Lol so do I but obviously that's not the point!
-
We don't expect them to be choir boys, we expect them not to go out drinking the day before a training session. The importance of this IR [censored] is irrelevant. And if you don't care what they do in the off season all I can say is thank god you aren't responsible for the welfare of impressionable young men. Where does it end? Certain behavioral criteria must be set by the club otherwise you get a bunch of Fevs and milnes running amock.
-
And fortunately for me and many others on this site your narrow-minded views are inconsequential. I'm not going to be drawn into another long winded argument with someone who is as arrogant and stubborn as you are. Your content need to get the last word in shows your maturity level. As you would say- end of story.
-
Yeah, I often let my friends drive my car when I'm sober... Get your head out of the sand! I'm peeved that some people consider those that judge this as serious are being viewed as sanctimonious. So I want and expect a high level of conformity from our players- sue me! Let's see where turning a blind eye to these matters gets us.
-
Precious? You lot really confuse me sometimes. You cry when an outsider has a pot shot at us, yet when one of our own transgress it's just water off a ducks back, isn't it? A minor reflection on our club still damages. I want more from us then what is expected out of St Kilda, Carlton etc. If you want to be ignorant that's your prerogative. I have stated how I feel on the issue and I'll leave it at that.
-
I think you just answered your own question then. Oh throw in a couple of premierships a brownlow and a Norm smith into that mix and I think you'll find you have a star. You don't have to be a 'flashy' type to be a star. edit- Oh sorry you said not be classified as a star, moving right along. which muppet said he wasn't? They were wrong, just like Don Scott!
-
I'm disappointed that you feel that way paulrnb. While they're under contract they're expected to behave in an acceptable manner because they are still representing the club. Be it regular or off season the actions they chose still reflect on us! I'm puzzled as to why so many are willing to just ignore this. How is Colin going to mature as a man if this just gets swept under the carpet? He neglected one of his responsibilities- if no sanctions then no lesson is learnt. He's 26 now FFS is this attitude going to go on forever unchecked? Bloody hope not!
-
That's fine. Obviously you don't expect any level of responsibility from our players if your willing to write this whole affair off as just a 'social activity in someone's down time' What will you say next time, you know, if he is out drinking the night before one of our training sessions, and god forbid something more sinister happens on the way to Casey/AAmI park? I would be more willing to brush this off if it was a first offense from a player with an exemplary record. This is like another dent in an already tarnished reputation. Expect more from our players- the off season isn't supposed to be one long drinking session just because you're let off the leash a month or so out of a year.

Fleeing the scene of an accident is prudent now? LOL i've heard it all now.. His car, his TAC/Vicroads insurance whatever it is under your registration will be paying for the new pole. If he wasn't the driver but it was his car and the driver fled who does the responsibility boil down to? Take the deluded wool off your eyes. If he had of done the responsible thing all of this would be a non issue. Instead we have a contrast where once again Colin has come out a little tarnished. Stop making excuses for him. Stop accepting a sub par level of behaviour. Jeezus christ, 26 and still acting like a child. Then there's kids like Grimes Watts and Trenners. Prime examples of model citizens. I'm just upset because I thought we wouldn't see this kind of crap from one of our guys after Moloney's shame last year (all be it THAT was overhyped) We must expect better!!!
-
Footballers being role models is the side issue here, the issue is that once again, no matter how irrelevant you find the whole affair, Col has managed to find his way to the headlines again for all the wrong reasons. It reflects badly on us whetther that is deserved or not. I'm upset I can't understand how people are so willing to just brush this aside. I'm not saying castrate the bloke, but pay some respect to the gravity of the event geez.
-
I don't expect footballers to be role models either, but guess what sunshine; whether you or I like it, they are. And it is as simple as that. Impressionable kid exults the strapping athletic sports star. Sports star inadvertently becomes kid's role model. It's life!

What does fleeing a scene tell you about ones character? They are irresponsible at the least. And news flash, it is considered fleeing a scene even if the object you crash into is public property. You don't damage public property and run away, you stay and face the consequences of your actions, or if you are not driving you try and get the driver to stay. Simple. The fact that he is an AFL player and knows he is in the public eye make it more stupid. Clearly we have diffent ideologies on how a footballer should act whilst in the public eye.
-
Maybe you're thinking more on Col's behalf more than he ever has. Talk about speculating LOL, it is easy to see how morally immature a lot of you guys are. You don't understand the concept of example setting and how setting the wrong one affects more than just the guy who made the "silly mistake"

Finally .... the distracting spotlight will be elsewhere.
Jesse Christ replied to Yoda's topic in Melbourne Demons
Spoke too soon.. I think you might have done, Yoda. Argh I suck at geek talk. -
Yeah people (myself included) sometimes lose sight of this. They feel the only way to inject class into a unit is to literally inject from the draft. Often, and especially with such a young group the natural progression of the player can cover some holes. And of course new coaches/structures of coaching. And Collingwood's midfield coach imparting his knowledge on our group won't hurt either.
-
It was a backless dees one. Horrah!
-
Oh spare me! And take of those damn rose coloured biased glasses while your at it! What Colin did was a moronic thing to do. You never flee the scene of an incident no matter how insignificant it may be. Driver or not, it was his car and you should display some kind of responsibility. "Colin is a 26 year old kid FFS?" Well what is the age that the male actually mature and learn the consequences for one's actions and gets a sense of morality about them? Thank god no one was hurt! If this happened at the Collingwood no one here would be as flippant on this matter. It paints Colin in a bad light yet again. Just another dent in his already tarnished reputation, which is a shame as I rate him so highly. Give up the highly gifted/ tortured rebel routine Col, pull your finger out and get serious. You're in the AFL and professionalism is expected! Start acting in a mature manner while you're representing our club please! People don't understand the point. It's the msg about Col that this incident sends, not the crime itself! I am disappointed!

I just went on a massive walk around my hood and returned home to discover my top was on backwards.

2011 Player Review - # 35 Luke Tapscott
Jesse Christ replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
LOL, Campbell Brown?? 600 or so Aussie rules players in this country and you pick Campbell Brown?! You mean if he can be a talentless thug who plays the man first and the ball second you will be "ecstatic?" Nope. I have much higher hopes for Mr Tapscott! What rpfd said is perfect. If he can take on a Sylvia style high mid forward player Tapscott will be most damaging. HBF is for those who have flair and are fleet of foot. Tapscott is a wrecking ball with a sweet foot on him. Will create havoc in this position. Campbell Brown? LOL! -
2011 Player Review - # 39 Neville Jetta
Jesse Christ replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Hard as nails, good mark, tenacious tackling, exquisite side-step; has some very handy qualities and I think he could play a role for us. Give him some more forward coaching and see if he can hold down a small forward post. -
I don't see any real suggestions for that small forward role- I believe unless we draft one it will depend on how Neeld wants use Davey. If he wants him to resume his "quarter-back" role maybe we can try Blease (unlikely) bennell maybe Jetta. Would rather Blease takes Daveys post coming out of defense and we give Jetta another shot at making a position his own. I believe he has a lot to offer!
-
I think if Aaron has a repeat of this season's efforts he will remain on the outer and surely he knows this so it's all in his hands. And Yoda- if you want us to buy into the premise that you are in fact Yoda you must start talking like him. Otherwise I'll assume no allegiance to the Jedi and you are just another deluded muggle.
-
Keep that idea under your hat please. At some point we have to start cultivating a winning culture. Whilst I've applauded previous tanks we now start playing for wins. Otherwise we will be regarded as the team who only tanks and will surely be considered a joke!
-
Lol, hold your horses there deelighted, or is it deelirious? Lets see him go for at least one contested possession before we start contemplating top 5 finishes!
-
I'll call it early; we won't be able to deal with GWS whilst that neurotic nut-bag is at the helm!
