  1. Balic for goal of the night!?? Casey by 9
  2. Robinson shooting for Werribee
  3. nice come back this quarter
  4. Go Smitty! Most accurate set shot for goal in the magoos out of all teams IMO.
  5. A much better indicator this week Tracc. You are only as good as the opposition unless you have stars across most lines.
  6. Serves you right for choosing a Crapple over an android Pates! Wait ....this is a bloody Crapple also! ?
  7. Given the quality of the opposition last week, and the fact there's been only one match, there's not really enough VFL form to go on Steve. Tonight's match should be a better indicator. Up till this week it is really only what the selectors have seen on the track, which isn't as strong an indicator at the end of the day. It is absolutely rediculous that the VFL starts 3 weeks after the AFL. Would hate to be a selector at the start of the season when injuries / poor form / general soreness kick in over the first 3 matches. We will only really know where Stretch / Brayshaw / Balic & Maynard are vs say Tyson / Melksham & Nibbler, when the former have had a decent run at it at AFL level and we have a body of work to compare. Some will no doubt also throw in the Pedders v Weid debate as well. In the mean time I'm happy with the word coming out of the FD that supposedly tells us they are only looking at 'in form' for 'out of form' options for the ins / outs each week, no doubt match ups / roles & the weather playing a significant part also.
  8. Drunkn more important is the Van.....have you sighted the Van!??
  9. Given there's no other ins I would think that would have meant an unchanged team Jim
  10. Dub you are a Demon fan....as you know we never get carried away
  11. Very nice also Jaded. I'm with you on all those aspects. Imagine if we can get Weids into some sort of AFL form AND have Pedders chomping at selection in the background as depth if Hulk/Maxy get suspended or something (Lucifer forbid!!). Wont be this week though by the looks of it. Another look at our VFL squad against a better opponent won't hurt this week anyway. Will certainly be a better indicator of form if those performing can put in two big ones in a row.
  12. Dub you do know the old footy cliche I hope !??
  13. If your mail is consistently on any spelling / language will do Yoko. Even Japanese!
  14. While this mail is likely to be on I think the Weid in this week would have been handy to have some extra height up forward and provide Max with a chop out in the middle occasionally (when ball's in forward 50 also), allowing Max to play a kick behind when the press is on. Having said that, the VFL opponent on the weekend was bog ordinary and almost impossible to judge anyone's form from it, including Brayshaw's. A big win looming IF we get the Mitchell lock down job done AND close of Hawthorn's obsession with running in waves off HB and sharing it as they run diagonally through the corridor, then a quick long raking kick to the hot zone around 30 meters once they hit mid field (or thereabouts). Need to protect the corridor, especially from the back of the square and push em out wide early on their attempted rebound runs. Killed us with this strategy last year and in the games I've seen so far they are still doing it against opponents. The Tigers were on it though and have been for some time now with regular success.
  15. I could see Weid in for Melk this week Werridee but the FD obviously felt Melk did enough in that last quarter or so for another run or they just prefer him in the match ups. Would be nice to be a fly on the wall inside the 4 walls to see what the thinking / strategy is. The FD seems to have settled on the no change other than Tyson for illness as we know, so Fritsch looks like he's getting another run. Frankly the VFL team we played against on Sunday wasn't really a good week to be judging who is truly pushing up with great form and who isn't so it was always going to be tough to break in to the seniors this week. Melk & ANB have been very lucky though regardless.
  16. Dee for so early in his career Fritsch is a bloody good finisher/disposer of the pill and a lovely left foot. Reads the play like a veteran already when it's in motion. Great vision also and DOESN'T panic. Assesses and delivers beautifully most of the time by both hand and foot. His ability to read play and judge the ball so well allows him time and space that others don't often have in general play, even this early! One on one in a marking contest he obviously isn't going to win too often given his size so we give up some gains on that side for sure. But I would take 15 or so disposals from Fritsch over the equivalent from a few of the other fringe forwards right now. Super young and inexperienced, will probably need a break in coming weeks/months. He is raw, young and easily pushed off the ball, but for all that, he is also all class in all other aspects and knows how to finish in front of goals! A rare commodity up forward at Demonland....keep him in unless he puts in a horror FCS!
  17. ANB & Melk were about even on the impact side PF, Melk redeeming himself a tad in the last. We will agree to disagree on Harmes. Not extraordinary by any means but i thought he played a solid role throughout and was integral in the mid field and around the ground helping to even out many of the contested wins in close.
