  1. I think you might be jumping the gun on this 'Jack'. It looks like it was part of the deal to get the Essendon club, players and officials to be fully involved in the investigation. It doesn't exonerate them from guilt or the consequences of guilt, they may (may) be looked at in a better light for assisting the inquiry but nothing is guaranteed. The NRL have themselves to blame by "going the biff" with ASADA and making things difficult. Only time will tell whether the AFL, NRL or neither approach is the right one.
  2. Maybe, but it also maybe a club thing.
  3. Not sure, would need to know what else was available but I would probably look at it this way. He will be 28 by next season, he's apparently a good guy who likes a to have a good time with his mates but is an unfulfilled talent. Sound like someone we know? I think we just hold on to Col, I'm not sure Bernie is going to add a lot to the mix now.
  4. See here's the problem, a lot of people want us if we get a PP to trade it away on a good established mid and they are not up for trade. It's players who fall outside that category like Bernie that would be traded for a first round because it is above the odds. Sloane, Griffin and the like will not be on the table, some nqr's and pensioners will be and they are not worth top picks. I think we use our higher draft picks on best available talent and then look at what we can find from there with trades and free agency.
  5. Lets see if they'll trade Couch or Magner for him.
  6. I reckon he can play but he hasn't been consistent enough and part of this I think is because he is being played out of position. Davis, who 'Dockett 32' has been pushing for does deserve a run. I know his kicking and decision making is not the best but he is not on his own there, he does attack the contest and he is a consistent performer at Casey.
  7. You can see when Geelong go off the boil, it's in their defence. They seem to lose interest and start making mistakes, this started to happen in the 3rd q with Harry Taylor in particular. I thought if Adelaide started to get results from their good play all day then Geelong could go down. Was it last weeks game? I doubt it, we couldn't apply enough pressure for it to be a hard day at the office for them.
  8. He deserves a game, certainly been consistent over the last couple of seasons.
  9. Pretty good seeing as he's only in his 2nd season.
  10. Agree with the games, GWS is the only serious chance out of those 3 games. Not so sure about the order of coaches but think they are all good options, personally would have Eade ahead of Williams.
  11. Aish is much better with ball in hands than Cotchin, if he can get as much ball then he will be a champ.
  12. Why?
  13. 'Redleg', I think one of Jimmy's biggest problems which could also be an asset long term is the expectation he places on himself. He is putting a lot of pressure on himself at the moment and needs to settle into the game a bit more. Game time will help.
  14. He is still suffering the effects of oesteitis, think Luke Ball at St Kilda and you see the same with Trenners. When he gets through this he will get more power into his game like Ball has at Collingwood. He is doing a great job in the circumstances but is labouring through the game.
  15. I like that Watts has had a run in the ruck over the last few weeks. It's a good move from Craig and really gets him into contested situations where he has to use his body against bigger and stronger opponents, particularly at boundary throw ins. Good for development.
  16. Looks very similar to Luke Ball in his last couple of seasons at the Saints, suffering a similar injury I would think. Get it right and he gets the power back in his game, he's working hard but nothing is coming easy for him at the moment.
  17. That's the way I see it.
  18. This is the stuff that is going to be interesting as the year goes on and these kids filter back into the local comps.
  19. I think he's more than just a utility but will leave it to the recruiting guys to sort out. Last year Vlustuin played off half back in the champs and looks set to be a half decent mid. If we have any Demonlanders in Adelaide may be they can report on his progress.
  20. Difference is Taggert has the body and can play 'old dee'. Just needs the opportunity, Neeld had him playing as a forward. He's a mid.
  21. ...and Williams really left Port in good shape. I guess Craig did leave Adelaide in good shape so he should be the front runner with this logic. One thing for certain is that it will be a senior coach and not a current assistant. Also any of the current assistants looking to step up to a senior job in the now to distant future would see Melbourne as a bad career move and that's fair enough. We will need to pick up some just out of the game just starting their apprenticeship or career assistants.
  22. We won't because they won't. There are no tradeable A graders on the market that I can see, of course that could change. I wouldn't be trading a first round pick for a pensioner. Sorry Brad...
  23. For me it would be Scharenberg and Aish if we get the extra pick.
  24. Taggert is a very good footballer but needs to be played in the midfield. He is being waisted at the moment but has come off a bad injury last year.
