  1. If valenti wins the liston back to back and cant get redrafted this bloke will struggle
  2. my housemates are richmond fans and we used to fly down from the gc to go to the games and it was a bit of a big deal, cartons on the line not to mention the bragging rights and the accompanied belief that we would win a flag first...this year they haven't even given me any crap about the state of affairs and that is so much worse lost interest in this season in rnd 5 after the st kilda game, tried to watch the port game twice and i keep turning it off or changing browser windows bring on next year, or maybe the year after or...bring on the mythical "one day"
  3. where do we get the talent from then if not the draft? still haven't seen gysberts play this year, or evans. troy davis is capable to take over grimes' defensive duties to give him more time in the middle. would like to see tapscott shed a couple of kg and get the endurance to be an inside mid. we have no idea how good taggert could be but tynan looks like he could be a goer given the chance and if he can stop getting concussed.

  5. watts is getting better mcdonald is looking like a 10year defender jones is starting to live up to his 3rd placing as nab rising star behind selwood and pendlebry nicholson looks like he's starting to balance his game out the last month has been amongst the most consistant that sylvia has produced for a long time the thing that worries me is that in 2010 we were such a fast team...i'll always remember when first frawley and then watts ran down lewis jetta on the mcg wing as melbourne went on to beat sydney by 12+ goals. where has our speed gone? with the exception of blease and nicholson our players all seem sluggish...hoping his is just an adjustment from fast twitch to slow twitch in the aid of endurance, but our speed was a massive weapon that we seem to have lost
  6. what a joke this thread is...bailey got 4 years of running the place, and neeld gets 18months to retrain a bunch of raw kids into a silky skilled unit? the game plan doesn't match the players at the moment because the players are simply not good enough to execute the skills necessary. when was the last time rohan bail was able to hit a moving target while on the run? neeld is playing with another blokes list, with the exception of mitch clark ( a resounding success until injured), josh tynan (by all reports ticking all boxes available) and the rookies who have handled themselves honourably considering they are in over their heads. i'm going to hold off judgement until i see who he culls off the list, the recruiting policy during trade week/draft and what he can get the boys to produce after their 2nd real preseason after years of training composing of kick to kick. i agree this year has been awful, but at least the boys seem be going harder at the ball in the last couple of months. the biggest challenge the team faces is getting bigger...making our skinny lads into solid men will take pre-seasons and experience and essendon is a perfect example of what happens when you rush the process. there is no point in having super fit athletes if they are going to break down every 4weeks. bailey got 4 years, how bout we give neeld at least 1 before knocking up a gallows
  7. dogs wanted bate last year...their forward line certainly hasn't gotten any stronger
  8. Anybody have any updates as to how the actual trial is proceding? cant imagine it will take too long
  9. maybe throw one of bennell, jetta or bate in with the picks we could end up trading dunn to dogs for a 2nd rnd pick, they seem desperate for someone up forward tho i know its overs...maybe they'll still want bate if we give them dunn as well Joel mac and 4th rnd to carlton for ellard...small fwd can play mid and doesnt get much chance at carl
  10. When will troy davis get a chance... and what has evans done wrong?
  11. Type 'big afl bumps' into YouTube, find the one that's 5.27mins and see the hit at 17seconds... Collingwood player launches through the front of, I think it is jezza...crazy deja vu Never said I condoned it, only that it was a lot more commonplace and while not necessarily accepted it was certainly tolerated as part of the game. *i would have embedded the vid but using an iPad **attempt to link: youtube.com/watch?v=-BOzQwj4fSE
  12. Willing to admit that I may have gotten carried away saying that he was skinnier than Morton, but I stand by the rest No doubt the kid was probably a very good jnr but I saw that blonde mop 2-3metres off every pack, trailing half a dozen paces behind every contest and consistently shirking the hard ball. In my circle he was dubbed 'the poodle' and it was not a term of endearment
  13. I disagree with the haters, Jodie mckenzie will be inthe red and blue for a long time to come. I fully agree that his kicking is bad, bordering on atrocious but that is not the telling statistic that it once was. With the teams new gameplan which is heavily reliant on contested footy we not necessarily need 22elite kicks (though it would be nice) I could see him, for the next 7-10 years getting to the bottom of the pack and getting the handball to our outside runners who would be the elite kicks. He is never going to be our pendleberry but he could be our Luke ball
  14. * forgive spelling mistakes with names, still getting used to the bloody auto correct on iPad
  15. Aww shux you're making me blush... No point saying we can trade Dunn bate and spencer to collingwood for Wellington and beams We do have a good history with Carlton trades, Brock McLean for jordan gysberts was mutually beneficial (now that McLean has played a couple of good games) They might be interested in a pick 30something and a Morton/ stef martin deal Would hate to see Martin go but with the emergence of fitzy and gawn as genuine heirs to jamar and Clark able to do the secondary ruck role I can see him getting starved of opportunities in coming years and think that this year has taught Carlton a valuable lesson in needing depth of mobile big men. Kreuzer will go back to their genuine number 1 ruck and hampson and warlock are to one dimensional
  16. Are caddy or prestia really what we need? Seems like we have plenty of one speeded inside/ semi inside midfielders and I think we could be better served drafting these types rather than settling for what other clubs would be willing to let go, just look at the swans 2009 draft: Pick 6 Gary Rohan Pick 14 Lewis jetta Pick 55 Trent Dennis-lane Fair enough Rohan did his ankle but look at what an injection of speed has done to the team we smashed by something like 14goals

    Ricky Petterd

Ditto ditto... Give the kid a full season in a forward line with Clark, jurrah, Howe and a decent watts and watch him kick 50. He was a serviceable FF and could be a massive weapon against most teams 3rd or 4th defender
  18. Ellard, Stevens and Byrnes are prob the most 'gettable' that would fill our need for speedy outside types. As much as boak and beams would be top of the wish list I think that they'll remain just that
  19. * Love that iPad auto correct has given viney the nickname vineyard already
  20. Would love the dees to play hardball and have vineyard not nominate this year, play at Casey and train with our main group and then sign on for 2014 where we use our first round pick ( 7-10ish ) to pick him up as father son. That way gas can have Whitfield, suns can have Grundy and we can have wines and stringer at 4/5. Somewhat convoluted however it would tick a lot of boxes and more importantly tick off sheedy who continues to carry a grudge because we appointed bailey ahead of him
  21. We've got a bevy of up and coming inside mids, what we need are some genuine speedster outside mids because bail as our main outside runner won't work long term. Will be very serviceable as a Brock McLean replacement but we still need a Murphy/ Simpson. Whichever of the 3 best meets this requirement I'd say
  22. Fair points but I think the dees need to retain some of our old masters rather than just a hand shake, gold watch and shown the door. Saw woewoedin in the coaches box for brissy, why not get our last brownlow winner talking shop with our young boys. Why not have rob grinter wandering around at training giving watts and Morton a rev up about effort Rob flower still loves the club, but does he have any tangible affiliation beyond acknowledgment and accolades? Culture gets talked about a lot nowadays and unfortunately from right back to the norm smith days it seems that the mfc doesn't realize that a footy club is more than just a sum of its parts
  23. How times have changed... 80's early 90's that's a classic example of a well executed shirt front, now he'll go for 4weeks
  24. Living on the gold coast I went to most suns home games and I would hesitate to give this kid a rookie contract... Think Cale Morton crossed with uninterested trav jonstone but shorter, skinnier and less ticker but with a nicely manicured perm
