Nicholson is an awareness and decision making error, McKenzie, the one I saw was a lack of intensity or finess with the ball, he relaxed. Other times like the Dawes one early in the game are lack of movement down the ground, we have some players who don't understand or read football very well. Some will say well they don't know Dawes game yet, I say rubbish, he's a right footer who always looks to give off so from where he takes the ball he will move in an arc around on to his right. Make position for him , he uses the ball pretty well.

He is a totally different player, yes he has a good size but that's where the similarity ends. Silvia is an explosive burst player but with no awareness and wastes a lot of ball. Taggert is a much more composed player with good awareness and he uses the ball well.

About time Davey was played up the ground a bit more today. We need him hitting up forward targets.
-
Why in the hell is he playing a sacrificial role, he needs to develop his game. You don't pick someone at 2 and play them as a defensive forward. No wonder he is struggling.
-
One of the few who can use it when he gets it though, a couple of nice hit ups.

Rodney?

...but would be worth it to see someone smack Jackson, sorry I'm from the old school were that's what you did when someone wanted to stick there nose in.

5 Years Says Neeld - Who is going to cop that?

One week at a time.....so boring yet so successful. He let the team do the talking with their actions and what a team they were. -
5 Years Says Neeld - Who is going to cop that?

...and funnily enough it was repeated by Buckley a few weeks later. Must be a Collingwood thing. -
I think you may well be right here.

Good assessment 'Master'. I don't think we are in any position to be critical of how the dogs are handling their list and as you point out they have a core of senior players to help in developing the younger ones coming through.

I can't remember ever saying anything about development apart from your comment about Pederson needing some time to develop. If this is the reasoning for Taggert playing forward then that is good, I just hope they leave him in the senior VFL team because he does fall in and out of the game in that position. If you check through my posts over the last year and a bit you will find I am a big supporter of Taggert, good size, good kick and strong mark. When played in the midfield he picks up a lot of ball.

Stringer is the one though 'Sat', along with McRae they have picked up a couple of good ones there. I think they have a bit more time to rebuild than us as they are only going through it for the first time, we are on our second. That's why the spotlight is on us and not them.

Hopefully we can get it right this time.

Good article but you would expect the comments from any of those close to him. I wonder if there advise is different behind closed doors.

Maybe Neeld didn't take on board RDB's art of coaching. Keep the players who don't like you away from the one's who are undecided or maybe he took it too literally. In any group your will always have the ones who like you and the ones who don't, the undecideds are the tricky group and some of the likes are not always as they seem. In fact some you think don't like you are not all they seem either.

I think they might have made a mockery of Kingy's fascinating analysis. They started winning the clearances and got back on top. Let's see what happens from here.
-
I wish I was as sure, but he is getting into the contests now. Watching him at training pre season he was very timid when confronted with a contest, this didn't seem to be the case today so I would say he is developing pretty well which is a good sign.

Stringer, McRae, Libba, Wallace, Dalhaus. They have some good young kids coming through and some good senior players to teach them.

He got a bit of ball in the 2nd half, played down back and is probably a better bet there than forward....but. I think probably a good VFL level player. Out of that side today as someone posted earlier you would think Hogan and Taggert could step up and I would add Blease but he made a lot of mistakes today.
-
Look the weight thing, well a couple of the all time greats in our own Robbie Flower and Gary Wilson from the roys weighed in at around 69kg when they were playing good footy in a pretty tough VFL comp and there's a kid playing at Port that doesn't look to big. Having said that I think you are right that Barry looks like he has already put on some weight and he did get involved in the contested ball which he needs to do.

Pretty good summary there 'Dave', I would add that Spencer was beaten convincingly at the centre bounces giving Box Hill first use of the ball. Taggert takes a good strong mark and kicks well but as you say he needs to get more of the ball. I would rather see him in the middle than Rodan to see what he can do. He needs some responsibility otherwise he seems to just drift through the game. Tackling as a whole very average and kicking to position also very average, the MFC skill set seems to be rubbing off.
-
By the way, anyone who thinks David will give up his media gig for this one has got rocks in their head.
-
Viney is out this week and Rodan hasn't come in so I'm not sure if it was a good trade or this is the reason we got him.I think we picked up to many of these fringe players and got rid of some of our last years fringe players like Matt Bate. I'm not sure we have gained anything.

...no, the geish will get on with Kb and start talking rubbish again then we'll all forget it and move on.
