  1. Yeh it looks like a good space and only needs the racing industry to be happy. and you have a good set of binoculars like they do. Seriously not opposed just like to see the detail.
  2. Thanks for your considered comments. Haven't been to Caulfield for years and yes understand there is plenty of room. I am aware of the racing industry involvement and how this may compromise any club interes. I agree that we should not be looking at a game facility which would require more seating but more a training admin area. Corporate and retail for the proposed local community has greater potential in a greenfield site which is why I m looking at FB. No One needs to be compromised at FB or turfed out. Have you been to FB it is huge. It is true that real estate there is perhaps compromised by hungry developers but ther is also potential for joint development. It is part of the reason I have sought dlandr and MFC member knowledge. It is true that it may be a pain to get to at the moment but the development board and the demands of 80,00 population may remedy that. an appropriate entertainment facility may even help the board achieve some transport reforms. Happy to discuss on 0448110212.
  3. Thanks for your considered thoughts. Do I know what is required to mount n alternative. Not really but I hope i can recruit enough people with skills and ability to prepare a positive alternative. Although I would be pleased if the club can provide answers to my questions which show this option is not at all possible. I have asked the club what physical features they require as the only response i Have had is a total acreage site. I believe there is some flexibility and the Caulfield option will provide some greater detail as i hope will discussion with the club. I have some thoughts on the desired requirements and discussion with some members has given me an expanded idea of options and proposals. I am not sure of the public land requirements in the Port Melb/ Fishermans Bend area but the fact that 80,000 is projected population would indicate some need for public areas which may be fulfilled by an appropriate private public venture . Fishermans Bend is a greenfield site and with its own board of management it would seem an ideal place to start. there is a lot of potential and I personally do not have the clout or authority to obtain answers.. I hope there are enough people with interest to appraise an alternative site. The club entering negotiations with only one option, Particularly when this option is with the racing industry which is in the same competitive space (entertainment/sport) is both good and bad . Good that there is some mutual benefit and economy of scale , bad because the industry is competing with a club. Again I would be pleased to have the club reassure members how this will be adressed. You seem to have some experience greater than myself or others who have contacted me and I am reassured by your interest. I would be happy to discuss further with you and invite you to contact me on 0448110212. or alternatively if you can maintain your review of any options I present I would be grateful. .
  4. I could add that in my initial discussion Kate was not aware that Australia Post had a significant warehouse that ad some potential.
  5. well without diverting discussion Kate did not and could not detail who she had spoken with ( commercial in confodence0 BUtT Has never in any discussion detailed who in the FB board or in our membership identified who she has spoken with. I have sought this info in a confidential response. There does seem to be some capacity for community facilities and if the projections of population are even close better public transport will be a given .I think the projected underground include a station i the precinct can be improved with a MFC investment.
  6. I will try and restrict my reports to the training ground thread but feel inclined to intervene in any thread that might help my action. I amcertainly only trying to get the best outcome for the club.
  7. As mentioned in posts above I am not trying to stop the pursuit of Caulfield. My questions to date have been to establish what investigation of alternatives has occurred and also to provide some competitive options which may impact costing factors. Can be easily stopped if answers required. I will restrain my use of this site but feel it is a valuable tool for all members. You can ignore if you feel inclined, but also welcome comments,
  8. Thanks WCW. I have similar thoughts on best location, but will certainly consider your comments on spectator perspective, which I see as a significant factor of the development. Feel free to add comment at any time.
  9. Yes a bit glib. I did outline previously that I have seen a sports ground inside the race track at Hong Kong. It was a great facility, especially to watch the races, but the football ground was less than ideal. Also the restraints of being in a facility controlled by the racing industry will need to be adressed and overcome. I am not opposed to consideration of Caulfield just believe it is better to have a couple of horses in the race to use an appropriate metaphor. Maybe the club will detail why I am flogging a dead horse or why it should be put down, until then I am happy to try and get an alternative bet.
  10. Would anticipate meeting with this group to discuss some of the issues I raised in my submission at AGM.
  11. Thanks for the question. Answers are all still in the development stage, (similar to Caulfield). I have not yet had a response from Gary Pert to questions I raised at the AGM, which are pretty critical in establishing financial potentials. I have had expression of interest from 3 others with different skill sets, and still seeking any support from dland members. I did raise in my apparently lengthy preamble at the AGM that Joe Gutnick made the point (at the terrible Dallas Brook Hawthorn plan), that while the board at the time presented a great slide show of the proposal No one asked him. That is why I have reached out to the members for support of my perhaps folly. Again I am hoping that Gary Pert and the club may provide some input that can decrease the effort required. Dont have particular desire to establish a website, but if required and skill available will incorporate that. Havent had meetings but as I am in the country can see development of Zoom or similar as i get more information. ATM am pleased that this site has a useful online facility. I will need to have face to face meetings and probably site inspections as part of development process. So very much in favour of proceeding but do not have project timelines beyond this and the AGM presentation. I am happy to take calls at 0448110212 for further detail
  12. Theres no doubting your passion WCW and well may it continue. Im with you. It does make my thoughts on he difficulty of a training ground inside a racing track at Caulfield verses a purpose built greenfield site at Port Melboune /Fishermans Bend more meaningful. Id be happy for you to join our project group to develop a facility that meets all of our stakeholders, players, admin, sponsors, supporters and of course a new and expanding demographic.
  13. Fantastic shots 66 cant believe the club cant provide better cover. They should just let you in and use selected shots. You do display the different muscle definition of the younger players which is great but may be valuable to opposition if they get on the field. Its been an issue with me for years that we seem slightly built but i am delighted that we have so many solidly built players. In saying that Lever has and still seems to show little muscle depth and yet he I enjoy every shot you have of him . Read an interesting article in the age about how ballet dancing has improved physical performance. It aint all about muscles and strength but how you use what you've got.
  14. Totally agree Red. they are difficult decisions that are best made by those with the skill, ability and knowledge or are empowered to make an informed decision. A bit of transparency would be desirable to justify any decision though. Even a frank admission that it was just a personal opinion that may have not been the best is better than nothing, especially when accompanied with an honest, and i have learnt from this. No one is perfect and even though learnings are eternal some make the same mistake over and over hoping that something else in the situation will cause a different outcome. I guess the gambling industry is fuelled by this action.
  15. like Newton but really dont have any idea although we had a couple of kids who did same. It was seen as an unusual practice One was called Hungry but mainly coz that was the way he played sports, his name was Kevin so he later got called Bartlett on the footy field. Cant remember the name of the other kid who was also a little weird. Probably went on to head to a major corporate and is now well retired on the gold coast.
  16. You are right chaos exists. It identifying the patterns within that is the secret, thats what coaches and teams are struggling with to cope. my suggestion is rather bthan reactive we become proactive. Ive played plenty of team sports, watched more, and constantly see the unexpected (chaotic) act that often turns a game. The straight forward and uncomplicated plan is the standard to establish order. I play squash and line and length (like in tennis ) is the standard approach. I played above my ability by adding the tennis volley into the ordered squash game that was the standard of the Geoff Hunt era. Now the short rally is the norm as players attempt to disrupt the order. Its only chaos and confusion if you are not aware of it. There are patterns in the chaos. But your right its just another variable to consider., perhaps we just need to concentrate on kicking straight.
  17. Tennis shaping up as a good test for the demon. Hope we have him decked out in the red and blue and that he doesnt make a straight sets exit. unlikely as he is the best example of competitiveness since Leighton.
  18. not sure with the kozzie use. He is a significant feature of the forward line, creates space when attacking, closes space as defensive forward.. Id even be happy with him flying for the speccie in a structure that included that role being supported by the other mids around him. i Reckon weve got the list and can win flags. Go Dees
  19. I've proposed a total list concept for many years and I have also suggested a new term Churn for rotating players . i am now proposing Churn as a total team concept. We use as many players as possible all year, resting and rotating players mids forward and defence groups for packages of games dependent on opposition match up and player loading, fitness etc. This keeps the total squad at match readiness and cover for unexpected issues Injuries, suspension, etc. each group playing in the match then rotates through the geographic position (zone) replacing a player who moves out of their initial zone. All players will know the requirement of each position and will know the abilities and requirements of the person who they have replaced and will therefor provide a consistent system in what appears a chaotic movement. It is in fact the Chaos theory in practice. obviously ensuring incorrect match ups dont happen requires constant movement. Chaos theory would indicate repetitions occur in 5.3 sequences so coaching statisticians can predict and counter anomalies. A strange attractor would also be identified and utilised as required. im watching the tennis and it seems the pattern is emerging for Germany again. Ill be interested to see how Poland can counter it. At 6/1 down they should miss out by 1
  20. Seems to me Petty was a bit inconsistent with his slight frame injured and he got pushed around bit when originally in defence. He became a bit stronger and was just developing as a solid addition to the defence, then moved to forward as an almost emergency option. He flourished and added some accuracy to the forward line and was a great fixture when our options were limited. He is now a very valuable component of any team, of course this does make him more attractive to Adelaide. They seem prepared to pay a premium for him. I would be saying to him this season is significant for him but more importantly the club and the team. We dont want to lose him and see him as a valuable long term Demon premiership player. But his value will be determined by his performance. If we win the flag this year and he contributes to that he will be even more attractive to Adelaide and will be able to command a healthy salary. We would then consider if we continue our progress to further flags with or without him. His ($$) value would be at maximum. If he plays poorly and doesnt contribute his value ($$$) would decrease and we would likely retain him to realise his full potential. I see his season as a great portent of the teams season. This discussion should be held privately and then transparently to his teammates, who would be given a similar message, Value is based on success, you will be given every opportunity for success at this club. Other clubs (Adelaide) will know that we value our players and they will have to make premium offers to entice them away from us.
  21. Dont know why the club dont reach out to Dland and tap into the expertise and experience in developing and maintaining this site. Im a tech luddite but am constantly impressed with the capabilities of Dland. Thanks to all operators, moderators and contributors. Hope you all have an enjoyable festive season and we all have a great new year.
  22. that was the reason for my questions at the AGM. I am prepared to undertake a feasibility study as I think it is worthwhile having some alternatives for comparison and competition. But it is important to compare like with like. As Kate has said FB may be too expensive to obtain the required land space but alternatively as pointed out by others Caulfield might well be a cheaper option with limited investment return.
  23. I did apologise at the time for the length of my 7 paragraph preamble, and do so again if you found it so unreasonable. I felt and still feel it was necessary to put my question into some context in a structured fashion. I did not hear any groans and indeed was encouraged by the unsolicited moans of support and agreement with most of my comments from those around (closer to)me. Even Gary Pert who agreed to take my full submission for consideration was nodding in agreement at many of the points. Kate did answer as expected to my first question which merely, reprised my comment about member involvement. Kate reiterated that she had spoken to everyone and indeed has asked members at last years AGM to make suggestions which I have now done. I had spoken with Kate about Fishermans Bend Port Melbourne and she had been unaware of the Australia Post warehouse which I had heard rumours of. She did enlighten me about some of the FB developers and some of the companies that were involved in the speculative land purchasing that had occurred under both Liberal government and Labor governments. She also stated that these developers had put apparently unreasonable cost barriers in the way of club options. My question was "has the club sought from its stakeholders, members, sponsors and supporters any involvement or interests in the Fishermans Bend site" While I do not deny any of Kates comments I hardly think asking for any suggestions, adresses my specific question. As a member, I have never seen the club or Kate herself ask about fishermans Bend or Caulfield for that matter. I am also cognisant of confidentiality and conflict issues and my follow up questions were related to notice of who had been approached. I am happy to provide the questions to any one who asks but do not want to unnecessarily burden you further with unwanted information. I did have as my final question acknowledgement of the uncertainty of any feasibility study and did suggest to Gary Pert that to have an alternative proposal may provide some negotiating leveraging strategy. While not enthusiastically embracing my comments he did again, with a nod, accept my offering. Only time will tell of the developments. I note that it is reported today that Port Melbourne have moved on the Australia Post site and i suspect that other opportunities may be lost. I support the club and will continue to do so. If the feasibility study shows economic and organisational suitability, I will be delighted. But as was pointed out to me, any development in the existing market of scarce infrastructure resources, with costs at maximum is perhaps unwise. Again I will be pleased to adress that in my feasibility study.
  24. Kate said at the AGM that she had spoken to everyone . Pert said at the AGM that they had looked at every option. I may be too late
  25. Yes there is a strong dependence on the benevolence of the racing industry which has always been so generous in redistributing wealth. But seriously If Caulfield becomes a greenfield site for development of a training and administration facility it would be an extremely attractive investment. I think however that there will be many restraints due to the requirements of the racing facility. Await the outcomes of the feasibility report.
