Jason Taylor - Is he up to it?

Mids, mids & more mids then a ruckman please -
Fix the Midfield and we'll rise very quickly!
wattsjurrahdunne replied to PaulRB's topic in Melbourne Demons
In my view it is not just that we need to add 5 midfielders and a quality ruckman, we need 2 of those midfielders to be better than N Jones & 2 of those midfielders to be better than Vince & Tyson. What I'm trying to say is that in a top 2 or 3 side, N Jones is the 3rd or 4th midfielder and Tyson & Vince are the 6th & 7th midfielders. I must admit to not rating Tyson anywhere near as highly as some on this site. I see him as being the most ineffective 25 possession midfielder in the comp. Outside of the stoppage, he's a liability and far too one sided for me. -
Free Agency Targets - Dan Hannebery

This is the problem and why it is laughable when these true A Grade players keep getting put forward. The fact is we have to get to being a genuine finals contender before genuine A graders will consider us. We have to do it via the Draft and trying to secure some good B graders eg Bernie Vince before we can even hope to get a Dangerfield or Shiel or Hannaberry.- 33 replies

I predicted us to finish 17th (only ahead of Saints) with 5 wins. I am disappointed with this so I can only imagine how disappointed those of you that predicted 8 - 10 wins must be.

Spencer caused 3 goals in that 1st quarter as he spoilt Tommy Mac on the goal line which caused a second Tippett goal. FCS stop the Spencer experiment.

My 3 word player analysis V The Dockers
wattsjurrahdunne replied to joeboy's topic in Melbourne Demons
Garland played on Ballantyne for most of the the first 3 quarters. -
Today was it for me. Would be nearly the most ineffective game of any of his 100 and boy that is saying something. Will further harm the "culture" of the playing list by NOT dropping him after that performance. Does anyone think Ross Lyon wouldn't have dropped him by now?

Big Quality Mids, please -
Let's at least establish one thing. Anyone who proposes that we drop Pederson after his gallant performance today, needs to acknowledge they either didn't watch the game or know absolutely nothing the game.

My 3 word player analysis v Gold Coast

Jetta - very embarrassing incident -
Absolutely convinced that both Vince & Dawes should & will come in next week. A no brainer that Toumpas will be one of the players to make way. The second player will be either JKH or Brayshaw and either player will be extremely unlucky. Dawes is critical for structure and I believe Hogan, Watts, Garlett & VandenBerg will all benefit from Dawes playing.

I hope so as despite signing as a Trident for another year I've decided I won't continue to waste my time watching a side that contains McKenzie, Bail & Matt Jones.

TURNING OUR BACKS ON THE IRISH

Pearce Handley & Zac Tuohey would walk into Melbourne's best team. -
David King on the Melbourne blueprint

I've been somewhat surprised at the optimism of some suggesting 8 to 10 wins next year. Todd Viney's comments in the Herald Sun this morning stating 2015 would be more hard yards with things starting to look better from 2016 suggested to me that there is another bottom 2/3 year ahead. Boy, I hope they get these 4 draft picks right. -
Correct, I posted several weeks ago that Grimley is not rated at all by the senior players still Hawthorn. A current Premiership player who is my son's best mate told us that they can't believe he is still on their list. Would be a certainty that the likes of N Jones must think similarly of about 30 blokes on our list.

I have been told that Duggan is the player that Geelong traded up to Pick 10 for. Their strategy will be tested if Peter Wright is still there at 10 as Stephen Wells loves 2 metre Peter, however, Duggan is the one they want.

CHANGES 2014 - Retirements, Trades and Delistings
wattsjurrahdunne replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
You're absolutely correct, however, having these players still on our list shows how far away we are from challenging for the eight. I'm convinced it will be another year of bottom 2 and a reverse quinella of Dees & Saints is an absolute monty. -

wattsjurrahdunne replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Whilst a list contains Evans, McKenzie & Spencer, it will be a list capable of no more than 5 wins. Staggering that we may well be out of the Draft at Pick 40 and have those 3 spuds contracted. -
17th & 81%

Whats the prediction of how we are going to go next season

Bottom 2 most likely, bottom 4 definitely. -
Rating our draft period - so far

Would someone please tell me how many further delistings we need to make now in order to use Picks 2, 3, 40 & 53. -
Hodge, Mitchell & Lewis (3 midfielders) could've raffled the Norm Smith and your defending JPK in the GF. You're a poor judge champ!

Can't believe Kennedy would leave the Swans after not getting a kick in the Grand Final. I figure he's one that really owes them and would be driven to atone next year. I also didn't think that money was a driving influence in the Kennedy family. No, I'm not buying this one at all.
-
I'm sure that's correct but Jack Trengove is just another example of someone that has declared he loves the greatest City in the world and has said he won't leave melbourne.

Maybe I shouldn't have tried to work out the cost of the deal and just stick to passing on the info. My thinking is that with all this discussion about dispensing with Free Agency compensation that Adelaide has thought they should do the deal. I really don't care one way or the other. Petracca - 2 Brayshay - 3 & Ahern or Laverde or DeGoey with 12 was floating my boat.
