JVR was one of the big disappointments on the day for me. I understand wet conditions etc but he just didn’t look anywhere near it. Should he have been given some time in the ruck to at least get him into the game?

yep..it both sealed the game and appeared to be his / our redemption against his premature, first game, gang tackling, pies. BOG that day and the next year not playing for us and the next retired. AFL footy is tough sport.

In retrospect didn't the dees end up offering what would have been 4 x 1st rounders for him? ( given where we finished last year) . If so thats an offer they will never get again and are no doubt regretting not taking as much as I am glad it didnt happen. We dont need saviours....and we've been down that track too many times.

Interesting comment at the end of that article of Caro's re the demons being concerned about WHO Oliver spoke to in those meetings last year. To me that means it was more than players and or coaches as that would be expected. So joining the dots here Im guessing he would have had a deal put to him at way less than the dees were paying and that whoever else was that there might have made it clear where his extra money was coming from.

yea it’s easier to break into their side but then finish bottom 3. Whereas if he can break into the dees side he could be playing on the g in September.
