  1. Reports on AFL site that Lever's been advised not to come to the Crows B&F tonight. First they low ball him, and now they won't even buy the bloke dinner. Classy.
  2. I didn't think it was possible for me to dislike footy as much as I have in 2017.
  3. Freo are planting the Hogan story, and they will continue to plant it every year. They know he is a gun, and they know how badly they need him. It's smart of them to do it. Some players get awfully upset at even the possibility of a trade - just ask Jordan Lewis. The only thing we have to worry about is whether Hogan is enticed to go, or whether the club is being vocal with him about how valuable he is to us.
  4. The irony of GWS is that they don't know how to play this ground. They are always 25 metres short in the midfield zone positioning. And because they AFL doesn't want to be embarrassed by their lack of supporters they'll get so few games scheduled at the G. It's going to be a real issue for them.
  5. I therefore assume you support the right of our brave and proud LGBT soldiers and military personnel to marry whomever they see fit?
  6. Everything is a political/social issue. So let's do away with: Anzac Day, Indigenous Round, the Woman's AFL entirely, the Pride match, Multicultural round, our Indigenous mascot, Melbourne's reconciliation plan, and the AFL's respect and responsibility policy. That would really make the game better wouldn't it?
  7. 14,000. Lowest final attendance in 100 years. Slow clap for the AFL. Nailed it. ☹️
  8. Wow. Isn't that what the rule about lifting your arm up and drawing high contact was brought in for? Wasnt a great night for headquarters. 3rd umpire looked inconsistent, ruck rules are a joke that isn't funny anymore, and then that high free makes a mockery of recent rule changes brought in to stop that.
  9. I'd like Essendon to get beaten by something in the 186 range.
  10. So what did you learn Saty? Aside from being disappointed do they feel they know where some answers lie?
  11. Well that's true. The how and why is what makes me angry. Can you tell I hate Essendon ?
  12. You've got to be f*cking joking? Essendon got the softest AFL sponsored ride I've ever seen the year. Their draw was laughably easy. And as angry as I am at the MFC right now I'd never want to support a club that is still in denial about what happened like Essendon are. You can trot out James Hird on Grand Final day and all anyone will think is 'oh look, a convicted drug cheat that failed to admit his clear abuse of the system, and the bodies of the young men he was charged with caring for'. I won't be giving Essendon a [censored] thing. I despise that club. I hope Sydney beat them by 200 points. They don't deserve to be there.
  13. But this is the thing - we don't move forward together. They call us 'members' as it's more engaging than saying sponsors (which is reserved for businesses), but ultimately all we are is small scale sponsors. I can't do the preseason work. I can't encourage the players to play with more skill, or discipline, or composure. They have to do it, and I have to decide if it's worthy of my contribution. Sadly I'm not that discerning. I can't help but contribute, and the logic of not contributing to the club now (as opposed to any other stage in the last 12 years) seems flawed. And on the concept of the club addressing anything at the moment I actually hope they don't. I don't judge them by their words. No one should. I'm tired of the PR spin. We've moved beyond that.
  14. No more or less than any other club. Hawthorn talk about being the 'family' club but Jordan Lewis jokes about owing Hodgey and Roughy bottles of Grange, and they always talk about wine and expensive food. I don't think it matters if you win. If the players do what is expected I prefer to be disconnected from them. I'm a 39 year old man for god's sake. Do I wanna grab a burger with Clayton Oliver? I wouldn't wish that on either of us. The only thing that connects us is the history of the footy club, and I like it that way.
  15. Such logic. Surely you're at the wrong website today? ?
  16. You're totally right about the gender comment and I apologise. There's nothing wrong with being upset BUT there is something seriously wrong with acting like a child and manufacturing narratives around misinformation (which my original comment was in refernece too). One could genuinely argue that it's mentally unhealthy.
  17. Why are the umpires wearing pale blue today? I've watched 2 Freo players pass to umpires thinking they are players. so dumb.
  18. If I have to read another [censored] post about how the club takes people away from time with their family I'll vomit. The club doesn't take me away from my family. It's a welcome distraction. Hell, I might get an NRL side, an EPL team and a WNBA side. The club isn't 'taking' you away from anything. You are choosing. I can assure you that no sporting teams 'guarantees' a high win ratio. No one was promised anything. Stop acting betrayed, and dragging your family into it. It's insulting to them, and to the realities of being a sports fan.
  19. I'm a two time university drop out, so I'll give you real world answers (because who has time for 500 words). Option 1: Too draining for an inexperienced team undoubtedly, but we'll never get there if we don't work through it, and learn to maintain it. Option 2: Yes and No. No in that our 2 best players yesterday were born in the mid 90's. They could give a stuff about what happened in the 60's. It's only irrational supporters manufacturing links in their minds that create what Roos called 'the veil of negativity'. The pressure to succeed because of a lack of success can create a fear of failure in the players that is self fulfilling. Goodwin knows it. He spoke about 'habits' because they need to replace our 'instincts'. Shifting the 'this can't be happening' instinct to an 'I'm in control of this' habit.
  20. You've come to the wrong place mate. This space is clearly reserved for humourless tantrum throwers ?
  21. How many people, outside of hardcore Melbourne and Geelong fans, remember we got belted by a 100 points in Rnd 23 last year? Id say less than 10% of footy fans. Yet a lot of people picked us to make the 8 this year. Most fans, sponsors, players and the the AFL judge you for your year.
  22. Wow. Maybe just a touch melodramatic? This place is more emotional than a 13 year old girl who didn't get invited to a birthday party.
  23. Every other team except: Saints against us 2 weeks ago when we knocked them out of finals. GWS last night when Geelong knocked them out of top 2. Bulldogs last week when Port ended their finals hopes. Thats 3 examples in 3 weeks. You feel it more because this is the team you support, but this crap about 'it's only us' and 'we are cursed' is stopping the acceptance of reality. Young team = inconsistency.
