  1. To be fair if I’ve had a few drinks I’d have some choice words for any young kids even contemplating being a Melbourne supporter.
  2. Agree. Their list and what they’ve achieved is literally one of the things that gives me solace when we are terrible. Its a tough game AFL. Talent and potential only gets you on the park. Hard work and consistency is the key.
  3. Got some stats that back that up the unreliability of the tests?
  4. Do you think the list manager at Richmond is calling Oscar’s manager for a highlight reel? You can’t trade what doesn’t have value.
  5. In answer to the OP’s question... I’m really looking forward to: To Hell and Back 2 : The Sequel
  6. Calm down on Pickett. In his first year Clarry was in and out of the side. It’s a long season for 19 year olds. He’ll get better.
  7. Someone with a no holds barred attitude, supported by an experienced elder statesmen with both people and fitness skills. Mark Neeld, and Neil Craig. Obviously.
  8. Wow. You folks need to pull your head in. He’s been injured most of the year and struggled for consistency. Max is not the problem. He has a genuine go.
  9. What did he say? Turned off to sink Negroni’s.
  10. Brown was saying Melbourne would love to have Jesse back, and Garry repeatedly said ‘on the field, on the field, on the field’. He also said it’s not a surprise that he doesn’t work and prepare to the AFL standard. It was as close to saying he’s a nightmare off the field as you can get.
  11. Garry Lyon on Jesse Hogan was VERY insightful.
  12. Live I saw Jimmy run over the mark right in front of me in the ‘87 prelim, Jakovich kick 11 against North in 91, The Ox’s comeback game after 3 knee reco’s, The wizard kick 9 goals in a half in 2000 and remember the run into the 2000 GF fondly. But that Hannan goal was everything. As supporters we had been through 15 years of garbage to get there, and then to do it the way we did with hard work and determination was amazing. I let out a roar that was only deafened by the other 70,000 Melbourne supporters letting out the same primal scream of joy. In my opinion what’s happened since has been heartbreaking for supporters. We aren’t playing anywhere near our potential.
  13. I’ve found Luke Hodge quite insightful in games he’s been at the ground for in Brisbane this year. Its funny because it highlights the massive gap between the modern game and the commentary. He’ll often explain that a team is pushing an extra player to the contest or restructuring, and why. The commentators can’t build from that though as they don’t understand it, so they just say ‘Great stuff from Hodgey’. It’s embarrassing.
  14. Thanks for the kind words all ? I don’t take the jokes as anything but making fun of the ridiculous world we’re currently living in (some of them were hilarious). Im just super annoyed that both the Queensland government and the AFL will excuse this all away - while paying lip service to the community. They should both fine Richmond $500k and donate the money to pay nursing staff in Victoria for the hell they’ve had to endure these last few months. As for my brother, he’s a Melbourne supporter, so he’s always joking that he already knows about pain and suffering ??‍♂️?
  15. My 70 year old mother had to get a special letter of exemption from the Queensland department of Health (which took her months) just to be able to visit my brother, who is dying of liver and bowel cancer in Brisbane. Then she had to do 2 weeks of quarantine by herself, where she got fresh air exactly twice in those 2 weeks (including doing a 9 day streak with no outside air at all). I’m not allowed to travel to Queensland and may never see my brother again. The Queensland government and the AFL needs to explain to me, my family, and the literally thousands of other people with heart breaking stories like mine why they are getting such a sweet deal - when they continue to prove they can’t even live by the most basic, community minded rules. It makes me sick.
  16. Wow. Honestly some of the comments in this thread say so much about the people making them, and nothing about a guy whose played almost 15 years at the highest level. He has come to the end but he shouldn’t, and won’t, be remembered for his last few games.
  17. This. The club keeps pumping up narratives about once we get to x amounts of games with this group blah, blah, blah. Ultimately the coach has to create a winning system and inspire the players to deliver it. 4 seasons in and Goodwin is below expectations, and has had a very good run at it this year with injuries. I hope Glenn Bartlett is watching.
  18. Ohhhhh no. You can’t just pin this on the players. This is Goodwin’s 4th year as coach. His list, his team, his structures. It doesn’t work, and he has to wear the blame.
  19. Burgess has to wear some of this surely? Off short breaks we don’t look up to it.
  20. You beauty! Steven May all night, and Clarry and Trac when it mattered.
  21. Wonder if Riewoldt still thinks we lost the May and Lever recruitments? They’ve kept us in it.
  22. Without Steven May we’d be 8 goals behind. the guy is an absolute gun
  23. Oliver has to be carrying something. He’s a shadow of himself. No explosion, struggling to compete. Odd.
  24. Honestly, he’s lacked real intensity this year. He’s missed very gettable goals at often crucial times for us, and he just isn’t living up to his potential. This might just be what he needs. Now he has a point to prove.
  25. Brad Hill is on 900k a year over 6 years and will be almost 34 at the end of that contract! Let’s just see how that plays out. The saints almost dropped him 6 weeks ago. Jake Lever had a horrific knee injury and is still only 24. We paid overs because he fit the list demographic perfectly. May is a huge win over Hogan, no matter how you look at it given what’s occurred. Everyone else is swings and roundabouts. I really rate Langdon in terms of what he offers to us structurally. He holds his shape better than any outside Melbourne player in 10 years. The issue with us has been player development. Fritsch, Harmes, Hannon, ANB and Brayshaw, Weed and Salem in particular (as high draft pics) just haven’t stepped up. We needed 2-3 of those guys to become solid talent, and some still have time, but haven’t don’t it yet.
