Rodan listed as 187cms. I thought him to be much smaller like 177cms. It must be a mistake. The list looks good. More balanced with guys who have proven themselves at AFL level to developing players. Gone are the VFL champions but AFL nobody;s

Time to move on D'Landers. Leave the poor guy alone. Good Luck Cale

Training - Monday 29th October, 2012
Demonsterative replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I thought Frawley was given an extended holiday. Thats good if this is true and he was at training today. -
Agree. The club had taken full advantage of the Scully concessions. Without these concessions we would have Pick 3 and pick 26 (Viney). We now have pick 4 and Viney with Dawes, Barry and Hogan being the compensation for Scully. At this stage I would have traded Scully for Dawes to the Pies A big win IMO

Nudge reported Simpkon and Burbury (Geelong rookies) were highly rated by the club. I'm not sure what their situation is like at the Cats, but if they are 2nd year rookies they could request to be delisted or not accept a contract and go to the PSD if the club guarentees to pick them up.

Martin maybe an academic, but in football terms he is in remedial class. Morton showed a huge amount of effort last pre season when he hired himself a personal trainer. He had a few good games where he stood out with his run and spread, but, went backwards once again. He didn't gain the much needed strength that Neeld needs to suit his game plan

Couch is not up to AFL standard. If he is the yard stick in regards to fringe/Casey player then the club should have gone harder for inside midfielders. In racing terms he is a 'plodder' without the pace to get near the front.
-
The Herald Sun is reporting that the Dees will be paying part of Mortons salary. Surely he was on little money given his output

I'm not so sure that Gys is well suited to the way the game is going. His endurance is poor and with the new interchange substitute rules, endurance has become key. Yes he can build a motor, but he will be competing with other midfields that have players who have a more natural ability to cover ground. Getting to contest after contest will be a struggle for even if he starts to train harder and builds a motor. I like his ability to play in close, but will he ever be able to out run a tagger if he becomes a top line midfielder. I doubt it

I get the feeling that if the Swans traded Pederson, Dawes and Rodan into their club, they would be applauded for their moneyball decisions

Other than Rivers and Moloney (not this year), not one player leaving the club had an impact on the clubs performances. I'm one that gets excited with some players potential, but Im now sick of potential not being lived up to. We lost some experience, but added experienced players with good attitude. The development model the club is under going has been met. All the reports of who the club was trying to add to the list was reached by the club. In the end, the deadwood was released. I dont believe the club sold off Gys, Martin and Morton for nothing. I believe the club tried to get some value for these 3 guys but when other clubs were not dumb enough to take the bait. The club gave them away. I'm happy with the direction of the club, but reserve judgment until the results come

I think the club is doing well. This year we blooded a very good KPB prospect in McDonald. We will draft 2 very good midfielders in Viney and pick 4, and next year we will blood a very good KPF prospect in Hogan. With the training facilities and development coaches in place I have more faith in the club to do the right thing. Lets face it, we have traded 'fluff' fringe players today with players who could become good contributers or at worst fringe players themselves but with much better professional attitudes off field. We have also lost some experience via FA, retrirements and off field issues. The way I see it is Brynes replaces Green Dawes replaces Jurrah Pederson replaces Rivers Rodan replaces Moloney Gys, and Morton did not have an impact on the team at any stage for the last 2 to 3 years so we cant go backwards as a result

OP = Origanal Post. Nudge updated his OP days ago. Before Gumby signing on for extra year with the Bomberrs -
The Demon curse on the Bombers continues. Well Done guys. A gutsy effort and you did the MFC proud. Now the big question is, was there any talent worthy of a late draft pick playing today?
-
If we get a second round pick does that mean a pick after 26? I think he was dratfed at 26?? Anyways Jared. A fine career at the MFC. You sometimes batted above your weight against the gorilla's, as well as being found out against the gorilla's too. I loved your first year at the club, you stood up when the club needed you at CHB A fine player and I hope the Cats give you some success

Davey I know thats three, if Dunn is close, does that mean a player starting with the letter D?

Magner or Dawes Actually - I hate surprises - fess up ;-)

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRIS DAWES

I hope its true!!! But, this does not leave many draft picks for the Dees come draft time. pick 4, a third or fifth round pick and fifth round pick. How does Pederson fit into this? Will the club trade players out? Still i'm happy with this -

I would have thought the Filth needed to lift some salary cap pressure. I doubt they could get a Clinton Young if they keep Dawes. -
Who do you want us to draft at Pick 4?

A very Smart move from the Dees. A 24 yr old who is a good footballer but not a champion. he is a KPF who will be hiting his straps and in his prime. In an age group that the club needs. He will compliment Mitch and help the development of Hogan. I just hope we get back pick 39 as a result -

If Nudge is correct. Pick 39 will come our way from the Saints or Pies with the Dawes trade. Its a second round pick that could be on traded for Pederson -

I'm warming to the recruitment of Dawes. He straightens up our structure. He takes the heat of Mitch. Mitch does not have to contest every forward thrust and reduces the risk of injury (Mitch is injury prone). Hogan also gets to learn off two big forwards and has the luxury of coming in as the 3rd tall (when he is ready) to learn his craft. I'm starting to think Dawes is an important recruit for the clubs furture.
