Isn't it time to back our football department in the midfield?
McQueen replied to CBDees's topic in Melbourne Demons
Lol. That's how I interpreted the title. Pity George Stone has retired. So many games experience there... -
Those stats suggest that his 2 games spent rucking delivered a total of 9 hit outs. That's hardly doing okay...
-
Not. http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/pg-melbourne-demons--jack-watts?year=2013

Jack Watts can Ruck? I think you are wrong on that one fella. Watts would only be any good in the Ruck as a third man up because there is no way he has the strength to wrestle it out at a stoppage. If I was going to put any one player in for ball up it would be Howe. He could time his leap and as we know would get well up there.

Gold.

I agree. What I was trying to indicate is that I reckon Roos has not only told them what type of players they should scout but where possible look for a player with an existing connection to other blokes on the list.
-
"In Roos we trust." Gives me the shytes.

Spot on BB. You can see how the new regime is going about fostering a culture of unity. Not only do they seem like excellent draft picks, the connections that they have should help bond the team into a ruthless group of footy players. Kudos to the recruitment guys but I'd be shocked to know if someone thinks that Roos hasn't been the catalyst for this.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - OSCAR MCDONALD

It makes you wonder just how much information club recruiters share with one-another. A quick ring around to ask about the likelihood of certain players in an approximate draft range not being a target might actually happen. -

Ball winners are needed all over the ground. -
I was about post something similar. Didn't know the bloke but when I learnt he had gone, it felt like it was someone I was close to. Strange really, how elite sports people can give you so much joy but also provide you with a level of perspective about life when they're struck by tragedy. Incredibly sad. RIP

Definition: Being really shitty at something but fair about it.

I'm still not convinced the media are correct with McCartin going to St Kilda although I am hopeful. Then again I can't see anything wrong with drafting McCartin if Petracca goes first. Especially if we're still backing ourselves in for a big name FA midfielder next trade period.

I'm more confident too, Ron. Also more cautious.

Kim Duthie now on the books at the Saints?
-
Just how I felt back in '09 when we landed Scully and Trengove.
-
Seriously, after reading that write-up, there's no wonder the general football public expect these young blokes to enter the AFL system and dominate from the get-go. It's really just sensationalist dribble that only heaps the pressure on these kids.

I'm clearly not a news-breaker.

In more strife. Just reported on the wireless over here that he's been busted for videoing himself driving at 200kmh on the way to Geraldton - and then posting it online.

It wouldn't matter now would it? You could get hammered on either and just have a big fry-up the next morning and you'll be good as new. Hang on.... This is classified as new a new diet? I've been doin it for years. -
I couldn't tell either. HD quality was really poor back then wasn't it.

Once it was confirmed that he would not poll a single vote in the count he cracked the shits and walked out. True story. Sort of.

A win over the Cats in Geelong next season would be cause for a quiet pint or ten.
