  1. As much as I love the MFC and will be here in any coming highs and lows … I have to say I feel his sacking was a mistake. I’ve got a sick feeling about it.
  2. The internet was in operation when Jackson was in charge and I remember the leaks were almost non existent. let’s be honest… we have a problem.
  3. Can we please include in this conversation the draft this year is BOTH highly compromised with academy and F/S and is supposedly a weak draft anyway. So even a “ late first rounder” , that some here are so keen on getting, might end up being a pick 26 or so in a weak draft. Not the year for trading out players.
  4. Stop the frikn leaks!
  5. Except he would have already broken it down! ;-)
  6. I think youre on to something there. She does work this way. The tanking story ( zeroing it all in on just US anyway) was in the main to protect the gambling money coming into the AFL. Its why I refuse to listen to anything she says now.
  7. Gosh I dont know...if only we could find a premiership winning coach, committed to keep evolving our game plan, who we know could elecit a strong team bond and unity and someone who had the work ethic of a bull. ie the one we just had! The more I think about Goodys sacking and everyone screaming for him to go the angrier I feel. Even if Buckley is available Im not sure I wouldn't prefer Goody. Im willing to be proven wrong in time and please come back and bite me later.... but I cant get past feeling that this was a big mistake.
  8. Turner in a horrible turnover ( after a great mark) led to a direct goal..in the 1st. Rivers turned it over with a short kick coming out of defence straight to a bulldog...leading directly to a goal . In the 2nd. Langford fluffs his kick to a wide open melksham in the sqaure ...balls goes oob. in the last ? Thats three. There may be more. I cant remember the doggies doing the same that led directly to goals? But being honest the doggies also hit the post 6 times .
  9. Agreed. He's had a taste...which should inspire him in the off season. Id give kentfield the same kind of taste in one of these last 2 games as well.
  10. Wanted to underline the question re losing close games. 6 this year. I was super proud of the team yesterday and can see the bright possibilities but close losses is definitely now a habit . It has been since losing 2 close finals in 23. imo we get so close because we’re still such a great contested side.. with some very exciting young talent emerging now also. We lose because we consistently have too many goal costing brain fades across a game. At least we didn’t lose yesterday because we kicked badly for goal… so there’s that. But ANY clues as to how we turn this heartbreaking habit of losing close games around?
  11. It happened often last year too… this isn’t just a 2025 thing. It’s been happening since we lost 2 close finals in 2023. I can barely remember the last game under a goal we won. Bad kicking for goal, missed opportunities, simple errors, umpires, plain bad luck. But the fact is that losing a lot of close ones does say something about a team. The positive. The dees ARE showing we’re not that far away. We’re matching it with everyone else’s n fact and I was proud of them today. But Bridging that small gap and walking away with more wins than losses is a mindset/ fitness/ skill thing that a new coach is going to have to change.
  12. I’m share some of these sentiments. Im concerned they’re going to collapse inwardly and be demolished . On the other hand Im hoping the play for goodys memory and the future. We’re going to know by the 10 minute mark of the 1st.
  13. He seems to do both a lot right and an awful lot wrong. Zero excitement left for him.
  14. lol...no...but maybe a crown of thorns? Actually I'm grabbing on to any positives today about the club I can find in a bleak week, so I appreciate this small morsel.
  15. Jesus Redleg I do hope you're right...or your sources. The importance of it is growing exponentially by the year.
  16. Thank you Goody. A real leader of men at this club through the best and worst of times. You’ll be sorely missed by many.
  17. I want to be optimistic but I just can’t find it in any believable way. It’s the official end of such an exciting era and I think so many of Goodys qualities will be missed. I miss him already. Will we ever see another era like it? Another collection of stars like it? I’m in no way certain we will.
  18. Honestly I feel shattered. I can’t imagine how the players feel. His exit, for better or worse, puts the full stop on the most successful era in my time as a supporter and the best dee coach I have known. Always calm, always looking to gather the players in and not to punish. Thank you Simon for bringing our dee supporting dreams to a glorious fruition in 21. A legend of our club.
  19. I feel devastated. I wasnt one calling for him to go. He was well loved by the players. Can hardly believe it.
  20. My feeling is that the clubs been in a long " after shock" of Brayshaw, Oliver and then Petracca which has manifested itself in losing in unimaginable ways since 2023. My instinct without knowing anything at all is that the loss to Stkilda was the clear out we needed and the response against the West coast confirmed it for me. I think perhaps he wanted to feel that...and he will sign on now. I also feel that we will be in the next 3 games up to our eye balls and prove a lOT of people wrong about many things..we will kick straight and this team will be re finding its mojo.
  21. In my book he’s a must keep.
  22. you lost me at “according to Caro” . I stopped listening to her after the tanking fiasco … as she has her own agendas. A lot of “in the know” posters here say he’s staying. Let’s see.
  23. So much negativity on this site. I’m so over the constant club bashing, coach bashing and player bashing that’s taken over. I mean yes of course it’s been a very disappointing year with cruel ways of losing , and a killer loss v saints. But can you please include a bit of looking at the positives.
  24. Good to see some of the kids shine. Windsor in the last, Culley, Langford ( seriously.. how good is this guy)
  25. Good to see the dees get some confidence and kick straighter. A good response from the club.
