Holy shizen I'm gonna get on a punch up the way this is going. Eagles supporters are flogs. Just win this Demons. @binman, I have a % sign all drawn up in red and blue just ready for a big last qtr.

I would've thought getting contract talks underway now would make very little difference to any individual performance input Sam makes between now and EOS given that it's more than halfway done. Maybe he his spooked by the Lever rumours?
-
Interesting that he's holding off any contract talks to end of season. I would've thought it's a risky strategy for s player of his ability.. Congrats on the milestone anyway.

Are you referring to his Missus?

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 14
McQueen replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I flew out of Melbourne at 9:15 this morning expecting be on the same plane as them but it wasn't the case - they were nowhere to be seen. I'd assume they didn't catch the early so would figure the arvo plane would be the one. That doesn't really allow time for them to get to Subiaco for a trot. J Omeara was however on the plane, had a chat to him in the lounge prior to boarding. He said he reckoned I looked pretty awesome in my Melbourne polo so I acknowledged his perfectly moulded comb-over. We didn't talk about his knees but he reckons that the Dee's have got the game to get the job done against the Eagles. -
I'm just not enjoying this topic of discussion. His 2015 season was fantastic and he's suffered injury since. A fit Brayshaw offers skill, outside run and contested ball. Getting him fit and confident should be the only consideration for the MFC. Particularly when we've got he likes of Vince, Lewis and Jones fast approaching the end of their careers.

Had a lot of the guru's on here moaning that it was massive overs by memory. He's having a ripper season.

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 14

Due to an 'oversight' I missed the MFC interstate member allocation of seats but thankfully I've got my mates Eagles members seats for tomorrow night so I'm desperately hoping we win. Sitting right in the thick of the some of the worst supporters in the league, challenging every single free kick they get and roaring like a demented fool at every goal we kick (I'll wait until we're in the clear) will be so thouroughly therapeutic. I'm pumped and feeling very confident that our best footy is clearly better than the Eagles. -
Who wins the Dogs vs Roo's game? I'm half expecting the Dogs to be seething and come out and play an absolute blinder but then again...
-
Duh! Here I am looking for the team announcement at 4:25pm Perth time..... ...in Newcastle.

Thinking a little more about the Eagles talls and remembered they have Johnathon Giles running around in the WAFL as well. Wouldnt be surprised if they slot him into the side to try and further combat Gawn. Bit of a journeyman but definitely not a hack.
-
With no Lycett or Kennedy likely, I would expect McGovern to play forward more often not that young Tom Barrass is back in the team. With Gawn back in I expect the influence of Vardy will be minimal in the ruck and when Gawn goes forward for a rest he'll clunk them from everywhere and kick multiple goals. I'n very confident about this game.

Yes and no. It's logical that the more short breaks you get between games, particularly subsequent ones, will result in a greater level of fatigue. Imagine being the team that played a full season of 6 day breaks vs a team that got 7 days worth of recovery between games. It effectively means the 6 day break team will be approximately 3 weeks in arrears in relation to available recovery period. The fact that we have 3 games in a row with only short breaks does mean we'll be required to change things up and, as you've mentioned, we all trust that the Misson and the conditioning team have done their work. One day can be a very significant variable at this performance level and the other variables of traveling to WA, adjusting to a 2 hour time difference and most likely having a shitty sleep the night beforehand all add up.

I don't want to have to call the Mythbusters to sort this one out but if I hear another "wide open spaces" call about Subiaco I'll commit a feckin homicide. The ground is effectively 7 metres longer each side of the centre circle compared to the MCG but is not as wide (I think @jnrmac gave the dimensions on another thread). A players speed has absolutely SWEET F@#$ ALL to do with how effective they will be in relation to this small variance at league level. In my opinion, the only effect it has on game strategy is on most facets of set ups and postioning at stoppage and zoning. And, given we have good speed on our back and forward lines I can't see how this is going to adversely affect these players. Playing as an inside mid with a big tank, Trengove will be just fine at Subiaco.

I'm thinking the same. We need to swap Jones out with another mid because quite frankly, spreading the workload that Jones has been doing on to the other existing mids will be to great an ask and that's taking into account the effectiveness of Max's taps. I feel as though Goodwin will debut Maynard this weekend. It'll be X factor the Eagles will be caught out by. As much as I want Trengove to play, Maynard will be a ferocious bull at stoppage and his quick hands will benefit the corridor footy I expect to see on Saturday night. To keep up the attack we showed against the Dogs, we'll need fresh player doing the grunt work this weekend. In: Gawn, Maynard Out: Jones, NFI

Everyone seems to be forgetting about why it's there in the first place. Brad Scott.
-
I'm all for it as well but had we copped the ten goal thumping and Watts and Bugg played terribly then this thread would have a whole different nature to it.
-
Remember during the off-season when we were all worrying about our perceived lack of a forward/ruck? If it hadn't been for Gawn, Spencer and to a lesser degree Hogan going down with injury, Pedo would've been stranded in the magoo's and we'd still be concerned about playing an under-developed Weideman alongside Hoges. Who knows how the W/L ratio might be looking now of that was the case but it's completely irrelevant anyway. The #PedersenFacts are that this bloke has stood tall when opportunity came knocking and seized it with both hands. The confidence the coaches have placed him mustn't be understated either. The bloke is playing on instinct and it's a marvelous thing to watch.
-
The post game Burgoview with Watts gave a good insight into how Bugg operates and interestingly how he has rubbed off on Jack himself. Watch it if you haven't already. I'm surprised they got a "talking to" about it. I think in this day and age if you don't embrace it you're gonna be the odd one out.

Cheers, I'll be over in Newcastle for work this week, returning to Perth via Melbourne on Friday morning with Virgin. Probably a fair chance I'll be on the same plane.
-
Does the club fly with Virgin or Qantas?
-
Sweet dreams tonight, deeko.

Good Lord the quality of the score review video is pitiful. It's essentially worthless.

I'll place more emphasis on a win today against the Dogs than the win against the Crows due the bottleneck of teams trying to break into the top 8. There's just no longer any margin for error this season and games against opponents such as the Dogs present that chance for a win that is unlikely but would be incredibly meaningful in the context of the run home.
