Terlich provides run, speed and carry out of the backline as a HBF. Some thing the list lacks. I dont see Garland and Dunn offering the run and carry the list needs I have no idea if Terlich will make it, but his speed is an assett

Gysberts up side is high. He is a good user of the ball inside. He reads the play well and gets alot of the ball (he averages around 20 disposals at AFL level). His disposal is not as bad as some make out. He may not be an elite kicker of the ball but his kicking is of a good standard (IMO). He creates plays well by having good vision in tight releasing players on the outside. He was recruited for his creativity and ball use as an inside midfielder. His down side is not good. Work rate, endurance and body size. He has a poor motor and is skinny and is easily pushed off the ball. If he aint prepared to work hard to build his endurance and strength, then the club made the right decision. Imagine if he did have a good motor and strength. He would be an excellent player who'd get to more contests and get alot more of the ball.

I like the nick name 'files', but that would be completely wrong. As is my sense of humour... -
Why is methadone much worse? This is a comment from some-one who does not know the methodology behind methadone. Methadone is a synthetic form of opiate. It has a much longer half life than heroin. Heroin has a half life of 8 hours. This requires a heroin users to use heroin 3 to 4 times a day in order to function. As a result, users will be unemployed unable to hold a job and function, ultimately heroin users will resort to crime to feed a habit. Methadone has a half life of 24 hours and only requires an addict to use once a day. Therefore they can work and function on a daily basis. They attend a pharmacy each day to get their medication. Its a program designed not to get indivifuals off their face or high. This is a simplistic explanation WYL, I thought you would have understood this. Particulary considering you have worked in the field and had a girlfriend who was an addict. Somehow I'm sure this aint true, but something you have claimed in the past!!

Dont you mean he contributed to the 'dubious MFC culture'? Times have changed!!!

Spencer's strength and running ability says to me he is an athlete. His kicking is a problem, turn overs cost goals and games. He is certainly not a natural footballer. Pyke from the Swans kicks better than Spencer and he did not grow up with the game.

C'mon Nasher/Demonland. Its just not the same without the 100 odd pages and 100,000 looks into this once great thread!

Thankyou to all. Reading these reports feels like winning a game. Its sad that this time of year is my favourite come the last many seasons. Every player is a champ, and trains like one. Every recruit is an Ablett in waiting. GO DEES -
Big kids with massive incomes are at more risk as they can pay for their addictions. It is a massive issue. One life ruined is massive.

Care factor is zero now he has left. I still have a bad taste in my mouth when Rude Boy and Maguire went behind the clubs back to make a head line. Un-written rule, speak to the club when a media request happens. Despite the cultural issues, this was the result of a maverick playing to the beat of his own drum. AFL is a team game

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DEAN KENT
Demonsterative replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Agree, some say he was unlucky not to be picked for the WA under 18 side. If he was picked and displayed some kinda form he may have gone a lot higher. He has a great build for the game and likes to take the game on (lkg at his highlights). He has alot more upside as Toumpas and Viney are expected to play at the elite level, while Kent could be the icing on the cake with 3 top/good midfielders coming out of this draft. As has been said, I have a good feeling about this guy too -
I'd say that Fitzpatrick will be primarily developed as a KPF. That leaves 3 injury prone ruckman. Jamar,Spencer and Gawn. Like some I do not see the value in Spencer. He is an athlete, not a footballer.

The end of 'bruise free' football at the MFC
Demonsterative replied to Ron Burgundy's topic in Melbourne Demons
Great post Grimesyisgod. We can only hope and have faith. I worry the club goes in too many directions and has to over compensate with change due to previous Admins/Footy Depts seemingly radical approach in their own change from previous years. -
The end of 'bruise free' football at the MFC
Demonsterative replied to Ron Burgundy's topic in Melbourne Demons
The Bailey years vs the Neeld year is a non argument. Different coaches with different game plans/philosophies. Yet both (coaches) have yet, or did not make a mark on the game consistently. People tend to think that a Bio with older -players with height to weight ratio is enough to get rid of the tag of Bruise Free football. Intent and the way they hunt the ball is more important than a Bio. The ability to win the ball and/or use the ball with precision hurts more than a bump without the ball, and the club has yet to do either consistently for a long time under any coach. -
No mention of our most recent past club champion who wore No 22 in the article. What was his name???

Jimmy smiling and loving every minute of being traded to us again. He is my new favourite player -

Has there been a change in this pre seasons focus, or an added focus with repeat sprints rjay? or is the same as last season? The club has talked about adding layers to what was learnt last season, I'm hoping to get feedback from anyone who knows. -
Whats extreme about the club being on a path that will reach 'Elite' fitness. Jones was a fitness freak before arriving to the club. Add to that many years of pre seasons of course he had the fitness level when Misson got to the club. Trengove is still young and is working towards an elite level. He has natural endurance and pace and I believe Misson is working on a path to Elite fitness and pace with Trengove, McKenzie (who has yet to complete a pre-season until this year) and Grimes etc. Grimes injuries are well documented. You say you are patient, but have little confidence in our midfield when Misson has had 12 months, add to that 3 weeks to get the players up to speed. It will take longer and I believe the club when they say they have been on a high training load throughout the season. We were slow last season as a result. I ve read too much crap (now including from you). When Bailey was at the helm we were considered are fast and dynamic team. Do you honestly believe that our pace somehow got lost now Morton (known for his endurance), Cook and Gysberts has left the club. I'll add Scully to that too. He was an endurance player. I can only assume that you are cant look past 2012. Geez, Frawley is a very fast KPP. People tend to forget that both Frawley and Garland have the pace to shut down small to medium forwards. I'm hopeful

We need more than Watts playing this role (if infact he plays this role). Why not have two wingman with speed, ball winning ability, good run and spread delivering forward. In fact lets take it further and ask for the flankers and midfielders to have this ability too. FWIW I think Trengove can play a good balance of both inside and outside play. He was under alot of off field work load in 2012 that hindered his effect on field. Misson will program a more rounded training regime allowing him to play on a wing and centre square. Training seemed to focus on building a base during the 2011/2012 period, now its time to build pace to add to the base. I believe Jones had the base prior to Misson coming on board therefore he excelled as a midfielder. Other players like Trengove, Grimes, McKenzie etc will excel in 2102 as a result too. Watts will benefit too

Do you have the link AJ13?

Getting back to training. It seems the club is focusing on repeat runs/sprints this pre-season. I hope Mission is working on our speed now that a base (endurance) has been acheived by the players completing a lengthy training period that included players training hard throughout the 2012 season. I went to one training session last season and the focus seemed to be endurance only. BH can you confirm this as you have been to alot of sessions? -
Fan may have dropped a bomb shell, but many others caught it, ran with it, and added fuel to the fire. Like Fan, I have not read all of this thread but I find it amazing how many people fall into the same pattern of behaviour. Some will only add to a discussion on DL when they have a political agenda to push (all because they love football politics), now watch these people go back into the wood work until the next mine field opens up. Whilst others have a habit of jumping into a discussion to off load their anger whilst disguising it as debate. Watch these people troll across all threads waiting to pounce. The best defense to such people is to ignore them and move along
