  1. Those leaders have nobody to learn from. Just like last time we brought in heaps of kids and had no leaders. And the time before that. Look at St Kilda. Their young kids are learning from Riewoldt, Montagna, Fisher. Ours are learning from Jones, Garland and Dunn. And Vince has not been 'poor'. He has been abysmal on a number of occasions. Abysmal. Today was no different. Playing on with no awareness 30 metres from their goal, kicking into the man in the mark when we have blokes open inside 50 etc etc. Masterstoke? I'm not sure. He had a good year last year, but I wouldn't go as far as that. And don't get me started on Jones. He was awful yesterday.
  2. Lead a team that has lost it's way, for a start. He was awful yesterday.
  3. Sure does smell like 1987. Like incompetence followed by heartbreak.
  4. Only a couple of those pottings are Roos related. The absolutely single biggest problem we still have is a complete leadership vacuum. Jones goes missing and Vince is conspicuous by his complete and utter laziness and stupidity. We've cleaned out the rest of our oldest quartile on the list (AGAIN!) because they are a pack of useless peanuts who can't play football and the last thing we want is the youngsters learning from them on match day. Kick a torp, Lynden!!! Said no-one ever. This is a never ending cycle and is the reason why teams like Carlton, St Kilda and Port constantly fall quicker than us, then rise quicker again.
  5. This is absolute gold. I've tried since I got home from the game to get the energy up to post something in this thread, but now I don't need to.
  6. I certainly don't. About the game, let alone changes on the fringes.
  7. Don't stress mate, nobody's worried about you being insensitive. We all just want to play finals and stuff the consequences.
  8. When will this club stop thinking about next year, and start thinking about this year? This has been our problem for 10 years.
  9. Did you consider that he might have been dropped for other reasons? Selfish and pulling out of contests? Complete nonsense.
  10. I suppose it's a case of finding what you're good at, and getting paid as much as you can for it. Like the rest of us. It just wasn't something I'd ever considered footballers would think. But it's probably completely fair enough.
  11. Amazing how quickly things have changed!!
  12. Took me 5 or 6 beers. Why are we both on here at 9.30 on a Saturday night anyway?
  13. Are you serious? Sorry, were you watching? You're usually ok, but this is complete rot.
  14. Didn't he say that at the start of the Neeld years? Or am I making that up? That would make it 5 years ago, no?
  15. Interestingly, that's the second time in a few weeks this topic has come up - someone was talking about their mate at St Kilda who thought the same thing... I hadn't thought of it before that, but I guess it makes sense really. You're right, there must be a lot of them!
  16. Nope. We've been very good in the wet this year (Hawthorn, Port games come to mind). We've mastered the art of getting it forward at all costs a la the Hawks. If it's wet we will smash them even harder.
  17. This gave me a laugh. I can totally see where you're coming from, I just think people are conflating two issues. One is what they think of H as a player and the 'value' we got from him, and the other is the reaction to his playing career surely winding up soon. I think this thread is the time and place to discuss the latter, rather than glorying in how your feelings about the former justify you potting a bloke at this particular point in time, and in these circumstances. We don't have to agree.
  18. You don't have to be, you can do whatever you like. But both your initial post and response show your character! Nobody's demanding that you like the bloke, or the trade, that's irrelevant.
  19. A remarkably unnecessary and insensitive post. What drives you to feel the need to express this sort of opinion in these circumstances?
  20. I saw that. Amazing really.... Jack Grimes: Jack had 42 possessions, 10 marks, three tackles, nine inside 50s and kicked 1.2. I thought Jack’s game was really workmanlike. He continues to play at a really high level and standard at VFL level. His work-rate and ability to be involved in the game, from a defensive point of view and from a contested point of view, enabled him to get his hands on the football and make really good decisions as well. Matt Jones: Matt had 41 possessions, six clearances and five inside 50s. Jonesy, for the second week in a row, has been huge. He seemed to be everywhere on the weekend and he certainly provided us with a lot of run and quality ball use. Matt played with real speed and played like an AFL player at VFL level. It was a high quality performance. Pretty clear which of them is going back up when there's a spot.
  21. I'd rather eat all my shoes than watch those [censored] teams at that [censored] heap of a stadium
