NON MFC: Round 06
Is it just me... or is the footy just completely uninspired this year - to the point where it feels irrelevant? Boring games, no passion, feels like watching training.

Through different eyes
Yeah, nah. It’s not too much to ask that your team isn’t the worst performing side over the last 18 months. I’m tired of being told to keep my head up. I wish the club spent less money on touchy-feely videos about being ‘back from hell’ and instead used the money on some forward line coaching.

GAMEDAY: Rd 04 vs Geelong
Geelong have a plan about chipping the ball around and drawing us out, and then going quickly once they can. We rely solely on explosive brilliance from someone, or else we go long down the line. It’s simply not a plan and there’s only one person to blame, and that’s the coach. It’s been 18 months of utter garbage.

GAMEDAY: Rd 01 vs West Coast
How much football do we have to watch where we get beaten the EXACT same way? Winning the inside 50’s but bombing the ball to no one. It’s been the same for 20+ games. The game plan stinks.

Not to be that guy, but way too many folks here fell for a good edit and some thoughtful music. We’re a long way from being ‘back from hell‘. The 2 way running is pathetic.

POSTGAME: Rd 23 vs Kangaroos
Jones’ kick that turned the ball over was the final nail in his coffin as Captain.

Oliver Sprays Fritsch
Not to play devils advocate but if the team plan for the evening was give first options with hands to get the ball outside then Oliver might have simply been frustrated by the fact it didn’t happen. If more Melbourne players did that not more often (like one of our co-captains) we might not be so predictable. Just a thought.

GAMEDAY: Rd 21 vs Collingwood
It took Roos 3 years to get the club to stop accepting losing as its default state, and now in 20 games we are right back there again. There’s no fight, no passion, no mongrel. Just continuing to a structure that gets exploited the same way every week. It’s the same game every round for us.

GAMEDAY: Rd 20 vs Richmond
Love that a Tigers player drags the ball 20 metres from goal and the umpire yells out ‘already on the ground when he grabbed’. Where was that rule 2 weeks ago? That rule is far too unevenly applied. In general umpires decisions are purely based on perception of who is the better player/club.

POSTMATCH: Rd 19 vs St. Kilda
Is it weird that I want the media, all of them, to come after us really hard now? Its time the club felt extreme heat.
-
POSTGAME: Rd 11 vs Adelaide
I’d love to ask Pert how much he predicts this season will cost us in membership and sponsorship revenue. We will be held accountable, and it’s such a waste.

POSTGAME: Rd 1 vs Port Adelaide
We are under done. The preseason looked ordinary and we had more surgeries than any other side. It’s not about week 1, it’s about a season. We didn’t have the legs today. You simply can’t win a game of professional sport if you don’t have the aerobic capacity to compete for more then 80% of the game. I don’t mind what happened today in the context of where we are at as a side. It’s a wake up to all that it’s a very competitive competition. Keep the faith.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
I’ll back in our footy department everyday after what they’ve been able to achieve over the passed 4 years. Thye have earned and deserve trust.

Say what you want, I’m proud of this club this year.
Today really helps to solidify the argument that small moments in regular season matches matter. We win 1 more and finish top 4 and it’s a very different outcome. I’m super proud of where the clubs at, and I love that we’ve got such highly competitive players that today will really sting. Go Dees!

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Really disappointed the club couldn’t have got the deal done on Monday - so he could have come to our B&F.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Reports on AFL site that Lever's been advised not to come to the Crows B&F tonight. First they low ball him, and now they won't even buy the bloke dinner. Classy.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Lever is a good player no doubt, but he's allowed to read the play and react because of Talia. Im not sure we have a Talia type. I think we have a lot of 'developing' Lever types. Id love to have him, but I'd love a gun outside midfield runner more. GWS have a few, but one of them wouldn't exactly be welcomed back with opened arms. I actually think our defence is looking ok. Our team defence and structure is often the issue.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY
Demonland the day after a win: The premiership is ours! Demonland the day after a loss: Trade everyone! (Closely followed by 14 pages of arguing with each other about the order in which to trade - and who is the 'softest' of our players)
-
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY
If May leaves GCS they are going to want either a ridiculous draft hand (which I doubt given their inability to maintain players) or more likely an experienced player in the 23-25 age bracket. I don't see how we get it done without losing something of value. People talking about Watts will then very quickly complain about our lack of tall forwards.

The Petracca v McCartin debate reprised
I think everyone is going WAY too early on McCartin. Given the difficulty of playing forward of the ball in the modern game, and the ability of defenders at AFL standard, it's not like key forwards can just walk into the game and have an awe inspiring impact straight away....

Clarence Oliver
4th in the competition for disposals AND 5th for tackles. The only other player on both top 5 tallies is Joel Selwood. The kid is a star. Once he starts getting wider recognition he'll get looked after better by the umps too.
