And, I no longer trust his decision making.
  9. Can anyone lip read? Fox Sports‘They’re broken’: Glaring Demons ‘flaw’ exposed as fresh...‘They’re broken’: Glaring Demons ‘flaw’ exposed as fresh details over Petracca saga emergeHeartbreaking scene😭 At the 37sec mark of the video at the top of that article Jones is talking to Gawn. I won't try and interpret the body language. Whatever Jones is selling Max and co sure aren't buying.
  10. That comment needs one of these 😉, the closest emoji to 'tongue-in-cheek' coz I know you weren't serious.
  11. While Jack hasn't been a Demon for long and not admired like others, he is one of us so would like to congratulate Jack and Sarah on the arrival of their new baby, Oscar.
  12. I hope that is a joke. Females are as entitled as men to go tot the loo, shower and change clothes and not have to wait until they are all out of the change rooms. Maybe they should let her use the change rooms first!
  13. Looks like the whinging C Scott is posturing 🤮 for umpire favours vs Adelaide afl.com.auScott accuses AFL of 'cherry-picking' umpiring mistakesChris Scott has taken aim at the League's admission of an umpiring error on the weekend, and is bracing for an overcorrection against his side
  14. I'm not convinced it is fitness. As the captain (surprisingly) admitted: Our spirit was broken (and to me looks like it still is). When the spirit is broken some players will unconsciously ease back on effort. This spreads to other players and before we know it they drop easy marks, don't run hard enough for teammates, don't chase with intent, find it easier to bomb the ball than try and pinpoint a short kick or HB, don't show care to a struggling teammate etc etc. All of these have been ever present the last 3 weeks and more obvious live at the games. So what looks like lack of fitness could easily be disenchantment and lack of effort.
  15. In the old version if you had an thread open there would be a pop-up to say there were new posts and ask if you wanted to go to the next new post. I found it handy if I had a bunch of threads open or was writing a post to know others had arrived and to refresh the thread. Can live without it 🙂
  16. Pick 10 wasn't my suggestion - it was a previous poster. I hope they both stay.
  17. I agree! I was disgusted that all three went and joked with Maynard.
  18. This is part of Lewis' comment last night: “Because I think at end you’ve got him, who’s clearly disappointed, it means a lot to him, he’s a competitor, he likes to win. And then you’ve got Clayton Oliver — who is also competitive — effectively joking with opposition players at the end of the game.” Is that to be interpreted as Oliver is on his way to Geelong? Which reaction do you prefer after the third thrashing in a row: Petracca who was among out best wearing his heart on his sleeve or Oliver laughing with the opp.?
  19. Are these comments based on facts/inside info or pure speculation. If the latter please do not make it sound like the former. TIA.
  20. I totally get what value statements are and their role. I've written more than enough for a variety of organisations in my working life. Re my post: I acknowledged it as a Value statement albeit, imv, not a very good one and belongs in a Strategic Plan (my words)/Corporate Piece (your words). imv it failed as a motivational statement/motto/mantra if that is the intention.
  21. No one said they did. This thread isn't intended to rehash the reasons for our poor performance. There are more than enough threads on that already. Their job was to implement the FD Review recommendations and this thread is about their current involvement if any. If not, the FD review may never be fully implemented. I would say, that if Crowe is still involved he has a role in player motivation (ie effort and desire).
  22. I'm with you on not needing the mumbo jumbo and consultant speak. However, I do believe a simple two or three word mantra can be very powerful. eg sometime around the changeover of Roos to Goodwin when selflessness/teamwork was required the motto was 'Esprit de corps'.
  23. I get the intent of the "......" statement. It looks the result of a workshop where the management consultant asked "what do we want to stand for and value" who then dutifully writes it on the whiteboard.... It is borderline acceptable in a Strategic Plan but too complex as a motivational mantra if that is the intention. Something simple and inspirational is best to motivate.
  24. Last I read was in December, Shand would work at mfc to help implement the FD Review and mentor in leadership for on and off field FD leaders. Re Ben Crowe. He worked with FD at Bright last year but now ...? But who is the internal project ‘Champion’ of the Review now that Pert is gone? It isn’t Green’s (or the Board’s) job to implement change. An Interim CEO doesn’t usual have a remit for that in a substantive way. The GM, FD and Coach wouldn't have a great incentive to implement changes/take advice from outsiders. My concern is that without an internal 'Champion' to drive change, inertia has set in and (the old) status quo prevails. I had high hopes of their involvement to fixbut sadly I see little improvement for the work Shand and Crowe did and imv we have gone backwards in FD leadership (Shand's remit) and mind set and mindfulness Corwe's remit). Did MFC terminate their involvement or have they quietly 'left the building' for lack of support?
