Can we trade our 2012 first round draft pick in October of next year and use what will then be our first pick (in round 2) for Viney? Can we be a little sneaky like this?

I agree, but if Caddy wants to leave GC will have to eventually help facilitate that move or potentially lose him for nothing. Then two picks up the sleeve become more valuable than jack shite. Ok, obviously they just want to squeeze the last year out of him and then resign to losing him next year, whilst still getting high bids as no one will let him go to the open market. Sneaky. Essendon got played. What would a mediation process do if they already knocked their offer on the head. Waste time. LOL

GC wanted him and Caddy wanted out.. why couldn't we fashion a deal to make all happy? Are there going to be better prospects we can spend our compo picks on? We could have been the biggest winners this trade period if we landed Clark and Caddy. If we got 39 for Bate that may have also been a good outcome, although time will tell on that one. At least we still have a pair of aces up our sleeve..

Well at least we've had a year of experience with $ully.

We traded Warnock to them, so obviously they wanted him... why couldn't we include Warnock in a deal to get Caddy? If the mediation process ate all our time, why couldn't we present a deal when the Warnock deal was made? Seems odd.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY
Jesse Christ replied to einstein251's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yep, and like all things in life there are no guarantees. And just because you don't have faith doesn't mean your pessimism is vindicated a few years down the track. There are no obvious holes in Cook for you to base your fears on. Let it go and get behind the fella! -
Agree. Someone suggested compo + Warnock + Spencer. That should do. Hell, I'd throw both compo picks and Warnock. A Caddy/Viney combo in the midfield would be damaging. It's worth throwing all Scully picks at. I'm confident we can land this man after landing Clark. If we do this we are really going places!

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY

Because for the ordinary girl to be a stunner all she has to do is take off her glasses and let her hair down. Or in Cook's case get a bit more size about him. Because if you knew anything about Cook it would be that the only thing he lacks is size and a bit of fitness. All that comes with pre seasons. And let's not beat around the bush- no one here has a hot or stunning girlfriend. Why the hell would you spend all your time on Demonland? -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MITCH CLARK

I agree too. I love the way the Ox backs us up. I took him to task on twitter when the $ully fiasco was in it's infant stages. I asked him if he would apologize if he was wrong abbout Sully- he said he'd make a public apology, so that's integrity in my book. I see this as a subtle swipe at Sculldog. I welcome it lol -
Caddy in Jones to play small forward role? Does this work?

I have renewed hope for our club. With a favorable draw I have a feeling we can crack the 8. A breath of fresh air has swept through the club. We have a new coach, new supporting staff, and that much needed big bodied forward we have lacked since Neitz retired. My hope was a little diminished after the debacle that was 2011, I was expecting a finish of around 13-10 for season 2012. But after landing Clark we now have more freedom in the way we attack- we are now free to; Keep our ruckmen fresh - no need to "rest" in the forward line anymore Give our midfielders a definitive target - allows us to "bomb it in long" more often without having to pinpoint a lead every time Take the number 1 defender off Watts, the number 2 off Jurrah and so on- end result- someone will have a weak opponent. Allows us to keep Martin down back if we are under siege. We also now have some forward presence which is huge. Also should any unfortunate injury take place in the ruck we can now cover it with someone who will at least break even with the best. It's amazing how the inclusion of a good needs type player can help the structure of a football club, and none can change the structure as much as a big body forward. Especially when you have been lacking one for so long.. Fingers crossed Demonblood!

Another positive out of trading with Brisbane- they now have the ammo to lure Tippet. Why is this good? Because it keeps him away from GC. GC are going to be a threat to us, so every decent footballer they fail to lure is a positive for us. Will be happy if he ends up at Brisbane, as I don't see them as a threat to our window.

Consider this a howl down. HOWL to you Redleg! We keep Bail because he is a weapon. I'd rather trade out a compo pick and double combo of Warnock, Spencil, Bate or Maric. Bail stays.

Travis Johnstone and pick 12 to Brisbane for Grimes and Clark. We've done well out of Brisbane!
-
I reckon we'll give it to Brisbane

how did Freo miss out? Channel 10 ran a story confirming he signed with the dockers, obviously they were just assuming. Fail! I thought he had a sick family or Grandma and wanted to return home? Ahhh the lure of the mighty dollar! Happy to hear that GWS made him a massive offer and he declined. I wonder what "he who can't be named" think about the professionalism of our club now. I wonder if he would like to be part of it now? LOL hate to be stuck in Blacktown! edit actually remembered that if Brisbane didn't accept Freo's offer and he didn't want to come he would have had to go to draft- therefore he would have ended up in Black Town so he come to us. Yipee

It feels so good to finally have that big bodied FF we have been desperately needing. Drafting all these youngsters lately, while I believe in all of them- there is no size down there, we get pushed off the ball too many times and the opposition can get it out of there too easily. Now with a focal point others can feed off Clark. He doesn't even have to dominate- his mere presence will lift the forward line. Bloody handy player to boot. God forbid Jamar or Stef go down with an injury we have an extremely competent back up now. Exciting times!!! Go Dees!!

Mid round compo and Warnock would get it done you'd think.. I can still see Warnock featuring in a deal.. if we don't package him up by Monday he leaves for nothing right?

LOL.... WTF?????!!!!!! How did this happen? This is awesome news! Clark is a gun. So is he our new FF. Please tell me his the FF now. Be FF. Jamar and Martin to do the ruck stuff, Clark can be the big KPF we have been screaming for! Joyous occasion fo an already liquored up young lass!

Jack Viney will replace him nicely. I see similar zip and movement in Blease. I feel we're fine. I don't think we'll miss him that much. I have confidence in these kids on our list.
