  1. Funny you should mention this. I was just thinking last night that these guys Trengove, Toumpas and Aish have all been in top SANFL clubs, premiers or runners up. The load is carried across the team as 'rpfc' says. Maybe more weight should be placed on not premiership players but players who perform well with lesser clubs.
  2. I'm still undecided about Dawes 'P_Man', he really needs to get more involved in the game and not just with his voice.
  3. The idea is ok but in principle, it sounds good. Let's get some good mids into the club and trade some picks for them. The practice is a whole different thing...who are these mids that we can get? and don't name Griffen, Dangerfield, Fyfe etc. these type of players are not available. We could get nqr's or pensioners, neither type are worth a high pick.
  4. 'Ben', I don't like what's happening to the game at the moment and I don't get any pleasure from the Essendon situation. However I'm not sure I can be so understanding of Evans position, I think he has had a blind faith in the coach who has let him down badly and that's the best I can say for him. I feel angry about the lies that have been told throughout this whole saga starting from the sham of a press conference back in February and I think a lot of damage has been done to the game as a whole. Evans played his part in this and had to step down, Hird has to go next and should have been the first out the door.
  5. Whilst I understand your point about the midfield and its impact 'Adam', the list has holes all over the ground. We only have 3 players I would say are AFL standard at the moment, Jones, Frawley and Garland and you could add an injured Clark to the list. There are some promising younger players and a first year player in Terlich who shows a bit but there are so many more who are either not performing or just not up to the level.
  6. Yeah, and the doggies will be just waiting for our call. We give them pick 2, they use it to pick up a potential star midfielder if they get the pick right and we get a guaranteed 'A' grader. That will happen...not. We need to get our picks right now, get on with it then look at free agents to top up if needed. It's not a quick fix, the club has been totally screwed by the previous admin.
  7. That's the question the reverse is which club would give up a quality mid for a future mid that may or may not reach the same level. The answer is no club will, on offer will be fringe players only. This is why the call to trade pick 2 for a quality mid is unrealistic, it's just not going to happen. If we had Boyd then it would be a different story but I wouldn't trade him, I would trade others.
  8. Pretty good observation 'rpfc' and it makes judging the list so much harder but it looks like we a carrying a lot of deadwood.
  9. Yep, we are struggling old son and that is an understatement.
  10. I agree with what you have on the table for Boyd but if we get the pick I would keep him and trade off a couple of our others.
  11. ...not sure about that 'Young Dee', he's had 3 good games now. He does have the size and class to play AFL, I would rather see him than putting up the usual suspects who have let us down in the past. Tynan is another who should be looked at, he will give everything he has, a gutsy kid that one.
  12. The club was 'wyl', now it is in a holding pattern until new appointments can be made. Thought we might get through the rest of the year with some reasonable efforts but it's not going to happen. Again the most important part of our year will be September/October for the wrong reasons, new board, new coach, FD boss and list changes.
  13. Want to see Taggert this week, it's about time for him now.
  14. I would take Boyd then trade on 1 or 2 of our other forwards. He won't need a lot of development time, similar to Hogan he will produce results that would be superior to what we have now in his first year. Frawley, Garland and Jones would be just about the only non tradeables we have apart from the kids like Viney in their first year or two. All bets are off with everyone else.
  15. I fully understand where you were coming from 'P_Man' and why, but it's hard to watch a performance like the game today and see where the improvement is coming from without assistance. Even with assistance its going to be a hard journey. I must admit I didn't think the list was this bad either, 'old dee' was on the money there.
  16. Time for Taggert to have a run.
  17. Shows great discipline that you haven't already 'Robbie', maybe the players could take something out of your book.
  18. Some of this stuff has been coached out of the players. Toumpas kicked these goals in the SANFL and didn't think twice about it.

    GAME DAY

I don't know how many times I've seen Pedersen just jogging around in defence with no urgency at all. Good VFL player, leave him there.
  20. I guess that's why he played his best game for us when we were well on top of Geelong??? Look it is a long way to go for him, we all know that. Give him some time to prove himself or not whatever the case will be, Ricciuto reckons he will be a gun and that's enough for me at the moment.
  21. I understand what you are saying but it didn't stop him racking up the possies when played there in the development side. I just hope he is seen as a long term player and is kept on the list so we can see the player you are talking about next year.
  22. I think the Neitz comparison is not a bad one but Essendon do have the luxury of playing Hurley back now, we didn't with Neitz. I think both of them were/are better defenders. Neitz may have been one of the great CHB's but unfortunately we will never know.
  23. Yep, you could be right with this. I forgot about McDonald, Frawley may well go to Thomas, I'm not sure any of the others will have the footy smarts to go with him.
  24. Frawley has to take the best, in this case Petrie. We don't have the luxury to use Frawley as an attacking back and Pederson would get taken apart by Petrie. Davis would have been a good match for either Tarrant or Black but now Pederson will get one and Dunn the other.
  25. ...and there's part of the problem. They are taking the midfield places where Taggert should be played, at the moment he is sitting at half forward with a very occasional run as a mid. If Couch and Magner are not in serious contention for a senior berth then Taggert should be played there but maybe this is a problem of not having a stand alone team in the VFL.
