That's a good point re Matthews. Wasn't he supposed to be the 'toe-cutter' from a board level to set things on a better path? If anything, since his arrival into that role it's only descended into further chaos.

It was only a couple of years ago that the footy media thought they'd cleaned up with Beams, Robinson, Christensen etc.

They've also had more walk out on them over the years compared to us. It was only a few years ago that Polec, Yeo, Docherty, Longer and Karnezis left the club. Experience of Leuenburger, Redden and Adcock missing and Dayne Beams not getting on the park must make it very hard. They have nowhere near the young talent or depth we have.

If we were just a paltry as them this year then I don't think "indifferent" would be how you perceive the plight. Isn't it great to be wearing the shoe on the other foot for a change.

So the Bombers get the players that return, compensation via trades for those who choose to leave, and have pick 1 in the ND. I'd be very disappointed if they didn't get a raw deal somewhere along the line... One shitful season due to the loss of players due to the program isn't enough. One or more of the remaining players needs to demand his contract be srewed up. If others want a trade (Hibberd), offer them SFA in return. What can they do other than eventually accept it?

The AFL were wise enough to realise the issues at the MFC were far greater than what the benefit of a PP or two might offer a rebuilding club and installed PJ and Roos to right the ship. Our list was terrible but it's really only taken 3 years to turn it around. They've got their academies to supplement the list. Now they need some wise old heads to rectify the issues at their club.

The issue was the club culture - a by-product of that was the training standards. So many top 10 picks up in smoke due the running of the club and subsequent poorly put together/run development programs.
