  1. It's one of the small games within a game that I am really looking forward to this year. Without a doubt his opponent this year will be aware of what he can do and find new ways of attempting to shut him out. I still remember Howe coping this when he played forward at times. His opponents figured out to simply make body contact during his run at the ball (illegally but too soft to call) preventing him from making a decent jump. Howe was a one trick pony and had no answer. Fritsch isn't a one trick pony. He is a natural forward. Lacks a bit of speed but has worked on his endurance. It will be great to see the battle each week. What will they do to stop him and how will he overcome their tactics? It's a great thing. Fritsch deserves the attention because he is that talented. But can he take it to the next level?
  2. We knew the third year was a gift when we got him for peanuts. As it turned out it was great as we lacked fit bodies and leadership.
  3. Bagdad Bob advised it post 55 that it was Preuss
  4. I had to really think about this. I'm not really the biggest stats guy, more of an eyeball assessment. It's difficult to say 'He needs to get 3 more effective kicks'. I've been vocal in the past about how Champion Data does the best job possible of applying ranking points to a game that is impossible to rank accurately. But in this context there is no other observable metric than can be applied correctly. Salem averaged 90 Supercoach points this year in total. He was on track for 95 before a severe drop off in the last few rounds. An increase of 5% on top of 95 is 99.75. I agree with you on most points here. So it must be the 'Great on paper' part you disagree with me on. TMac - Agree. Melksham - Agree. Petracca - Agree, but he will hopefully be playing a lot more midfield this year. Fritsch - Agree. Really looking forward to seeing him play forward all year. I think it could be amazing. Weideman - is still only potential at this stage. Hopefully he is injury free and has the year we expected he was going to have last year. Petty - Promising but very raw. I was excited about what he showed forward last year, but he is gaining hype among supporters which isn't realised yet. Jackson, Smith are pure hope at this stage and on paper do not register. So really, we have one tall forward with runs on the board, some promosing second talls, some really good mid size players. No small. As I said, I hope by the end of the year we can say otherwise bit right now? Thats not great.
  5. It's a message board devoted to one thing. You can't get upset when people talk about parts of that one thing that you don't like.Let people talk about what they want. You can still have your say without getting bogged down in the stuff you don't like. Back on topic: Finals is a pass for me. There are other things besides making finals or making top 4 that we can analyse as part of being successful. I would like to see some players make that next step. Brayshaw and Petracca are my main two that I have high hopes for. Salem to find that extra 5% and added consistency. Harmes could actually keep improving. I think most people think he has improved enough but there isn't any reason why he couldn't jump up to A grade talent. Viney to stay injury free and remind a few on here about how he can actually play. Fingers crossed. I'm also looking forward to seeing what Fritsch, Weid and Petty provide up front. On paper our forward line is not great. I would love to say the opposite by the end of the year.
  6. Sigh... These sanctimonious 'typical Demonland' statements you come out with are getting really tiresome. It's the off season. It's a thread discussing the upcoming season. Give it a rest.
  7. Well... For starters, he was still grieving the loss of Muhammad Ali.?
  8. Bradke. But we always knew that he was a long term project. Bedford would need to improve a hell of a lot on last year to get a game. Training reports have been positive though.
  9. I totally get where he is coming from though. If you could wave a magic wand and make them both 100% right now then Tomlinson would be ahead by a long way. KK has simply missed too much footy to over the past few years. He would be so out of touch.. Which is what his two games this year were. I don't rate Tomlinson that highly, but he will play his role and will hopefully be durable. I was bullish about getting KK. I've done a complete 180 now. I think he is done. I don't think we will ever see him play again and i'm not sure if I want him to. I cringe when I think of him getting hit in the head again. I nearly felt this way about Brayshaw too, so fingers crossed that i'm wrong and that he makes it back.
  10. My post was looking at if KK had never been injured in the first place and what each player's ceilings would be in the role. His games for us this year are pretty much null and void after how much football he missed. He really shouldn't have been in the team in the first place imo.
  11. KK would have had a much better career than Tomlinson if he never had the injury concerns. No offence to Tomlinson, but KK is much better suited to a wing. We got Tomlinson because he is a solid best 22 option who is versatile and doesn't have injuries (Until he got to us and got injured immediately). He has shown he can play the wing position and can do it better than the majority of our list. Its a funny question really... How good would Trengove been without the foot injury? How good would the Ox have been without the knee reconstructions? Would Luke Molan be considered a bust if he never got injured? If my grandmother had wheels she would be a bicycle.
  12. Did you wear it to a game?
  13. Happy to see these 2 along with Sparrow, Jordan, Bedford and Chandler develop at Casey this year. There will likely be a few opportunities but I hope they are few and far between. Hoping that Jackson and Pickett are the ones to push there way into the team.
  14. We delisted Pedo, Bull Smith and Keilty over the past 2 years. Do you think targeting Brown has anything to do with Weid? Or maybe we realised we had zero depth when both McDonald and Weid were injured? I can see all three getting a game when fit just like Smith and Pedo did at stages over the past few years. Back to the video. Interesting to see we were keen on Robertson and would have taken higher than he was taken if possible. I wonder why so many others over looked him. I'm also looking forward to part 2. I really enjoyed watching other clubs vids last year. Great insights.
  15. You think that because our recruitment team hope a 17 year old kid who has been injured most of the year slides to our third pick that we have given up on Weid? And you think other people's posts are stupid? FMD.
  16. I hope KK just retires. There is more to life than this. Much more. I assuming he has and that he is just seeing out his contract.
  17. This is great.
  18. The player at the very back on the right hand side sums up how I feel about our club letting us know about these type of things.
  19. Good work for Champion Data to try and apply statistics and rankings to a game that is incredibly difficult to apply statistics to and rank. I think there formula is probably very close to the best way of trying to do it. But these lists are basically meaningless. There is so much that happens in a game that cannot be ranked. Champion Data is basically meaningless
  20. It's Carlton's 4th. And it will likely be a lot higher than that. Everyone keeps talking about next year being a compromised draft due to Academy and Father sons. But that means a heap of later picks will be used as points. That 4th rounder will come in a fair bit imo. And we are much more likely to use it next year than we would pick 50 this year due to not having a first rounder.
  21. We probably were not going to use pick 50
  22. Well played by the club. We get back a second round pick and move back to pick 10. We weren't going to use pick 50. So essentially our trade with North becomes 2020 first round pick for pick 10. We Lose: Pick 26, 2020 first round. We Gain: Pick 10, Pick 28, 2020 fourth round
  23. I always remember him as being the 'running' guy when reading reports about Port. I wonder if his philosophy has changed with experience since his Port days or if it has always been the same and he was just misrepresented.
  24. Looking forward to seeing the melts occur from the [censored] on here when we select Jackson.
